3 JOBS with the LOWEST CLEAR RATE in FRU FFXIV!
It's just impossible to balance each job on every single patch with this much job in FFXIV. In this video we will take a look at FRU and the jobs that clears the least and why those jobs are favored less compared to the other ones in this patch of 7.1

5 HARDEST ULTIMATE PHASES IN FFXIV

Final Fantasy XIV’s Ultimate fights are the pinnacle of raid difficulty, designed to push even the most skilled players to their limits. Previously, we just cleared the current FRU - and can't help ourselves to compare it with the past ultimates. In this video, I tried to list my top 5 picks for the hardest ultimate phases (very subjective btw) based on how I progress through it for the very fi...

The patch 7.1 brings a brand new ultimate to the table, Future's Rewritten Ultimate or FRU. Which I personally has been looking forward to since the day it was announced- because Eden was the first raid tier that I started to get into FFXIV, which I believe a lot of you guys too. Simply put, the forced 2 cartridge won't happen anymore because you can enter any odd minute window with just 2 cartridges. But it also comes at the cost of us not being able to enter even minute window with 3 cartridges it has to be less than 3. because if you enter with 3 cartridge, you will have to spend a burst strike before you fill your cartridge with Bloodfest and that will put your last...

Dawntrail Tank skill updates recap & thoughts - FFXIV Job Actions Trailer
i hate the saying that oh rpr is really good in this phase because you can pool resources and thats the pro of the job i swapped to sam for fru this ult i cleared dsr and top as rpr and it was miserable af i dont give a shit that i pump like a motherfucker in the last phase when the rest of the fight i have to plan out my gauge to prep it for the next phase its just not fun playing non gauge reliant jobs that just works no matter the phase is just so much more relaxing and flexible for me
Summoner still after 3+ years feels unfinished, i wish that Summoner would get more utility and being able to actually combine the Primals to get certain mixed - up skills out of it. But instead Summoner got Solar Bahamut which you have inbetween the regular Bahamut and Phoenix which makes the order of summons even weirder. I think these 3 major summons should always be open and you should be able to choose which one you activate right now, that would help. I said it once and i said it again, Machinist's Flamethrower should be changed to a auto - turrent that attacks bosses and adds on it's own with fire, maybe overclock it to a laser or something for extra dps. The biggest issue that i see with Reaper is that you have two extra skill to apply Death's Design that are outside of applying this debuff completely useless and it doesn't feel great to use these skills and delaying your combo for them. Deaths Design should be either a reward for doing your positional or part of the Gibbet, Gallows and Guillotine combo. I think positionals should be rewarded with actual debuff and buff than with a little bit of extra damage.
The issue with Summoner is that downtime in the fight is atrocious for one minute bursts The first mechanic already drifts your Bahamut so far that you may not even be able to get it realigned for p2-3 transition. I brought it in for one lockout and now would rather play literally any other caster.
Not really. The fight is bad for summoner's design specifically, other high burst jobs are doing just fine. Nin is the epitome of a 1 minute burst and it's doing pretty well. Monk and Dragoon are slightly higher consistent damage but both are also one minute burst jobs with a lot of their potency crammed into that window and they're doing fantastic. Downtime actually has the potential to favor high burst/low consistency jobs depending on length of downtime. If you're something like Nin that does a large portion of it's damage inside it's small burst window, downtime outside of that window is going to favor you far more than something like a black mage which has much more consistent damage.
You shouldn’t be comparing MCH to picto or other selfish dps. Thats a common mistake ppl make. You compare it to brd and dnc because the 1% buff you get from having 1 phys range offsets that difference anyways. Its picked less because in organized team play bard and dnc are always better where MCH shines over bard when you have dps dying and shines over dnc w/e their dance partner dies. Since that rarely happens in pulls that matter they are always considered bad unless they flat out do more rdps than dnc/brd. As far as your downtime argument you are pretty much spot on with MCH and the other DPS but i am just added extra context ontop of that. Also absolutely no phys range should be beating any caster otherwise theres a balance issue.
Whoops..my group as all three.
Wait.. what's the last one?
lol no reaper slander best class in the game
Oh no poor summoners
Been that way since EW tbh.
@MyVanir wow 1 whole expansion ago
@ ?
but their clear rate on patch is very high in EW ultimates. It still have a place amongst casters until picto came lol
No nerfs only buffs
Hi, RPR player currently progging FRU. And I think you're close with your analysis but it's not Viper that RPR's are playing, it's DRG. DRG has a significantly better time in this fight due to the fact that it has no real problem with downtime since 1 min and 2 min bursts are basically priority systems of which oGCD to press. The only thing that's a negative for it is having to adjust to applying the DoT every time the boss appears again, but that should come with a short amount of practice. The gauge building issues are also rather indepth as well. Because you have to hold 50 gauge to get into the next window, your damage on phase 1 tends to be quite low. There might be a line where you get to spend that gauge and get 50, but you likely need to kill p1 early meaning the rest of the group doesn't get the time they need to set up properly. It's actually been quite a fun puzzle setting up damage through lines for this fight as a RPR. But because of that extra chunk of work some players might not enjoy that and want something a little easier, which DRG, NIN, and MNK all provide. VPR also suffers from these problems, but has the extra issue of having it's GCD speed tied to a buff that needs uptime, which is why I think if any RPR player was looking at a different melee to have in their back pocket, DRG was pretty much the only choice, especially if you struggled to get gear.
Valid reason. They share the same gear too. Idk why this didn't cross my mind. Even my RPR player swapped to DRG first before the group requested RDM for prog.
as MCH, cause you can't stack ressources on down time, you hold it on uptime. part of the optimisation is to loose dps, not using drills to instead comboing/ aoeing to stack ressources you will spend where you grp have struggle (sometimes overcaping is better for your grp). it makes it look worse than he is. going P5 with 100 on both ressources makes it not too bad for the only dps check that maters.
Approaching p3+ oftentimes I would do extra prog with static members in pf. We had a really hard time filling our pfs just because one of our members was a SMN. Additionally, there were multiple instances where I would join a pf to prog and it would never seem to fill - simply because there was a SMN in the group... In terms of actual dps, we were fine so long as there were 0 deaths and we made small adjustments depending on comp(e.g. as a SCH I would sometimes Chain a tank crystal). If someone wasn't pulling their weight in intermission, we would need to LB the big crystal. This wasn't a big problem as the p3 check is a joke anyways. All that said, we cleared shortly after Christmas without a picto. 😁
Its honestly so frustrating trying to pf fru on summoner I gave up and swapped to picto. I literally can't join half the parties because everyone locks the one caster spot to picto
Hang in there buddy.
Well, this happened to me some years ago with Bard... i just stopped doing savage, ultimate and expert, and never did any of them for some years now. And looking at these stats, the only reason Bard can go in these dungeons is because the buffs=))
> Join 7.0 EX3 for mount farm in PF last month > That PF has D3 & D4 as machinist & summoner comp > We try 5 times but not a single run can't pass phase 1 enrage check. Always leaving with 1-3% HP (or 3-5% if melees get rekt) > Leader ask D3 & D4 to change job if their can politely. Machinist has only 1 lv.100 job & Summoner refuse to change to picto cuz he doesn't want to play meta > Vote abandon initiate and party immediately disband > 10 min later after I pick coffee cup, found PF with same leader name. With D3 set to BRD, DNC and D4 set to BLM, PCT, RDM Btw, I agree with your clip 😂
@@K.G.Farfrow If a double MCH + SMN + third DPS can't clear, people need to check gear, food, melds, and if the people even understand how to play their job properly. EX3 is a fight with nearly 100% up time, especially for phys ranged jobs and insta cast galore SMN, which means neither should have much drift or issues aligning their rotation. MCH is also one I find people play because it's "simple" even though I personally spent a decent amount of time missing even small obvious stuff like it being better to put a single charge oGCD between chainsaw and its follow up since chainsaw starts cooling down the moment you use it even though you can't see it. I've cleared EX3 over 20 times with MCH with all kinds of team comps including a PCT that couldn't even land higher on the aggro list than the healers. It really isn't a hard fight with a couple DPS on top of their rotation and people simply not dying, even the "problem" jobs. It will punish a lack of job proficiency though.
Sounds like a tank , healer and dps not pressing their buttons to me tbh. Ex3 has no dps checks and it is a fight you can drag dead people across the finish line 😂
Honestly I don't think they need to change the fact that picto benefits from downtime, but I think it needs a nerf so it also isn't the best in full uptime either to bring it more in line. It should do more damage than Red Mage, but still a good bit less than Black Mage in full uptime in my opinion. Machinist needs radical buffs to bring its damage up to be at least on par with Red Mage, though I feel like they deserve the most to be right behind melee. I also feel like they should make it so you can use flamethrower to generate heat and potentially even battery gauge so they can deal with downtime scenarios better. It would also make Flamethrower an actually useful button. Outside of that, I feel like the balance is mostly fine in terms of damage.
I agree. The issue is with their motif skills' potency.
Controversial opinion but i think Machinist should do more damage than Ninja
well tbf as of right now in full uptime encounters a good blm will beat picto and viper aswell is above picto, altho by a very miniscule margin. I do still agree tho, as a buffing job not to mention the other tools picto has it should defenitly be significantly lower in full uptime. However SE is adamant they will not nerf picto and keep stating they'll buff other jobs to match it but well... can see how that went so far
@@ZaraZela Honestly I don't find that fair considering Picto is way less effort than Black Mage, and while it's not like they ever balanced around that, I do feel like that gap between them should be larger in favor of Black Mage. God, every time I hear that statement from SE being referenced I simply cannot get over how utterly idiotic it is. Not only does buffing all jobs to pictomancer's level completely powercreep older content because they refuse to only implement the buffs at the relevant level cap (Legacy Ultimates all had their damage checks neutered because of this), but it's also *12 TIMES MORE EFFORT* than just nerfing Pictomancer. What a waste of dev time just to avoid ruffling a few feathers that could have been spent literally anywhere else.
@@NotRealAkira Black Mage isn't even the hard caster anymore though. I'd argue it's become the easiest caster at level 100. All rng/procs have been removed from the rotation, the only optimization they have left is when to use your instant casts, and they have a million instant casts now so that's not even hard.
they design and appertize adps jobs and rdps jobs but in reality, the game is all about rdps, cause adps always naturally sit at the bottom of the ladder. then, there's these adps jobs with raidbuffs...they really need to re-define the difference of "selfish jobs" and buff jobs
I think Cdps is a way more reliable metric. It literally stands for contributed dps. It accounts for both Adps and Rdps combined.
It's good to note the most important dps check, in p5, highly favors jobs like rpr, while also widening the gap between jobs like mch and bard. It'd be good to show how you're filtering fflogs statistics, and consider the context of padding when comparing peaks.
It isn't that Summoners have the lowest "clear rate" per se. All the good summoners who've been playing since 3.x are just clearing on other jobs waiting in vain for SE to unbork their favorite job. You heard right.
I feel like on day 1 the biggest reason our Summoner swapped off, and understandably so, was how horrible it felt to play with the desync of 1 minutes.. thats of course a problem on other jobs too, but Summoner pressing searing light without even having a proper primal up, and THEN being forced to use Phoenix on every single next burst window? that just feels horrible on many levels And delaying that 1 min in p1 just doesnt feel right either, youre just stuck using the worst spell in your kit..
Also have to consider not everyone picks what jobs they want to play based on balance or fflogs or what would be meta for dps checks in fights but rather their personal enjoyment and fun. Some jobs had their gameplay loop gutted and job fantasy wasn't enough to keep people on the job. I can't speak for mch as I dislike playing phys ranged in generall for different reasons that are difficult to explain other than playing them feels bad imo. If the draw to playing smn/rpr was ease/job coolness, why stay on smn if theres another just as easy and cooler caster. Rpr and vip are basically the same job, vip is just faster and has more ogcds and is the newer job. At the end of the day its just a big case of "I don't want to play with you anymore".
true
Im not sure when the dps jobs were so unbalanced with damage ..well I cant remember how long it has been with the differences on dps.
I find it strange how much stock you put in selfish DPS’s rdps-ADPS is a more important factor with them
rdps is what kills the boss, hence why it's the default metric.
@ Rdps is a metric of what you + your raid buffs do… meaning it’s practically worthless for selfish dps. ADPS is what you put *into* raid buffs, which is much more important.
Even if you look at adps the same issues mentioned still persist.
@@ninjamonkey5697 similar issues for sure, I think it just shows them in a more disingenuous light. The issue with MCH being lowest in rdps is emblematic that it needs buffed, but if you look at ADPS you see it isn’t like completely unusable fodder like rdps portrays it. You can still do ‘well’ with it, it just isn’t as strong as the other pranged.
We mainly default to rdps because it's the most equitable way to compare dps contribution between selfish and non-selfish jobs. It isn't perfect, but it's the best we have for this purpose. If we're comparing the peak across selfish jobs only (such as tanks), then you'd be right in saying adps is in many cases the most accurate/meaningful metric
I wish rpr had vpr resouce generation. Vpr can easily generate enough gauge to odd minute reawaken, and even minute double reawaken. Every time. Rpr at 2.49 will eventually lose its odd minute enshroud and if you get 1 gcd of downtime it happens a minute sooner. Makes it feel like shit in ultimates imo. There could be simple fixes like make the enhanced gibet/gallows give 20 gauge and the new big button tied to arcane circle should give 10.
Phase 6 TOP Of anyone dies before enrage its over plus the butt clenching from cannons I fear for phys range mostly
Wish I could put it all on the first hotbar set playing on ps5
Thanks so much for this guide and for using both voice and text as it helps me really absorb the information. It's hard to read just text guides or watch rotation videos without it being broken down an explained clearly.
Now can you do one for PvP:3
@@theloneshadow14 i barely do pvp
Would the top 10 hardest fights in the game be ranked like this? 1. TOP 2. DSR 3. FRU 4. UCOB 5. TEA 6. T7S MINE 7. UWU 8. P8S MINE 9. A8S MINE 10. E8S MINE
BJCC is dirt easy
TOP was my very first ultimate that i cleared. The amount of hours i put into studying p5 was insane. Never knew a boss phase could be this technical. And after many hours of studying, simming and farming I'm still reliant on a teammate to solve p5 omega lol
@@riddert4966 If you have trouble reading the omega dodges, Xivsim has a good sim for that, it helped me out a lot when I was progging and when I occasionally go back into top I spend a good 10 minutes in there to warm up lmao.
Clearly this list is wrong, Final Word is the hardest mechanic in the whole game. Getting a FFXIV player to do literally nothing for 5 seconds is truly impossible content. :3c
the exas r the hardest
my king
Towers in UCOB was probably the hardest for my group. For TEA it had to be wormhole until I made a macro for my static. Don’t think we’ll ever do top
Those two are definitely some of the hardest mechanics in the game. If the other mech in that phase is harder, I would easily pick it.
Depending on your role, split BJCC is insanely easy xD
Playing caster on moof strat is quite literally standing still for the entire phase
@@Thundawich 100%. MT literally sits on a lawn chair sipping a Corona at North until BPOG.
Great video but ill be honest dsr p2 and p3 are harder than 2-5 The whole list could be dsr 😂. Would love to see a big list
Honorable Mentions: - P2 UCoB - P2 TOP - P5 DSR
Haven't watched the vid yet but tbh this whole list could be just top phases lol.
I'd disagree with that tbh. P1 isn't hard, you just learn the prio and movement and then use your eyes to see if you have to flex. P2 is polarizing because I actually think Party Synergy is the hardest mechanic in TOP, but it's immediately followed by Limitless Synergy which is the easiest mechanic in top. P3 is also polarizing, Hello World is one of the easiest mechanics in TOP, followed immediately by Monitors which, while not the hardest mechanic ever, has enough nuance to make it annoying to prog. P4 isn't a real phase. Melee lb3, move left and right a bunch, boom ya done. P5 as a whole is definitely one of if not the most difficult phases in an ultimate. P6 is, much like every final ultimate phase, a study check under massive pressure. None of the mechanics are particularly difficult, the difficulty comes from the pressure of being 17 minutes into the fight and one mistake meaning you get set back to the start.
@@Spiritchuckpvp if party synergy wasn't early in the fight, and sandwiched between some of the easiest mechanics in ultimates. id say it would've been hardest ultimate mechanic ever.
@@revolver9345 Agreed, I don't think there's a single standalone mechanic as hard as party synergy. It's not even a complicated mechanic, the difficulty is the speed. In the span of like 7 seconds you need to ascertain where the eye is, what your color is, whether you need to flex for your color partner (healers need not apply), what the debuff is, identify which clones are real, and what weapons each real clone has. But like you said, it's early on into the fight so you'll get a ton of reps and get a lot of muscle memory for it. If Omega dodges were this hard, it would be the single hardest thing in this game, full stop.
Great list! Agree with all of it as a melee dps!
My operner is quite a lil altered what the balance say i usually do high jump then grie and starcrossed before i weave my lifesurge to do heavensthrust what i notice drg is the only dps is the easiest to look at their burst window since the 2min burst rotation looks like your opener and pretty much that its just rinse and repeat but thats just how i see it.
what language does your static speak? trying my hardest to figure it out

You a Viera so I follow (I’m Viera)
5:47 Is it me, or is the math there wrong? For example, Confiteor does 1k potency, but you have it listed as 2k potency already, and then have it say that the cleave makes it do 50% less damage... Which somehow brings the potency up to 3000 instead of making it 1500 potency which it should be. Also Circle of Scorn and Blade of Honour aren't included even though they also do AoE or cleave damage respectively. The point you make is valid despite this, since the errors are fairly consistent, but this bothered me a bit so I had to say something. Was this done to account for raid buffs or was this just a mistake?
it's calculated per 2 mins to make it even with 2 min skills like shb & lionheart, so it's x2 since confiteor is a 1 min skill. 3k is the total, since 2k + ( 2k * 50%). but you're right that i forgot to include cos & boh. my bad.
@@aylaveen Oh, I see, that makes more sense. Thank you for explaining.
@@aylaveen The tables are incorrect for DRK and GNB. DRK doesn’t include Living Shadow’s cleave and GNB doesn’t include bow shock.
Thats a very interesting outlook, haven't gotten that far progging in PF, but thats awesome knowing that the cleave will work there lol. I think a large playerbase is also locked based on what class people geared from savage ofc since its on-content ultimate. Else I would've been flexing all tanks
I like the quote that FRU isn't an Ultimate unless you don't have a PCT in your party XD, you really feel it when P1 enrages with 0.2% left even though your team played almost perfectly (have VPR as well as one of our melee which I heard is pretty struggle bus in Ultimate so far). Progging on DRK cause it's my fave job in the game, in a "semi-midcore" static raiding 3 times a week for 3 hours, with our prog point of P2 Mirror Mirror. I have to say figuring out DRK optimization has been really fun both in terms of opener/rotation and mit as FRU is probably the first Ultimate I will clear (have gotten to Mario Kart in TEA and P3 Enrage of DSR), so I haven't had a lot of overall experience with Ultimates and even less as my main role of tank (only did the first phase of TEA as PLD in the last 2 weeks of ShB, progged DSR on DNC until static disbanded). But yeah, it's fun, hoping to clear before 7.2 with the static but will go into PF if it doesn't seem like that will happen. I would like to see how GNB optimizes in FRU as DT first tier was my first time maining GNB with my new static and learning how to optimize rotation, as my main co-tank at the time in ShB and EW was a GNB main. But yeah, looking to clear Soon™and have fun while doing it XD.
DRK AoE is a gain on 3 now above level 96 :)
