The Harsh Coziness of Winter Levels
Переглядів 37311 місяців тому
Winter levels, or world, or areas in games can often have two very conflicting feelings to them, sometimes they are these harsh, windy, frostbitten experiences - but sometimes they are cosy, safe, warm places that just give you some space to relax after a brutal stage. I like to think that while these two feelings are polar opposites, they can actually come together quite well, and highlight ea...
What Defines an Indie Game?

What Makes a Good Boss Battle?

Boss fights, not every game has them, but damn are they fun. But what is it that makes a boss battle fun and thrilling to play through? There are quite a few different factors that go into it, and when they are done right you're left with one of the best gaming experiences out there - but when done wrong you can be left with something that feels underwhelming, repetitive or boring. Platforming Bliss! - Super Mario Bros. Wonder (Review)
Переглядів 166Рік тому
Super Mario Bros. Wonder is one of the best Mario games to date, and is probably my personal favourite 2D instalments. The reason for this is fairly simple; Love, passion and care was put into the game every step of the way. So, let's take a look as to why that is, focusing on the different gameplay and mechanics at play, the visuals and sound, and the passion that went into each level. Timesta...
Getting Through The Backlog

The backlog can be brutal, and many of us are left asking 'how do we get through it?' - Our backlogs can build up for multiple different reasons, and a lot of the time the best method for making progress through it is to just make yourself play a load of games in your library. Maybe scheduling a time to play a certain game works for you, maybe spontaneity is key, or maybe just making peace with...
Linear vs Nonlinear Games
Переглядів 19 тис.Рік тому
Are linear or nonlinear games better? As time has gone on, we've seen the both of these styles of game rise above the other, but when it comes down to which of them is the best at giving us a great experience, it's a little bit more complicated. Of course neither can really be crowned the 'best', but they each have some defining strengths that give them the edge when it comes to certain types o...

Minecraft has evolved and changed significantly since it's creation, going from a simple game filled with charm and potential, to a more complex game filled with stuff to do. This video will take a look into how Minecraft lost that simplistic sandbox feeling and took on a more linear style of gameplay through pre-classic, classic, indev, infdev, alpha, beta and the full release of the game. "having things to do bad"
26:04 Not on the Switch. I got into Minecraft through the Wii U and the Switch, so them removing Java from Switch, no longer updating it and only updating Bedrock edition sucks.
Honestly, minecraft need a farming and food revamp. The only overhaul update i want. Hunger and Plunder or Crops and corpses
im glad you dont say one is objectively better, I love both styles but theres been so many updates that its honestly a different game at this point.
tink? more like twink
I disagree with your video, what can I do 🤷♂️
Is there any way to contact you? I'm ancient and would enjoy having a conversation about Minecraft's Game Design & Development.
I think the golden age just depends on when you started playing and what you were doing. I used to play on a cracked Minecraft server called Canadian Killer Craft. It had factions and the power struggle was real. I was in a faction called Amity and I just remember building a whole community with members of the faction. Thinking about the simplicity of the game and the time digging, surviving, hiding, looting, battling, and building on the server is my golden age.
I dont mind the hunger bar, but I do mind how fast the damn thing depletes on bedrock and how slow your health regenerates on said version
I refuse to lose hope, steam wishlist says its coming soon!!!!!
It sucked ass
RANA MENTIONED 🎉
Simplicity isn't "good" tf did you do with less choices??? Unless you're completely uncreative and suck at not being distracted which is an opinion, and not Minecraft losing anything, cause it's better then almost every previous version 1 block at a time
oh god its you again ill just leave you with one quote "An idiot admires complexity, while a genius appreciates simplicity" you truly do not understand what he means by simple.
@@VladdyDaddy45 using quote from someone doesn't make it universal, tf you mean by "it's you" you have literally no counters just pretending as if your position is solid... I'm willing to pay you a million if you can play older versions of the game without getting bored within few hours which is what you wannabe intellectuals pretend to do with newer versions
@@VladdyDaddy45 and it's literally not deep, there's no hidden nuance in the video that I'm leaving, stop trying to be philosophical for thr sake of it it's cringe, it's a game
@ nah, its about gameplay. ill just let you realize on your own😉
This was an ARG before ARGs were even a thing.
One thing i realised is how Minecraft is not even it's own unique,stand-alone game on itself anymore and it's now pretty much like any other video game out there. But Minecraft doesn't need spin-offs.... it's already complete on its own.
Im gonna have to disagree. Everything will get boring after a while, its just a fact of life. Minecraft has to adapt they don't really have a choice or they will fade into obscurity. However, I do agree that the game has become to "progression based" over time. You always want the next best item, I feel like mojang needs to add more items that improve the deepness of the sandbox aspect without over complicating the game to the casual player.
Geavel not falling is weird
Dude, the rubinite demo has INSANE pixel art that looks so beauty and a little gory. So looking forward to that game coming out in full
The tutorial in Minecraft is SO frustrating. I exclusively play with a controller on PC because Mouse and keyboard has always hurt my wrist. The tutorial does not recognize controllers, so it forces you to temporarily switch to a mouse and keyboard to get rid of it.
I remember R.O.B saved Nintendo back in early 80's .
24:01 Enby flag!!!
celeste on pico-8 is better. that's the real pixel art
I think that one of the reasons I liked some dimension mods so much is because I could just play and explore.
For me, Minecraft is ultimately a sandbox. As much as I like to see the big gamechanging updates, its nice to get updates that add to the volume of things to play around with. The huge palate we have makes so many awesome builds possible, and honestly I cant think of a single thing they've added that has detracted from the overall experience (phantoms being an exception.) I think that we're getting to the point where the devs are focused on expanding the world and making it feel alive, rather than messing with parts of the core gameplay loop.
It's so weird to me how it only took Minecraft 2 years to go from initial development to full release 1.0. And yet it felt like I played from when I started in Beta 1.3 to to 1.0 for many, MANY years.
Me: Remembering all the great time I had in Minecraft with tears in my eyes Tink: "Where the only limit is the version you're playing on" Me: LOL
I typically play on peaceful in survival mode so i have to work to build my world but also not have a lot of pressure. Once i get myself a nice start i turn it on easy or normal. I noticed that now they have the amount of days spent in the world visible on console
I exclusively play 1.12 for the biome customization (e.g. infinite oceans with sparse islands). I feel like given the subject matter it's worth noting that *for me* Minecraft peaked at 1.12. I'll never understand why they removed the in-depth World customization. I definitely want to play the current version (whatever that is, 1.21 or something) but I want a pc that can handle shaders that really do the new terrain generation justice.
I'm so much of a progression-based person that it's kind of become an inside joke in my friend group; if I join a new server, I can guarantee you that if a bunch of people all come to spawn and welcome me and start showering netherite on me, I wil be like, "No, stop, I don't want it, I want to get it myself!".
what are these games name? 0:50, 7:58, 18:40
0:29 idk why i never noticed but look what the player is standing on
Sand? I only started playing Minecraft in the last year or so on and off. I assume this didn’t come till much later?
@thewritermichaelis200 not the block its self. The cross, there's a funny sub community that believes all the crossed put in MC where intentionally placed. That then forks of to religious reasons or Heroine. Look it up kinda interesting
I prefer the fan-made trailer.
I realized what I don't like about the modden minecraft. It's the lack of choice. Nowdays, there is mandatory and rigid progression to the game. And before, if you wanted any complex progression, you could download a mod. In this way, the game was more of an engine, a framework, where you could run your own adventures with the themes of your choosing. Want magic? Have magic. Want tech? Have tech. Want explotation? Have exploration. Want horror? Have horror. You did not just build in game, you could build the game. Then, they added more content, they added the standard of what should and shouldn't be in the game, and sometimes, how exactly it should be in the game. Funnily enough, my very first disappointment was when they have added bees, because that killed the mod "forestry", one of the older mods, exactly in the way they now have limited everything else. By making it a part of the game, they have removed the choice. And the mods became less of "what do you want to do?" and more of "how do you want to achieve the same goal over and over again?". Also, it seems that every player has their own "cutoff point", where the game becomes too complex and/or streamlined.
God that trailer at the start of the video sent a MASSIVE wave of nostalgia through me… I remember when I first got this game back in 2013… oh how times were so much simpler back then. I remember all the late nights playing online with friends from around the world. Great memories from an even greater game ❤
I mean, most players prefer newer versions. I think there is a lot of subjectivity and your argument rest on assumptions that aren't very objective.
Gens 4/5 of Pokemon are actually some of the most beautiful games ever made
Thank you for this video.
Come on, why don't a lot of people buy the Wii U? It's not that bad.
achievement systems are evil
The real update that started turning Minecraft from a sandbox to an RPG was 1.19. Everything that update and onwards you are forced to play the new *and sometimes old* content one way. Each new item has one use and one way of obtaining. Even copper, added 1.17, has two ways of obtaining and around 3 uses. I don't mind hunger, the new textures or even modern combat, what I do mind is breaking things that have existed harmlessly for years and only adding sidequests.
started a hardcore world because of this video after not playing solo Minecraft properly for about 9 years :)
Hi
Remember when Minecraft(DOT)Net was simply designed, and laid out to where you could find the “download the game” button stupid easily? You could change your skin on that site. Activate minecon capes. And the Launcher was just there to download the new version, and tell you about the updates? When the updates that were more sporadic, yet full of lore meaningful content? When the community was excited to see the game change, and not dreading what auto-farm was being nerfed, or what disappointing mob was voted into the game. Good times.
I only go for gamerscore If I really liked the game, If It's Call of Duty I might load a few levels once I've beat the game, just to pop a few cool cheevos 🎉
I never get this point of view.. just continue to PLAY simply, if that's your style.. more stuff in the game doesn't mean you can't.
Can I know the name of the first game?
First game is called Little Witch in the Woods
pixel art in games brings us so much nostalgic cause it feels like you're playing a retro game.
Honestly, I don't really agree with the game being that much more linear. Is it a bit more pushy? Yea, it isn't as hands free as it used to be, but there's really nothing stopping you from dodging the push. Like, it is still a sandbox at heart and there isn't anything stopping you from doing whatever you want. Like for example, I've had a little world for a few months now that I play every now and then. I've yet to even enter the nether even though I could just go mining, get diamons and get obsidian in like maybe an hour. Last time I played, I just fished for like 2 hours straight ffs! I feel like the idea of the game having you get/do all this stuff early on is more of a thing the community has kinda gaslit themselves into as the time has gone on and the players have simply become much more skillful.
