Great video. I’m attempting to follow this video. Just struggling find a t12 torx bit. Searched online and at my local hardware with no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Could you upload the wiring diagram for the connector X10170? I cant find it online and would really appreciate it
Hello Anders, my apologies for the late reply. Please send me an email via funcarsgoodpeople@gmail.com and I will send you any wiring diagram in PDF as you need! There's no standalone wiring diagram for X10170 or X10171. Do you mean the one that I showed in the video? It's the wiring diagram of the heated steering wheel and sure I can send it to you!
If I were to buy a standalone “thermostat connector,” I can just unplug the connector at the transmission pump and plug the new connector in with a battery hooked up to activate the pump without having to cut/spice any of the original wiring?
Hi Aspireonthego, I didn’t know the “thermostat connector” until you mentioned it! Yes I think it will do the job! Thank you for the idea! Now I know where I can buy it 🤗
@ Cool! And then I can just hook up the wires to a portable battery booster using clamps?
Yes the transmission oil pump simply needs 12 volt supply. That’s what I did at the beginning but my booster did not seem to work this way so the pump activation was interrupted. I guess a car battery or power adapter will be more convenient 🤔
@ Great, maybe I’ll give that a try. Thanks for answering my questions!
Best video I have ever seen when it comes to anyone one explaining electrical work. Awesome job
Hi Yair, thank you very much for the comment! I hope it helps 🤗

Amazing video, thanks! Is it possible to listen to OEM FM radio while viewing the carplay screen (even if this means no audio from carplay)? I don't want to have to use data to listen to only radio only
Hello Director 17, the iDrive sees the interface as a CD source but it cannot play the OE radio and CD at the same time. I know some interfaces has radio function but this particular product in this video does not. 🤗
@ thanks, but if I accept no audio from carplay, can the device display carplay while I listen to FM? Very useful thanks for your reply
Hi @@TheDirector17 that's another limit of this interface so the answer is no 😒 It is because the display of CarPlay is triggered by playing the virtual CD (emulated by the interface.) When you tune the FM, CarPlay will be standing by in the background. Hard choice, right 😬
regarding the magnetic oil drain plug, will the crush washers from mann oil filters work?
Hi Albert yes they are in the same spec! I haven't use any one of those coming with the magnetic oil drain plug because I change the oil filter every time. Recently I'm thinking not changing the oil filter every time since the oil appeared to be very clean. Maybe we can change the oil filter every two oil changes so those crush washers that come with the magnetic oil drain plug can be used 😁
Bizarrement je viens de changer mon module AliExpress avec la connexion AUX par le MR 12 volt MOST est le son est moins bon . C’est très bizarre…
Hello scorpioncubain I have the same question! I tuned the EQ equalizer and improved the sound quality but still cannot achieve the previous performance. Maybe I did not tune it right. I will ask Mr12Volt and see what they say and reply to you here.... Why do all people want a rear camera. I think that "technology" is sooooooo overatted
Hi Steve it’s a feature good-to-have 🤗. Some cars are really hard to park nicely (I have the experience… and I believe it’s the car’s design problem 😂). The reverse camera is especially helpful in crowded city. Other than that, I do think a driver should know by heart where the four wheel are 😊
15:34 to work more confortable, using knee pads or a soft layer of padding unber the knee can make the work a lot more confortable. Yes you still have to twist your torso/body, but from knee position it is a lot different because you can lean forward an twist while on the knees.
Thank you Mr. FryFish for the tips! It was my first time and yeah really learned a lot from it 🤗 I hope I never have to go back in there again 😂
So this method can be used for the heated steering wheel, instead of using relays like you’ve shown in other videos? The heated steering wheel would be the only new device I am adding.
Hi Doc yes you are right. It depends on how many unoccupied fuse slots you have for the new devices. If you have enough empty fuse slots than the relays are not necessary 🤗
@@funcarsgoodpeople Thank you! These videos are very well done, and also helped me get better with ISTA!
You are very welcome, Doc! Let me know if your have any questions or interesting findings🤗 Keep in touch!
Hello, i have the CD Changer in my E92, do i have to bypass or deactivate it or will it work plug and play? And if so, how do i bypass it?
Hello Max, you will have to bypass the CD changer by unplugging the fiber optic connector on it and attach a bypass loop to that connector (included in the package. Or it is also available on the internet.) If the CD Changer is not bypassed, the headunit may see a device conflict (I don't think there can be two CDCs on a same MOST circuit.) You can also use the professional way of removing the CDC, see my other video: ua-cam.com/video/RhKOkYNZ65M/v-deo.html but skip the coding part to keep the CDC options.
I’m having problem with oxygen sensor bank 2 with code 275E what sensor would that be? Pre cat or post cat?
Hi Daniel, this code does not mention about the location of the o2 sensor. I searched a little bit and found that code 275E is stored when the air/fuel mixture is too lean/rich. This is when the adaptation has reached its limit and cannot adjust anymore. The code does not say that O2 sensor is broken but it may be possible. I think the pre cat sensor is responsible for this code (where post cat is for monitoring cat conditions) so you can try to replace it if necessary. Please come back and let me know how it goes 🤗
@@funcarsgoodpeople what would I buy then, pre cat sensor?
@@danieldekeyser6477 Hi Daniel, I suggest swapping the bank 2 O2 sensor with bank 1 first to see if the code goes to the bank 1 side. The sensors are not cheap so better have the faulty one confirmed!
Hello Mira thank you for the question. I don't think my method is perfect for everyone but I hope it helps people finding their convenient setup. I want to integrate the interface to the MOST system so it can send sound signal to the amplifier and I can have the best sound quality (but I haven't finish configuring it.) This interface was what I could find for the MOST system at that time. Besides I also want to receive the notifications on the phone so CarPlay is most convenient for me ;) === Здравствуйте, Мира, спасибо за вопрос.
WHY YOU DONT CHOSE THE SAME SPACER F REAR AND FRONT WHEELS ?
Hello Chawki, the E90 M3 has different ET values for the front and rear axis. So the same spacers will make the rear wheels extending more outwards than the front. I want to make the wheel surface flush with the fenders so I had to use front 17.5 mm and rear 10 mm. Later I changed to front 15 mm and rear 12 mm for better fitment (please see the video about Eibach Pro: ua-cam.com/video/ks56usa901w/v-deo.html )

MANY THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR CHALLENGE AND EFFORTS WITH US ; MANY THANKS DEAR FREIND :) more and more succes
Hi Chawki thank you for the feedback! Best wishes to you too!
Hi friend. I have a 2006 BMW 325i n52 engine with ZF transmission. I've been looking for the trouble code a731 supply terminal 30g-f. I've watched all of your videos. Would you have an idea where this would be coming from? I replaced most everything
Hi FIS.org what are the symptoms you are having? I searched this code in bmwfault.codes and found that this code comes from the JBE junction box (the fuse panel.) It mentions about power supply on 30g_f, are some of your modules (non-essential) not having power? For your car model, the 30g_f relay should be built in the JBE. The power management tells the relay to switch off non-essential modules when the battery is low. I guess that your modules on 30g_f is not getting power even when there's no fault so we get the code. If you really have to replace the relay, the whole JBE has to be replaced. But I hoper this is not the case. Please come back and let us know more!
@ Hello, FCGP. I appreciate your response to my inquiry. I have indeed replaced the JBE. The prior JBE was substituted, yet it exhibited the same problem. I was under the impression that the issue had been resolved. Thank you once again, my friend. I will keep you informed of any developments. I am uncertain if any non-essential items are malfunctioning. The car has not functioned properly since I purchased it.
@ I don't notice any problems. It just driving me crazy that I can't figure out why I have these codes.
I see. I'm glad to know that this problem is solved. The E9x series rely much on electronics. Based on my limited experience, the fault codes help us solve 90% of the problems. You are welcome to discuss with me about the codes via email: funcarsgoodpeople@gmail.com
Wynn: I think that product is too expensive ☹️ but it’s indeed a good inspiration for DIY… let’s use teflon or titanium to make another set 😂 I believe it’s easy lathe work. -Carl
Are you sure that you bleed the clutch right? Doesn't it take up air when you release the clutch and the clutch bleeder is open like that?
Hello joakize, I think I did it okay because the feeling on the pedal improved after the fluid change. I guess I was just lucky that air didn't get in. Next time I won't use this primitive method anymore XD I will use a pressure bleeder for the job. Thank you for the comments!
Hi Carl i bought these Hub and i install it with your tutorial 😉 all fits like the video. But, is allway ee have a but! The CD option is shadow and i cant select it. The Modulo have the red light on and is powered ok. The Most net works perfectly, all works, sound, display, idrive button... But i cant select the CD option. If i insert a cd in the main CD Unit, works excellent. My idrive unit is exactly like yours. My car dont have a CDC in the trunk. Is it possible to be solved codding the idrive unit with CDC option? Best Wishes ans continue good work 😉
Hello Gustav, I'm so happy to know that you completed the installation! The hub emulates a CDC on the MOST network so iDrive thinks it's playing sound via a CD. But your iDrive seems to detect some device conflict on the MOST network. And I agree with you that coding is needed. Please refer to my other video about removing CDC: ua-cam.com/video/RhKOkYNZ65M/v-deo.html just do the reverse to add the CDC to the system.
@funcarsgoodpeople Today I code the CCC with SAS code 672, it's the CDC unit. Now in my Autel in the SAS codding recognize the 6 CD drive but nothing happens 🤔 still the same y try to reset the unit, unplug the battery but nothing works.
I see. I guess your tool writes the CAS and/or NFRM module the code 672 (but CCC wasn't written). When you unplug the battery and make the car reboot totally, CCC and MOST read the option code 672 and configure themselves have CDC. Maybe you need to wait longer to make the modules totally reset, but I have never done so. I always use NCS Expert to do the coding and it take effect right away.
Hi Carl. Thanks for all your tips!! All configured and works perfect 😉 using your NCS tips, but in my case the only way to work was removing the CD config and not the CDC. But works 😉 a little tip for anyone. My mic I put it in the other compartment beside the original mic. I remove the interior plastic and I made a hole and put Mimic, the result completely invisible 😉
Wow congrats Gustav, I am so happy for you! Thank you for the feedback, especially the coding tips. I will pin your comment so the folks can use your useful tips! And I will study the coding options again about the CD removal. Stay in touch!
That is a very clean engine bay! I need to get to work on mine after seeing yours. 😁
Hello costarica thank you for the feedback! My OE magnesium-aluminum alloy valve covers suffered from the inevitable corrosion. I just replaced them with NRW Design full aluminum valve covers. They really look great and will never get rotten like the OE ones. The video will come soon! Stay in touch!
I replaced the valve covers on my 2013 as they were weeping. I've owned my car since May 2015. It's great to see that you also have the proper 3-pedal MT. Thanks for the videos.
Oh nice to hear that! Thank you too for chiming in 🤗 The MTs are disappearing… please keep her well maintained💪💪💪
Hi from Saint Louis, Mo USA. God bless you and your family.
Thank you for the kind regards! See you soon 🤗 -Carl
Great informative video!! You sold me on the Mr12Volt. Regarding the rear camera, can you set it so it turns on automatically when put in reverse with a manual transmission like yours? I have a E60 6 speed manual. I rather not have to push the parking button to turn on the camera.
Hello dcp thank you for your feedback! The interface takes the CAN signal to know that the car is in reverse gear so there’s no problem for your E60 manual 🤗 The reverse camera display menu has several options as adapt both OE and aftermarket cameras. I am actually pretty surprised to see this solution because it wasn’t on the user manual 😁 people can also configure the interface to take signal from the reverse light so there’s quite flexibility for the reverse camera setting 👍👍👍
Are you jacking the e90 using the 750E? Or 750EL?
Hello Elden, I chose 2.5 ton lift but I forgot the model was L2500E or L520E. I contacted Luxmain and ordered 110V 60Hz motor which is not on their official website.
Hey, I am currently looking to purchase the magnetic drain plug for my 08' m3 as well. Don't you need 2? One for front sump drain and one for rear (one you installed in the video) ?
Hi Rahim welcome to the S65 DIY gang :D I used only one magnetic drain plug for the engine oil sump because of the bolt design. The OE drain plugs are with hex internal drive, where the one I used in the video has hex external drive. The latter is sticking out of the oil sump a bit much so I decided not to use it in order to keep the ground clearance. Besides, the oil is circulating in the engine so I think one magnet is enough to catch the metal shavings. Oh buy the way, I thing these from ECS Tuning has quality. You can trust them ;)
@@funcarsgoodpeople Awesome, thank you for the info! I ended up realizing that like you said the bolt design wont match for the front. I just did my oil change today and both of the drain plugs were stripped. But thanks to a quality extractor I was able to get them out pretty quick. I also purchased the diff and dct plugs as well so thank you for the recommendation in the videos!
@@rahimrustamov8241 Thank you Rahim for the feedback! It's my pleasure. Please do come back and let us know how those magnetic drain plugs work! In my last engine oil change, the magnetic tip did not have any metal accumulation, only slight sludge. I think my engine is quite healthy🤨

Hi Rahim thank you for the feedback! The valve stem seals project is almost done. I guess I can put everything back next week. There are two videos, the Camaro shifter and E90 soft-close retrofit, in progress of editing. Please stay tuned!
@funcarsgoodpeople can u explain 1 thing as im about to buy this product for my bmw m6.. at the start of video u talk about most bus connection and how its better then the aux channel in bmw (everyone knows how horrible it sounds) but then at the end of video u say the sound quality was worse then if u was using aux? Even after u adjust the eq u say its not as good as aux so im abit confused?? Can u please explain in more detail
Hello AK first it's my bad about the misalignment of my introduction and the review. But they are truly what I think! I believe MOST bus delivers best sound quality (BMW's high end audio options like Logic 7 and Individual Audio are on the MOST bus) so that's why I chose this product (at that time there were no other CCC interfaces using MOST.) What I am not sure is the EQ setting in this interface. By default the sound quality is not satisfying on my Individual Audio. I can tell the power spectrum is weak at certain frequency range :( I tried to tune the EQ but still no success. Maybe it's due to my lack knowledge or experience in tuning the EQ. So if you know car audios (not me) and you really want to use Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, you can give it a shot. For the sake of sound quality, AUX+Individual/Logic 7 is already satisfying. I just wanted to use CarPlay and have fun with this DIY :D Thank you for the comment. More discussions are welcomed!
期待!
謝謝Anson!
Are you still using 5w50 or did you go back to 10w60?
Hi rcz3349, yes I find no problem using 5w50 (mostly daily drive and on highway.) I have magnetic oil drain plug and it doesn't show any abnormalities at oil change. Recently I removed the valve covers and camshafts to replace valve stem seals, and I think the wear conditions are pretty okay. Although I live in a hot climate (20-35 degree C) but I feel 10w60 is too slow for the engine to reach working temperature. 5w50 is satisfying🤗

Hi 1000hp do u mean it s*cks 🫣 but you may send me email regarding anything about the retrofit, I will reply sincerely 🤗 with useful information!
Hi Carl it’s great to see you again here ,and your daughter is so adorable … see you around 🤙🏽
Hello Moudy thank you for the message 🥰 looking forward to our next meeting! Keep in touch!
I was wondering where you went! Glad to hear that you and your family are doing well! Looking forward to more updates and videos!
Hello Isidro, thank you! We'll definitely keep in touch!
Your daughter jasmine is adorable! We’re all excited to see you back hopefully. Being a pilot and father is definetly busy!
Thank you Jovan! Yeah, with 3-4 topics to do, I'm thinking about using AI voiceover to boost the production. See you soon!
🔥🔥🔥 期待新影片!! 以後寶包也可以多客串嗎😆
啊哈哈我也想看看寶包喜不喜歡修車 😆
I am about to do this retrofit thank you for your excellent videos. Please continue to keep it up!!!!
Thank you for the comments! Please come back anytime to share your progress 🤗 My busy working season has just gone, next video is coming soon!
Your the best 👌
Thank you for the comments! I will do my best 😉
Looks great but 400€ is a bit much
Hi ojpsw I totally agree with you. There are so many similar products and they are all made in China. That’s why the quality is so-so, the cost is low and the brand and shops can have room for profit 🤷♂️🤷♂️ anyway I did it for fun 🤗 and I had fun. For me it’s worth it.
Hello friend, what software do you have on your laptop ?
Hi Manuel, this is Rheingold ISTA+ for BMW diagnostics and services. I use it with a K+DCAN USB cable. You can find a free version via the internet. Please prepare 120GB space for the software 🫣
@@funcarsgoodpeople thank you very much!
Hi..getting code 2BC9 today. Its say DME TERMINAL 15 MONITORING. No crank no start. Its just suddenly off while am driving. Was able to started the car bcak untill i reached home. And now NO more.. any idea or help would be much appreciated. Thanks
Hello TY, I looked this code up and it implies the disconnection between the CAS and DME module. This code is due to "Terminal 15 Sense Circuit Low" and its description says check the wiring harness between CAS and DME. However I think that probability is low. I would check the battery first. The power management system will disable the starter motor when the battery energy is below certain threshold (to avoid over-draining the battery.) Many BMWs have such low voltage syndromes so I always suggest to have a fully charged, healthy battery as the first step :)
I remove the 15N but the car still can be started. Why? Are you sure that’s controlling the start/stop?
Hi @edenadamstory, practically the controlling units (CAS, DME and starter motor) take power from 15/15N independently, via not only one fuse. e.g. Some CAS has two fuses on terminal 15. Which BMW model are you working on? Send me an email via funcarsgoodpeople@gmail.com I'll look it up for you :)
Awesome video. I'd like to check the shaded fuse for all of my sensors. I saw a video on here showing me that there was a bank of 5 fuses inside a black case I side the engine fuse box but on mine no such bank exists which suggests it's in the glove fuse box but I have no diagram and no idea where to locate it it :(
Hi Dane thank you for the feedback! Which car model are you talking about? The S65 engine does not have independent fuse for the O2 sensors so I did not have to check them during the troubleshooting. If you are looking for fuse map or wiring diagram for a BMW, you can mail me funcarsgoodpeople@gmail.com and I will look it up for you 🤗
i don’t have a need for anything to do with cd so can i just unplug it all and leave the amp plugged in ?
Hi maxlee yes, you can skip coding, but you will need to bypass the CD changer with an fibre optic (available on net) to keep the MOST loop intact/closed. Or you can refer to 12:05 to reconfigure the MOST hub to bypass the CD changer. Otherwise there will be no sound when the MOST loop being open.
Have you thought about making a full video on this process? I did a little research and I believe the retrofit is done with an F10 soft close motor, correct?
Hello convella, yes I really want to make a full video about the #softclose #retrofit but still find no time for it. I have all the video materials for it and I promise I will! And you are right! Please send me an email funcarsgoodpeople@gmail.com and I can send you relative information like BMW wiring diagrams, photos about the installation. Thank you!
Came into the video not expecting much, but wow this video is amazing!! The lengths you made to go and explain each step, process, how things work, etc is awesome. You explain very intricate details in a format that’s very easy to follow and understand. You earned a sub my friend!
Hello convella thank you very much! I really enjoy sharing ideas with people and I hope my videos are useful. Please come back anytime and see if my other videos can give you any new idea. This year has been particularly busy for me so my DIY projects and videos are still pending. I will be back soon, I promise!
Finally got around to running the mic cable into the roof light. It’s very tricky to pop those two clips out using your method. But you can more easily reach underneath the roof lining where it meets the windscreen and pop them with your fingers. Thanks for your great video! I also ran the USB cable through the dash and into the small storage compartment next to the drivers knee. Drilled a small hole in the top of the compartment. Phone is now mounted just above that on the air vent. (I can’t use WiFi as my car keeps taking over my home WiFi audio system)
Hello chivalruss350, thank you very much too for your feedback! I’m feeling happy for you! Indeed the light switch cluster is pretty hard to pop up with the BMW method 😂 I had a difficult time too! Thanks for the tip! The interface is powered via terminal 30g which should shut down in 30 minutes after you lock the car. So the WiFi from the interface should also terminate as the car sleeps, unless the car detects the key in its vicinity and starts awake. Please be careful of the power drain problem!
I did not do that last DSC step. Is that why my pedal still touches the floor? I was a bit confused with that procedure.
I did not leave any air bubbles nor have leaks.
Hi gabby, the activation of DSC pump is to remove air bubbles in the DSC module (there are many valves to regulate hydraulic pressure for the brakes.) I don't think you have to do this procedure every time unless your brake system is used heavily. And I don't think it is related to the pedal touching the floor. Did your pedal touch the floor before the service? If so I guess the pedal mechanism needs to be checked.
@@funcarsgoodpeople yes it touched before and I change brake pads, rotors and fluid. Also made sure no bubbles or leaks were detected
@@gabby811ify have you found out yet why the pedal touched the floors? I have been looking through the M3 Forums and they are not doing the last DSC steps and not having any problems.
@@SuperPandaren yea I’ve seen that ppl don’t have issues when doing the DSC either. My best guess is that the master cylinder can be it.
非常棒且非常詳細的影片,期待後續後鏡頭的安裝分享!
謝謝你!kh,很高興受到你的肯定!今年我當了新手爸爸,實在是太忙了。我也希望能再度有時間來DIY還有製作影片...
