Due to the belt touching the left /outter side of the front sprocket, my belt started to show some signs of peeling. Did you manage to centre the belt in the front sprocket too?
Do you still enjoy it after 2 years? Has it been reliable
@@Gayb898 Super reliable, havnt had no problems. Have 18k miles on it so far with regular maintenance. Only thing and this is well known is it likes to eat through batteries, best thing is to get the YTZ14S equivalent battery from Batteries and Bulbs. So you have a warranty and can swap out if goes bad early.
@@Kahuna_550 dude you are awesome and what is regular maintenance if you don't mind me asking a dumb question I just don't want to miss anything I know about changing the oil and oil filter and air filter is there anything else I'm missing?
@@Gayb898 Every 3k I change oil and filter by miles or every 6 months if miles are not met DNA air filter so I wouldn't have to keep buying new ones, like a KN. But I wouldn't worry about the air filter on mileage, if it's not dirty then it's fine. If it's dirty replace it. Spark plugs and Cvt drive belt every 12k miles. The book calls for 6k miles on coolant and brake fluid but I push those to every 12k as well. Changed all brakes pads and one rear disc at 17.5k miles.
Hello, I changed the rollers and the belt on my AK550.Put everything back I mean untill the variator nut started the engine and the variator nut and variator comes out, even the belt.Put everything back and the scooter doesn’t start, or if in the final starts it sounds a metalic sound from the transmission place.Do you think I didn’t put the belt in place correctly?I didn’t pressed the clutch back with those 2 bolts when I put the belt back in. Could you please give me an advice what should I do to make it work again? Please.
@@Alexclk230 I honestly couldn't tell you unless seeing it myself and hearing it. If you didnt use the screws to get belt back on the pulleys then I'm very surprised because it's impossible. You may have the front of the belt pinched between the variator and drive face.
@@Kahuna_550 solved, thanks for the reply.Didn’t use the 5mm screws to put back the belt in place 🤣🤣.It’s working like he did before. Thank you very much.
Hello again, I have one more issue with the scoot if you could give me an opinion about it.When I run it, after some brakes the parking red light turns on, if I lean it left or right it disappears and after a ehile comes again on dashboard. The rear brake pads and disk are new, the fluid in reservoirs is new and enough.Do you think it could be the parking brake not adjusted correctly from the cable?Because if I engaged it and accelerate the scoot goes forward. I can go the dealer, but maybe I can fix it if I have an opinion from someone. I didn’t find anything specific on google about this isuue. Thank you.
NO...the C 19.2mm too tight , 20mm~21mm is good /按照 kymco維修手冊去調整的皮帶緊度,約在15000公里後,皮帶會開始發生異音
@@君鎂 Havnt seen anything regarding 20-21. Even the Kymco service manual. But yes if 19.2 is too tight you'll know by the belt making a noise, then I'd loosen it a bit more till it stops.
Did you experiencing problem of noise drive belt cos its rubbing outside wall of front pulley?
@@1904991 No, just a rear wobble at speed. Like tire was off center.
Awesome video! You made this super easy 🤟 And yea my factory belt it hugging the left of the sprocket
Does the belt adjuster need to be loosened to adjust the belt alignment?
@@DannyCoolBeanss No, the left block for belt tension can be set tight. If you just want to adjust the belt alignment your axle nut needs to be loose/hand tight so the right block can move.
@@Kahuna_550ah ok, makes sense. What’s the tq spec for that axle nut?
@@DannyCoolBeanss 88-103 Ft lbs. I just do 95

Great video. Thank you
Thank you so much for all your videos
@@rkidlat Welcome! 😎
I would think that you should invest in a dial caliper to measure and record the dimensions of the axle tension blocks. I think that if you had measurements accurate to the thousandth of an inch and then repeat those measurements when you reassemble the rear wheel. That black mark could leave you anywhere in that marker space.
@@paul5683 I've taken the wheel off multiple times since this, it doesn't need to be accurate. I'm going off Cyclepedia service manual that Kymco used to make the US version. Read my pinned comment, left is for tension right is for wheel/belt alignment. No problems going this route.
Solid, to the point video! Thank you for making this and showing the steps
You don't need this special key.... just hit it wit power toll impact
Can you lane split on the AK 550?
@@danieljohansen2342 Believe so 🤔, I don't lane split so can't confirm.
I have the 2022 Kymco AK 550i ABS, what is your specs on your REAR Brake Pads, and your Rotor?
@@SubZero_DeZigns Idk the specs but it should be the same regardless. 550i abs is a marketing thing, nothing different.
Where you buy that speacial tools?😊
I just bought that exact bike. I’m finding the throttle to be extremely twitchy! Even in rain mode it’s like an on/off switch! Is your bike that way? Or even more so, was it that way new and finally got broken in after time? I kid you not, my 2022 AK550 is crazy to ride. I let off the throttle and I don’t even have to pull the brakes. It’ll almost come to a full stop with out me braking. Is your bike these two ways? If not, I need to know so I can head back to the dealer. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Twitchy throttle and a major loss of speed when letting go of the throttle. 🤙
I've been riding this bike so long I can't say for certain but it does sound normal to me. When you let off throttle it does decelerate pretty good. The throttle is twitchy because of the Cvt, give it a few weeks to get used to it. No friction zone like with a clutch 👌
Thank you
Used these Shad cases myself....I got the small cases so I didn't overpack on long trips 🙂
Simple, quick look, not more to be said, a picture is worth a thousand words! You did the trick!👍🏻
Is it necessary to change coil at same time as plug?
yes its a service interval so oil change also
Well done Thank you.

nice video can you give us the link of the website where you got the kymco parts?

I purchased a kymco CV3 which is basically the ak550 great video. Will help me later in time 😀
I don't know why Kymco is not selling the ak550 premium in the US... That bike came out in 2022 and it has so many updates and goodies...
Does it fall apart at 10k miles like Chinese made Wolf scooters?
This thing is quality and made in Taiwan, Kymco makes the BMW scooters. Got almost 15k on it now. It's a beast 😎
@@Kahuna_550 nice 👍🏻
Fkn gorgeous man. I hope you still have this. It's freakN perfect. Love the way its sounds and everything. Great job. I'd love to get one of my own. 🥰👍
How often do you need to replace the roller weights ? I can't find it in the manuel
I'm not sure, when needed I assume. They were still somewhat good but I'm just going to replace them every 12k.
Nice informative video.
Very good description of the install. My dealer installed the official Battery Tender pigtail on my AK 550. Those usually have 18 ga wire and are good for up to 7.5-10 amps. But I wanted to use mine for also running my Slime mini compressor which requires 15 amps minimum. It is NEVER a good idea to simply replace the fuse with a bigger fuse unless the wire is big enough to handle more current. I replaced the official BT pigtail with one that has 16 ga wire which is good for up to 20 amps max. It is also a few inches longer than the official pigtail. I can now pump up my tires on the road. I also bought a battery clips to SAE cable and a 3 ft SAE to SAE extension cable with a removable gender changer adapter to be able to assist other mc riders while traveling. The battery clips to SAE cable is for those who don't have a BT pigtail installed. All of these are very small so I carry them any time I travel cross country.
Good info! Thanks 😎
Ah smart a great idea. I had installed the regular 10g wire. I just ordered a 16g to replace it. Safety
@@DannyCoolBeanss Did you mean you initially installed the regular 18 ga? If you did mean 10 ga then that is better than the 16 ga that I installed. Smaller gauge numbers = bigger wire = more amps. But 16 ga is actually all you will need unless you intend to plug in something that draws more current than 20 amps.
@@RobertShwery yup, you are correct. I’m going to replace the 18g now after reading your comment. Not sure why it auto corrected to 10g lol
I thought you were going to drop it ,when you were leaning side to side.
Avoiding the bumps 😝
Its service time. Yes great video. More videos please.
Hi Handsome. Great looking moto. Could you talk about ,when and why you chose this brand,be specific? How do you like the suspension? What should you upgrade or add to the new 2025 model? Where do you have plans on traveling with your new motorcycle? National Parks or landmarks? Please add safety lights and high visibility stickers on the back ,3m for night driving. Be safe God bless you.
What did you use to get the spring off the rear shock?
For the stock or low boy shock? You need two spanner wrenches that are made to take off those lock nuts.
@@Kahuna_550 So you don't need to compress the spring like you would on a strut on a car, correct?
@@Jalum64 No, it's hard to see but on the low boy shock the part that connects to the engine case screws on and off. The lock nuts compress the spring. Take the lock nuts off and the engine case "screw" part the spring will slide off.
Could you kindly put the part number for the rack? I could not find the side tacks separately.
Hi do you happen to know what size tool do i need to remove front tire? Im buying a brand new ak in the philippines for our philippine loop. I want to buy all the tools i need here in the u.s before my flight.
It's nice. Mine looks better but it isnt
That is a really sweet setup! Also a fellow South Carolinian here. I'm looking to upgrade from my Honda ADV 150 soon. Not a lot to choose from around here when it comes to bigger scooters, but I was thinking either the Yamaha Xmax 300 or the AK 550. Seeing this setup definitely sways me a bit more towards the AK 550 though.
Ak 550 all the way! If you end up buying one message me, ill sell you the side cases and mounting hardware for cheap 😝
Hi I'm from northern California, I own a 2022 honda adv150. I'm also thinking of buying a new 2024 kymco ak550, for the comfort and safety ,size engine and value for your money. Drive safe . Godbless
I live in Paris. The AK550 is the most stolen maxiscooter after the TMax. Also a lot of the AKs get their Brembos stolen to retrofit other bikes with bespoke brackets. People here have a joke that if ur Brembos get stolen, go check out those who ride a Tmax that have aftermarket brembos on them )
Hi link7622, great comment ,write more about Paris ,Have you tried Le Relais de l'Entrecote? What do you think about it ,is it worth the money?
hey, i was wondering how they manage to steal them without the key fob?
When i enter Paris from Amsterdam with the car you see all kinds of Tmax's left and right next to you 😂😂 love Paris
Thanks a lot, buddy! Have a great Thanksgiving!
That looks so cool
Change the belt at 12k? I'll stick with my old Vespa, which is practically maintenance-free
I have a ak550i, is it difficult to change the drive belt? Can you show that also please? 💪
I have a kymco ak 550i super touring. My drive belt got broken. Want to replace it my own. Is this a difficult job to do?
For the rear wheel? A little bit, lot of stuff has to he removed and doing belt tension.
Most important question of them all, How do you reset/turn off service light after oil change?
Click over to your Oil mileage and hold the orange button until it resets.
Thank you 🙏
the extension for spark plus I get it a 5/8" Swivel Magnetic Spark Plug Socket, 3/8" Drive x 10 in. Total Length do I need more length ?? or 5/8" Magnetic Swivel Spark Plug Socket, 3/8" Drive x 11" Extension, 12 Point, CR-V Steel, 360 Degree Swivel
5/8 Magnetic sparkplug socket 3/8 Drive. 11" Extension will work, Swivel is not needed but would help.
thanks for the tip, I get it all the tools belt , filter, roler it have 9000 mi.
Yeah, be good to order now and have it ready. Little expensive for shipping and parts but the tool will pay for itself the first time you is it 😎.
hey dude, how is the under seat storage on this thing? And also how does it handle freeway speeds. I have a 2023 xmax 300 and it sucks on the freeways. Its super skiddish and the wind protection is awful and so is the suspension
