RC addict. Love for vintage and very modern cars, trucks, bikes and quite a few aircraft, EDF's and a Helicopter or seven
Nothing beats a good restoration on a vintage model. On the flip side, a solid bash session with the X-Maxx 8s is quite therapeutic lol.

Sorry for the wind noise...forgot my sock. Another couple of flights (same 6s battery pack) after painting the tail blades using Tamiya PS-1. DJI mini 4 pro blades have to be the most difficult to paint!! Went well no paint lost. Slight tail rotor vibration after re-shimming the blades in the hub. They're rather tight. After a little flying they found their centre. Re-Shimmed them again with a ...

Took a couple of temp readings (Stayed very cool) and explored a bit more of the flight envelope being a little more aggressive with the sticks. Absolutely rock solid. Really happy with the performance. Though the sticks on the Fly Sky Transmitter is a little vague around the centre with my thumbs. This is the physical detent o...

My most recent addition. A Brand New Old Stock Marui Ninja from 1987. Box is a little tatty, discoloured and torn underneath. This particular kit came from Japan. Unfortunately due to to Japan's strict customs, the damper oil and grease had to be removed as they're prohibited to export. The kit is missing the box wrench also, which I did know about. One thing I love about these cars is the plas...

My lastest addition. The Tokyo Marui Ninja from 1987. One of, if not the sexiest looking 4wd buggy from the golden era of RC. This particular one was restored by a previous owner which included a full ball bearing set. I've stripped it down just to double check the buggy and found nothing broken or missing apart from a couple of screws in the rear chassis "brace" a few wrong sized screws here a...

Apologise for the unscripted waffle lol. A little tour of my Favourite RC's on a newly purchased rack I've bought. It's 1800mm high x 1500mm wide. Added some led strip lighting as you'll see in the vid. Have a little thing going at the moment with vintage RC cars. Marui Ninja from 1987 incoming too. Coming from the UK. Wow, it's Air Wolf.
TOP...SHOW👍🇧🇷.
TOP...BELL.222.TA.PA.NASSE.O👍🇧🇷UTRO.IGUAL..SEU.MODELO.
Hello, I am super new to the hobby, really enjoying you site. I have noticed your helicopter when initially taking off slowly and smoothly rises from the take off point. In other videos it seem to spring unnaturally in to the air. Have you made any adjustments or this this attributed to your skill with the remote ? I have not purchased the air wolf but have been saving my money 🙂
There's a trick to it. Lift the collective/throttle stick to 52-55% for a couple of seconds and release it. The heli will lift off gently. If you've never flown a RC heli before I'd highly recommend getting an RC simulator to learn how to fly at least the basics. It's very worth it as you'll progress without crashing a real RC helicopter. If you rely on GPS and it drops off you need to take full control and fly it yourself. As you can imagine 2 x 500mm blades spinning at 2000+rpm is very dangerous. The Flysky transmitter plugs right into the cable. Aliexpress and ebay have a 4 in 1 RC simulator for cheap. Cheers for your comment.
Nice. I would like to see scale counter clockwise rotation and tail rotor on the left side like the full size Airwolf.
Same... pretty tough to find though, except for micro helis.
Fantástico.

hey Steve I'm Ryan Moore im looking for an rc helicopter that looks just like the real airwolf
Hi Ryan, here's the link. I've painted the main rotor and tail blades plus tinted the windows on mine. There's a quick review on my channel. Highly recommend learning to fly RC helis before you fly these around. These things are very dangerous.. a.aliexpress.com/_mPINSwR
Straight from the TV show that music. And the game on Commodore 64😅
Les roues d´atterrissage qui ce rétracte dans le fuselage c´est une option où d´origine sur le flishRc?
The retracts come standard on the 500 sized FlishRC Airwolf.
Awwwsom 😊, great tv pro too
Very cool! Gorgeous machine, especially when the gear is up!
😳😲 Whoa! Air Wolf, that is one sexy aircraft 🥰🫶👍😎💯
Looks better than the actual Airwolf
I used to watch that come out of the volcano as a kid and thought that thing looked so menacing. Cant wait till your done with blue thunder so they can fly together.😮😮
Would absolutely LOVE A Blue Thunder model.. My Fav Heli from the 80's.
Looks like the real thing. stunning machine.
Awesome!!! ❤❤❤❤
I've got 2 trex 500 helicopters with H1 in them flying good one going in a scale body sounds like you have an electric tail motor that sound spoilt it for me.
Fair enough. The new tail blades that they send with the newer version are much quieter. You don't even notice it when it's more than 20m away. I find the heli very quiet.
I normally don’t upvote rc stuff. This is big time exception. Very good

Could you activate the ATT mode that fly wing has? Did you have to do compass calibration too?
@@THEMIGHTYCB Of course. All the modes are available. 1400 ATT, 1300 6G, as well as the stock RTH, GPS and 3D. Its all programmable through the transmitter menu. Stock FlySky transmitter has a 3 position switch but if you bind it with a modern computer radio you can use it's 5 position switch to have all modes available.
@@THEMIGHTYCB also no i didn't need to calibrate the compass. The latest model firmware you dont need to.
@ Awesome thanks heaps! I will program it for home, gps and ATT I reckon
@@steveblackbird That is so handy
@THEMIGHTYCB that's what I have programmed with mine. Once I'm competent with that, then 6G... and then 3D. Though on a sim I can fly in full 3D mode.. I do occasionally crash from being too cocky lol.
I've had the FW450 V3 airwolf for a while and now ordered the blackhawk 500 scale haha oh my my bank is hatting me lol

Back in the day when I actually watched TV. Great show
Era lo más hermoso
This is awesome, can u run through all the mods u did please? Painting blades? Smoked glass etc. Is this good for beginners? I only fly drones but so want an airwolf
@@maximusvr46 Too easy. No mods needed for flying it out of the box. Tail blades were painted using Tamiya PS-1 white polycarbonate paint is much more flexible. Main blades were masked off so the bottom doesn't get painted. I used Tamiya TS-26 pure white with TS-16 yellow for the tips. The tinted windows are TS-71 smoke. Go very easy with the smoke.. multiple very light coats. It's as easy to fly as a DJI drone in GPS mode. Everything you see in the vid is how they arrive. Ready to fly.
@@maximusvr46 One thing I'll add.. each blade is near 500mm long.. spinning at 2000 RPM. These helis are very dangerous in the wrong hands. They're expensive but in my case totally worth the money. Personally.. get an rc simulator for your PC and practice with a 3d helicopter (the transmitter plugs right in so you dont have to get another controller for your PC or laptop...so you have at least a little backround skill.
@steveblackbird great advice thanks, which rc sim do u recommend? Is it just usb into the pc with the RC? And its recognised?
@maximusvr46 I've got a few like Real Flight, and Phoenix. Aliexpress has a setup that includes 4-5 sims in one bundle with cables and USB dongle with CD for installs. Easy setup. Yes it recognises the controller.
Great video 👍is fly wing airwolf better than flush 500?? What is difference ?? Thank you
@@michaellui74 The flywing version is about half the size. FlishRC has weapons and retractable landing gear, where the Flywing doesn't have them.
Beautiful 😍
Hi, I have one myself and want to know where did you buy the white blades? Yours look spectacular with the white blades.
@@riaangeldenhuys6937 Spare set of carbon blades from FlishRC. I painted them with Tamiya TS paint on top. Masked off the lower surface so its still showing carbon underneath. The stock grey blades are my spare set.
Don't forget to balance your blades after painting them too.
I appreciate you coming back to me. Thanx alot will do so.
Hi, i have one myself and like your white blades. Where did you buy the white blades?
@@riaangeldenhuys6937 I painted them using tamiya spray paint.
Looks epic mate, and nice job flying her👍
Great video easy to fly?? Thank you
@@michaellui74 In GPS mode... exactly like a DJI drone. Smooth and quiet.
@@steveblackbird thank you watching you from San Francisco
Beautiful 👍👍
Much nicer than the Flywing version I must admit. Guns look great and retracts..
Completely agree, I almost bought the Flywing version. Solid helis in their own right. After I discovered the FlishRC version being nearly double the size, Being 500 sized v's 450, The scale guns and retracts I felt it was worth the asking price. It's quite a big heli in person.
Great video 👍love this airwolf tv show growing up. How much did airwolf cost USD?? Can begginer fly this airwolf?? Thanks 🙏
@@michaellui74 yes beginners can fly it in GPS. 3D needs a lot of practice on a sim before you fly for real. Check the link in the description. Cheers for the comment.
@@steveblackbird thank you please show how to fly just subscribe to your channel . Planning to buy one thanks 🙏
@@michaellui74 They fly just like a drone (DJI for example) easy as. Difference is you choose mode 1 or mode 2 depending on what you're used to if you've flown model aircraft before. It would be easier to find a drone channel that's more professional than I am lol. Just a heads up with this big heli. Remember each blade is almost 500mm long spinning at 2000rpm..... It can kill. Cheers for the sub!!
Please post another video when you have the nav lights mounted and possibly talk high level on what you needed to do to get them in. I will be ordering this puppy soon!
I plan to...Cheers for the comment!! I've ordered the light kit from FlishRC with the nav light lenses. Problem is that the fibreglass where the tail position light and the left and right position lights are, on the sponsons, is rather thick so if I mounted them from the inside there's going to be a fair amount of material removal required if they're going to be visible from the outside. That could go south very quickly if I'm not careful. 5mm straw hat LEDs. Runs off a spare RX channel.
Lovely looking model mate! 👌 The GPS sounds extremely helpful.....especially with my flying skills! Looks great in action! 👍 👍 👍
I bet that's more challenging than flying a drone
It's got a flight controller that has a GPS mode so flys just like a drone. Though, It's a lot more dangerous..2 x 500mm blades spinning at 2000rpm with about 10hp behind them isn't for the feint of heart lol. Giant flying killer lawnmower. Flick of the switch it becomes a proper RC helicopter. I've been practicing on an RC heli simulator for a long time plus my experience from 15 odd years ago, and soon I'll take this up in 3D mode to fly like a proper collective pitch heli. Just gotta get over the fear of flying it in the mean time.
@@steveblackbird sounds like fun and a lot to learn 🙂
Nice video of a sweet bird. I love FlishRC helicopters. IMO...they are the best in the business. I currently have 15 Flish helicopters and they all fly as good as they look. Congrats!
@@StingraysVideos Thank you for sharing. I can definitely see why you have that many. They really are at another level. Flish as a company are run well. Their aftersales service is sensational.
@@steveblackbird Totally agree!
I'll add too, the various videos on UA-cam, showing takeoffs with the H1 flight controller, launching off the ground, suddenly, didn't happen on my Airwolf as I fed in positive pitch very slowly and carefully. As you can see it settled about a foot off the ground. Landings are just as gentle. This is one very well sorted helicopter. Towards the end of the 2nd flight I barely touched 1/4 stick deflection showing that this Heli would have some serious speed at full stick deflection. Impressive!!!
There is a little trick with H1 unit. If you put throttle at 50% (center) raise to about 52-53% hold for 2 seconds then return throttle to 50% it'll do a super slow take off.... as you say yours doesn't rocket off as other H1 Helis but if they do then that little trick works flawlessly. The FW450 Is one of these rockets! Link to this trick in use on a fw450 v3..... ua-cam.com/users/shortsSyfawol-KC8?si=ZbNxC94WYQzVKYHR
@@Tucker_T Thankyou for the tip!!! I'll give it a shot next time I'm out. My sticks are spring loaded to centralise as I didn't want a ratchet to contend with when finding the centre so it'll hover steady and not drift up or down. The Fly Sky TX has fairly weak springs than what I'm used to but lots of sim time has me much more used to it.
@steveblackbird I use radiolink at10 II on my flywing helis (good enough) I too took out my ratchet and added a spring to my throttle . Mainly because that take off trick works best with a spring loaded cyclic (throttle). Also in gps mode you need sticks centred to get a stable hover, for those reasons I added a spring. As you raise stick from centre (tiny amount) hold for 2 seconds then release stick back to centre (50%) a little trickier without the spring loaded throttle.
@@Tucker_T You are a legend!! Thank You!! I did the 52-53% trick with the collective and it worked perfectly today... Was very happy with how it slowly rose up!!! Very scale looking... unfortunately I forgot to hit record on my camera and only got a short vid of a hover with my phone lol. Epic!!
@steveblackbird Awesome!! Can be a little fidly but once you get it once it's easily done.... great little trick isn't it! I hated it when my fw450 took off like a rocket to a set altitude, so much better this way 👍
Can you load the link where you buy the spear parts?
There is no link. Parts are extremely difficult to find. Try Ebay and lots of patience. Sorry I couldn't help more.
Great score!
Fantastic buggy. Thanks 😊
Thank You Luke. You won't believe what's coming next though...A Brand new in Box one from Japan!!!! Soon as it arrives I'll video it!!! Really excited!
Would that cause high speed wobble on pavement?
Generally the wobble is caused by having TSM turned up too high. I generally run TSM at about 10-12%. Its well known that the steering oscillates at high throttle when turned up. The shimming helps it turn in a little sharper and hold a straight line better at high speeds. Hope that helps.
@steveblackbird5174 thank you for the response!
Entertaining video fella, thanks for sharing! Firstly, loving the Avante 2011! Good call with matching up the decals to the original, and for the delightful technigold motor! I have a 2011 and black special yet to be built! Like you, I lusted after this model in the late eighties, and Tamiya done a great job with the re release. Your 959's are stunning mate! 👌 I used to own one back in 1988,and have built another two, and a Celica GRB in recent years. They are truly unique, and a joy to drive. I restored one 959 to 'as new' condition, and a Celica GRB also to as new condition. I then built a runner 959 with the left over pieces!! (the one you saw on our slalom video!) As you correctly pointed out, these cars were inherently weak when they came out..... and after 3 decades the ABS is now so fragile. These cars are plagued by cracked wishbones/arms, hubs, and central chassis mounting points. The body is as thin as tracing paper, and soooo fragile! Great call on the alloy wishbones, this is essential if you wish to drive these cars, and I have upgraded all of mine on my runner to aluminium. And yes, the eyes are a nightmare to paint.... In fact the whole body and cockpit is a major stress! I would strongly recommend against changing the decals on both cars matey...... The originals really don't look bad, and the MCI ones don't quite match the originals in colour. You will also find it really hard removing the old ones, and risk damaging the body! I will look forward to seeing a running video for the car that you will be driving. I have quite a few videos of mine up at Green Hawks RC, the Porshe 959 and Toyota Celica GRB summer photo shoot shows them off in full glory if you are interested! There's also one of the restoration of my mint one! These cars are truly iconic in the Tamiya time line, so should be looked after and cherished for years to come..... great work dude! 😊 👍 👍 👍
Thankyou for watching and your fantastic reply. Awesome! It's a tragedy that they get so brittle. I recently bought a Marui Ninja and the plastics are still very flexible. Shame that the Tamiya ABS is so hard and brittle in comparison. You're going to hate me but.... I've changed a few of the decals already on my shelf queen and the runner (Damaged decals) TBH they look wonderful. Story behind MCI too...all good news.. I bought a set of the MCI Avante 1988 decals but the colours were quite dull and washed out especially the yellow. I sent Nathaneal an email with some pics, and he sent me out another set and they were 10x better. The yellow was deep and vibrant. Actually matched the kit ones. I think the Porsche 959 set was the same. Really hard pressed to tell the difference except the gold stripe...It's not as faded...Now that looks perfect. Yeah I changed the originality and I did think long and hard about it but a few were set crooked too. That drives me nuts lol. They actually came off easily too. No damage to the body and I removed a little paint from where the engine intakes were as they were originally masked off incorrectly. (You can see the white/blue line is wrong) It's as per kit now. I'm on leave atm so if the weather behaves I'll take the 959 runner and the Ninja out for a quick spin. Thank you for watching!!!
@@steveblackbird Yeah fella, Tamiyas plastics were always the most brittle..... which only got worse with age! But the 959 was notoriously bad even back in the day when it first came out..... I was forever breaking wishbones and hubs on my one in the eighties! Of course, parts availability was superb back then, with well stocked model shops in most towns..... something that is pretty much extinct now sadly. A lot of the 959s issues were down to its size, being 1/12 scale, the arms and hubs were not beefy enough to handle the various screws and pins that went into them, especially under load. Many would crack simply by the screws entering the component! Marui and Kyosho used far better flexible plastic that has held up very well to this day. I've restored many vintage rc cars from the eighties, and the Tamiyas usually just fall to bits as you disassemble them!. Any plastic parts that don't break during the restoration will soon also break within the first few drives..... that's where re release models come in handy as a source of brand new genuine and identical parts trees. Vintage kyosho plastic parts are very rarely broken, and last many years. Sounds like you done well with the decals, and great service from MCI by the sounds of things. I can fully understand why you went that route. I've had bad experience with repro decals many times in the past, and was never happy with the reproduction ones I used on my shelf queen 959 (I only used the gold and red stripe, the rest of the original ones were OK) It bugged me every time I looked at it- The gold stripe was totally the wrong shade, and way too thick! I've since managed to source an original new old stock genuine decal sheet and have now replaced the gold and red stripe on my shelf queen one..... But boy they were expensive! Well worth it though to finish the car off though. The reproduction decals on the runner one are AWFUL..... but I'm not so fussed about that one as it gets a beating whilst driven anyway! I bet your two look amazing on the shelf next to the gorgeous Avante.... I must build my Avante's and Egress one day, but with over 30 cars I'm fast running out of room!! All good fun though! 😉 👍 👍 👍
Who is faster? Arrma felony 6s with 27 tooth pinion or Traxxas xo-1?
Traxxas X-01 will do 100mph out of the box. Arrma Felony 80-85 mph with 27t pinion. I've hit 100mph with a 32t pinion. You need very good quality batteries 100+C and feed the throttle on slowly. You'll need a long smooth road.
I regret not buying one of these back in the day. They’re beautiful along with the chain drive Samurai. 😊
I'd never seen one here in Australia. Absolutely frothed over it as a kid. The Samurai is another beautiful buggy too. Even tougher to find!!
