That's a brilliant idea!!! Trust me to think of the hardest way possible!! hahaha Kevin Talbot just uploaded a video today on a new X-Maxx and the things he does to improve the reliability which covers this steering post mod and servo saver mod which I think are very important! Cheers for the suggestion!!
@@steveblackbird I've used them for a custom body mount system on another rig that's why it came to my mind quickly. I have some coming soon for the xmaxx we'll see how well they fit.
@@steveblackbird with the riv nut I used a 35mm long bolt for more thread protrusion. I also drilled out the original plastic threads so the new nut gets fully seated.
@@LiquidSSSnake Good work!! These mods go a long way increasing how reliable the steering on the X-Maxx gets. First time my steering post broke the steering became wobbly as all hell. Took a good minute to figure out what was wrong. My servo saver stripped out so drilled it out like you did. It's a big RC to have swaying left and right going full speed.
It's the part. Once you introduce flex at the base it snaps off. Steering gets floppy and the car moves about excessively. The bolt mod gives it more strength and minimises that flex to help stop it breaking off. Since doing that mod I haven't broken any steering posts.
Great idea! I have a suggestion, an M3 Rivet Nut should fit in the hole without any extra work of drilling and tapping a screw.

Is the problem the part or is it that the screw isn’t strong enough?
