      Hello Sunly thank you for the comments! I am happy you like it.
      This is one of my early productions so I believe I could have done better. Any suggestion is welcomed. I am making more DIY videos about the E9x M3! The next big one will be valve stem seal replacement DIY... stay tuned!

      Hello costarica thank you for the feedback! My OE magnesium-aluminum alloy valve covers suffered from the inevitable corrosion. I just replaced them with NRW Design full aluminum valve covers. They really look great and will never get rotten like the OE ones. The video will come soon! Stay in touch!

      I replaced the valve covers on my 2013 as they were weeping. I've owned my car since May 2015. It's great to see that you also have the proper 3-pedal MT. Thanks for the videos.

    Not so difficult right? You can do it at home with proper tool and knowledge. It's just like servicing two I4-engines 😆

    I just finished doing my valve cover gasket and spark plugs on my E90 M3. It was much easier than I expected. Worth noting, swap out the fuel tank breather valve while you have the main intake plenum off (not done here in this vid).

    • @funcarsgoodpeople
      @funcarsgoodpeople  2 роки тому

      Hi Elrod thank you for the advice! It sure is laborious to take care of stuffs in the Valley 😆 I have the throttle body actuators to replace so I will mention this advice in the future video.
      Do you have any recommended reference for doing the valve cover gasket? I have no clues about that work yet 🤔

    Hey! This was a great tutorial and your car is super clean. The vanos covers have been a newly found issue with the car and it'd be great to see an install of a snap on Vanos cover if you ever consider doing that job.

    im planning on doing the same, replacing the spark plugs and ignition coils for my bmw m3 e92 2013 i cant find any bosch ignition coils but i did find NGK ones available would those work ? i wanted to buy bmw ones from the dealer but they are $400 CANADIAN $ each which is insane

    • @funcarsgoodpeople
      @funcarsgoodpeople  2 роки тому +1

      Hello Juan the NGK LKR8AP plugs are exactly the designated parts on the parts catalog so yes! just go ahead!
      I have heard about price of coils going up in my area like 294 Canadian $. Yeah it’s crazy but I found BMW coils on Schmiedmann.com around 183 Canadian $. Sounds no bad?
      I had replaced the ignition plugs only and there was no problem. The engine even ran noticeably smoother. However there is also saying that the plug and coil need to be replaced together, in order no to damage each other if one of them malfunctions. I am not sure about this idea, just FYI.

      No I haven’t replaced the coils yet. I’ll consider Schmiedmann next time if they have better price.
      Instead I’ve bought some other small parts from them. They do provide good sales service and fast international shipping 👍

    How do you know when it's time to replace the coils instead of reusing them. Thanks

    • @funcarsgoodpeople
      @funcarsgoodpeople  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Lawrence! I have got the following summary after reading the service manual in ISTA;
      An ignition coil is suggested to be replaced if you find the following:
      1. Damaging or crack on the body that impair the functionality.
      2. Discoloration on the body that shows damaging inside the coil.
      3. Contamination on the coil that makes the body deform.
      The manual also note that:
      An ignition coil function check is not planned in the Service department, as the ignition coils can only be checked meaningfully under load. E.g. through swapping (fault code entry travels along, very complex).
      (You can email to funcarsgoodpeople@gmail.com and I can send you the PDF print of the manual.)
      In my opinion, I will replace an ignition coil when there's significant fault in it, e.g. engine running rough, misfiring, fault codes due to failure of a coil.
      Of course car parts degrade over time so I will also consider replacing all the coils at a longer interval like 100k km. That's a ton of money right? Economy is also something we have to think about 🤗

      @@funcarsgoodpeople Thanks for the comprehensive reply Carl! yes cost is always an issue. Cold start on my m3 gets quite rough which triggers all sort of misfire codes on all 8 cylinders. Once its warmed up, and I clear the faults, they don't come back until the next cold start haha. Still don't know whats wrong. Look forward to more update on your channel!

    • @funcarsgoodpeople
      @funcarsgoodpeople  2 роки тому

      Oh Lawrence I had the same situation a long time ago! It's the cold start function that makes all the misfiring codes. It is designed to speed up the cats temperature to meet the emission requirements. I guess this however become troublesome for all the M3 owners.
      I went to a tuner to disable the cold start function and never get the misfiring codes anymore. See my other video ua-cam.com/video/9n33de17WiI/v-deo.html at 20:19, the engine goes normal idle speed right after start.
