LRGB Galaxy Processing (Threading the Needle)
Переглядів 1,2 тис.4 роки тому
In this video, I'll walk through my steps when processing a galaxy, especially when it's a smaller part of your frame. The image I'm working on is an LRGB combination of images of the Needle Galaxy (NGC 4565), taken over the few clear nights we've had in Dallas the last few weeks. My stars aren't great and I'm shooting through light pollution, so hopefully this gives you hope as not a "perfect"...

Sharpcap Live Stacking tips and SGP for EAA?
That's great. Mine came out like your first shot, and i thought that's all I'm going to get. I will have another go with your tips as soon as the weather in London improves.
Thank you!! You are so incredibly talented at teaching, explaining and you're very personable in your video's. These videos you produce are an absolute treasure for us budding astronomers.
Thanks so much for this excellent tutorial. Question, please: Is binning done in post or during sub captire? Thanks, Michael
VERY informative - I have SharpCap but am still just using ASI Air and an uncooled ASI294 on a C9.25/.63 & EQ6. I learnt a lot from following through this. Now to try to start darks and flats and maybe dithering (I have a guide scope and Mini ASI that came with my used pile of stuff). It seems that having the camera at the same temp allows you to use library calibration. Again, you really know your stuff and very well structured. Impressive & subbed.
Many of the things I want to photograph are not visible with my telescope in my Bortle 6 sky. So, I plate solve, using SharpCap.
Quite nice! Just subscribed!
Only 1/3 in and this is one of the best explanations I have seen. Excellent
I’m confused what picture what binding was
I have asi585 and I tried bin 2x2 and had more noise than bin 1x1 Thanks for a helpful video
I've been looking for a video about livestacking for a long time. This one is the best I've found so far. Great! Thank you very much!
Useful information. Thanks.
So without HA flter the nebula wont show up?
My only doubt is about the usb ports, wont you be causing any kind of conflict when you start to connect guide camera, mount, polemaster all together comunicating to a single USB port?
So if i use something like a asi2600mm with 3.76um pixel size on a 200mm lens and I do a mosaic, I can increase the resolution?
How does this compare to OnStep?
super. can you please list the gears you have used, other than FSQ106. please include the cable management power box / mini PC, guide scope, focuser etc
Why not teach beginners with live session, live stacking, you extract old pics from your computer, why, you are so laisy ?
The only problem is with my zwo planetary camera, when I'm imaging fainter things like Pluto, the eagle nebula or the pinwheel galaxy, i want the best resolution but if I use binning 1, I have to dramatically increase exposure time to even get the image to show up
SGP !?!?
For some reason I get a black screen? I enjoyed the audio though.👍
This is delightful and very simple to understand for a beginner like myself. Thank you!
I just got my 8" Edge setup last night for first light. Achieving focus for the main camera wasn't difficult, but I could not get anything from the guide cam (174-mini) no matter how far away or close the sensor was to the OAG prism. I'm going to try during daylight. I did notice some prism obstruction from the T-adapter when visually looking through guide. I swapped out the T-adapter for the OAG SCT adapter, which doesn't show any obstruction. I'm hoping that was the primary issue. As a bonus, the SCT adapter got me to the correct back-focus.
Was that a filter that you yoused
Excellent tutorial that is detailed and straight to the point with no bs. This video was a huge help. Many thanks, Lazy.
I have aa C14 on the CEM60EC mount (which has RA encoder) Do you know what PHD2 algorithm I should use with the encoder? Would I be better off to turn the encoder off and allow PHD2 to correct for both mount axis errors? I am running at F7 with the ZWO071MCpro camera at bin2 and off axis guider ZWO290mm mini. Thanks
Such a wonderful video. My Eagle 4 Pro arrives today and I'm excited. I subscribed to your channel. How did you install your software. I'm guess through remote desktop
Come back. We need ya. It’s hard to balance real life demands with a night of astro outside, I know. 😄
You still using the 8” Edge? I’ve only used the ASI2600MC and .7x reducer with it. I’m thinking about using my ASI294MM bin 2 and no reducer. Will F10 be okay to image with?
When doing flats, I just pointed the camera straight up, stretched a tshirt over the lens hood and then placed an ipad with a white screen ontop. Easy
I got a £20 dew heater and it's really made it so then I don't need to worry about condensation
Its so odd to me that you use the same date format for your folders. I learned it that way from my father and i‘ve never seen it anywhere else up until now in your video. A very good video thanks for the tips
Where've you been?
LOL! Never get into a land war with Asians? WTF? 🤣
I know this video is 3 years now has any opinions changed since you made this? This did not turn me off the eagle but enlightened other options to try with out spending so much.
Congratulations! I had the same experience two months ago and was so excited. In my case it was the asteroid Chryseis. can you please tell me which nebula were you capturing? The one that appears in this video.
Great video. Will a hydrogen alpha filter work with a dslr? Will you get a color shift?
You saved me so much potential frustration. Thank you!
Love the Moon
Excellent presentation! Thank you so much!
First one is better. Reflection nebulas should be dark, like thunderstorm clouds, but not with artificial red cast.
Best video I have seen on sharpcap.
I badly need to bin but i'm confused about software bin vs hardware bin, if it can all be done on cmos in software/post, there's no need to bin while shooting? (Well in my case it might be anyway since my mount is performing bad). What makes your complete composed stack so clean? Even tho your S and O is more noisy
@What could go wrong? - Niagara edition I wonder if i can bin the already binned photos of my phones cmos sensor. Unfortunately i can't afford PI. So, is there any other software to bin photos? Also my phone does a 2x2 binning at 12mp, could i apply a 3x3 binning with a software to achive 5.3mp photos out of 48mp unbinned image? Thank you.
Hi John - I’ve played this entire video twice now and took notes . I’m new to EAA , don’t want to spend a lot of time in processing , so live stacking was for me. Had a good experience live stacking m42, decent stacked image . However I was very disappointed last night trying to live stack the Leo Triplet galaxies . Even after 15 minutes of stacking with 30 second exposures, the galaxies were still just shapeless fuzzies . I thought I’d at least see the shape of the galaxy after a live stack . Perfectly clear night , city with lots of light pollution , zwo asi294mcpro camera , duo band filter , Celestron AVx mount. The images of the Leo triplet was not any better than what I’d see if I just did visual astronomy on it , so I was let down . Is this expected ?
Great job going through sharpcap step by step.
Hi Iam a newbie. Is sharpcap live stacking developing an image live, like Stellina?
I searched for a video just like yours! I had a thought come to mind which is... if the earth is rotating, wouldn't the earth's rotation distort the planes flight path shown on this time-lapse? Why are the flight paths straight, from entrance of frame to exit? Am i making sense to you?
Hey. Just bought a refurbished CEM60EC like you recommended. Really looking forward to using a mount I can relay in Bortle 6 skys (My CCD needs some long exposures to get to it's Mean ADU). Thanks for the video 🙂
20:00 no réductor ?
Exactly the video I was looking for as to binning in pixinsight. I like your style. Great video.
Nice video comparison. After all I've been through in the 6 years trying this and that, I finally settled on the ZWO ASI Air Pro/Plus. They're cheap enough at $299 and come ready to run right out of the box. The only downside is that you're locked into ZWO products unlike the Stellarmate. Where the Air Pro is incredibly easy to use and set up, the Stellarmate is incredibly hard to configure and run. TBH I've had enough with downloading 4 or 5 different programs and trying to get them to play nice with one another on a computer. I don't even want to think about how many rare, clear nights I've lost because of a software glitch or a com port conflict. And every time Windows updated, it caused more problems. Give the ASI Air a try. You won't be disappointed. I promise.
