UA-cam doesn’t often recommend smaller channels like yours and this video was a great example of how views =\= amazing content. Great video and discussion man keep it up!
Preservation concerns FAR outstrip any argument against emulation for me. could you imagine if you weren't able to look at the Mona Lisa anymore because canvases weren't supported? In this analogy, the Mona Lisa would be transferred to wood, it would not be exactly the same, but it would enable people to experience the art when it would've otherwise been completely lost. Also, I always go back to the EU's piracy survey-- Piracy was actually shown to INCREASE sales in most cases. The point about indie devs is well taken though, and I wonder if/how their games were included in the study. ETA: Also, nice voice :^)
Agreed! Also, that is really interesting about the piracy survey, it makes a lot of sense. I suppose if nothing else it creates fans of that game series who may end up buying the game outright or any future games (playing kid Icarus has had that effect on me, if they ever make a new game I’ll prob be buying that for this very reason lol.) Also thank you so much! :D
If you compare to the film or television industry, you can easily go back and watch older media content. However, if you want to try out an older game you have to spend a fortune! I’ve never been able to check out older Pokémon games, despite absolutely loving the franchise 😨
Oh yeah, trying to get hold of legit copies of any Pokémon games from like gen 5 or earlier can be an absolute nightmare, unless you want to pay more than the game was originally priced at. If you haven't already, I highly recommend checking out Heartgold/Soul silver and Platinum! (I'm very biased, these were my childhood favourites lmao)
Surprisingly, not always. There are enough media that were released on TV or in cinema that would have been completely inaccessible by now if they were not copied in the same way.
Really good video! Glad I found your channel :) Keep up the good work and hmu if you want to collab some day! P.S. (Watching this just as I downloaded Project 64)
About the last section of the video...paying for a game and pirating it are not always mutually exclusive. Many people have no means of dumping their bought copies and are aware enough to know that the biggest potential harm a downloaded copy actually does in a vaccuum is to maybe get you a virus.
Maybe if Nintendo wants me to buy their products, they should bring their products to my country

People with emulators can afford doctors instead of wasting money on AAA garbage.
