I believe the Autostakkert sharpening function is only meant for preview, not to actually use in a processed image. Registax wavelet sharpening seems to be a popular sharpening option.
Just found your channel and enjoy the info and detailed way you describe your personal journey through astro photography. I've been a pro nature photographer for 50 years and have just started astro imaging in the last couple of years, your info is helping to ease me into the technical part. Hope to see much more!
Excellent results. Motivated me to go out and image the moon to try doing the mosaic for a full high res image using my Nexstar 6se. I love your videos, they have been a great help. Keep up the awesome work and keep the videos coming.
I found a good way to proceed. Find the brightest spot on the Moon, and expose that correctly. Use the same settings for all the other regions, except for particularly dark spots, where i just raise the gain as little as possible. It helps MS ICE match up your panes better. Also, make sure you crop away any framing artifacts on your panes.
That's weird. I see the product page still exists, but the download links go to broken pages. I wonder if it's just a temporary problem or if it's being retired. The program is freeware, however, and searching for it shows a lot of of download mirrors. The version I'm on is 2.0.3.0, which I think was the most recent.
@@lazyastronomy3348 I think that the link has been broken for some time and it could be permanent. Mine was downloaded nearly three years ago and it is the same version as yours.

very nice and sharp...
Very clear tutorial! Thank you! Can't wait to get started
Love the Moon
Cant download ICE from microsucks anymore.
Don't suppose you still have a copy?
Nice tutorial
Very nice. I tried using ICE before but I was able to see the seam. I'll need to try it again. This came out great!
ICE does sometimes have more noticeable seams. I try to normally match brightness levels as much as I can first to help minimize that. Good luck!
@@lazyastronomy3348 can't download it anymore. I don't suppose you got a copy you can put up on a download site do you?

thanks for the informative tutorial. ICE is no longer available for download in Microsoft download center
