    As a PLD main, I literally just want more actions, particularly attacks, that actually use the shield. Its the one unique part of PLD's gear, let me use it more proactively.

      i feel like they need to add a ability that can be triggered after blocking. its just extra damage, but it involves the shield. it will make the job more reactive and busy i think. especially when using bulwark. so the rotation damage wise isnt static and boring. they need to make more jobs more reactive based i feel.

    I'm relatively sure that the Goring Blade and Sonic Break changes were made for the action change system they're adding, mainly just to condense the two buttons into one

    DRK gameplay every expansion always feels like it’s defined by how Delirium works. Combo finisher (multi combos) > extend blood wep / price and mp (DA hyper spam) > BS x5 spam (homogenization) > BS x3 spam > enable new combo string
    Also the new line AoE attack is a different (albeit reminiscent) animation from the PvP limit break

    The only thing about WAR that I'd want changed is the animation of Storm's Path to Butcher's Block.
    Everything else we've seen and that has been talked about seems to be as close to my personal idea of the perfect job.
    I love it so much.

    Overall, it looks like 100 GNB is gonna play more like 80 GNB again.
    -Lionheart combo doesn't use continuation, so it's 3 gcds where you can weave everything like mits and reposition the boss.
    -Technically don't need any carts going into burst now, giving more flexibility across the board.
    -Lionheart is probably a beefy potency, like the Blade combo on PLD. That lessens the crit variance problem by giving more high potency GCDs you can get your crits on. No more /statusoff Superbolide when your double downs don't dcrit.
    -You'll actually use some burst strikes outside of 1 and 2 minutes again. That's an overall potency increase.

      Do you think bloodfest will see a reduction in the CD to bring it more in line with requiescat? As it stands we'd only have it every other burst window.

    On your point about Dark Knight hopefully not being super easy while remaining the hardest hitting tank, well, I hate to inform you but it hasn't been the hardest hitting tank for quite some time. It's actually the worst in just about every fight. Maybe you meant the opposite? Regardless, job balance is at its poorest after an expansion launch so I suppose we will see. In my opinion tanks have enjoyed quite a healthy balance as far as being so close in damage together that it really doesn't matter in the long run, just play what you enjoy (or whatever invuln cheese you can cook up in a fight). As long as GNB remains on top (not totally biased at all)

      I have to respectfully disagree with your statement on DRK being the worst one. As a DRK tank myself i can tell you from my experience the only tank hitting harder then the Knight is the Warrior. I know this cause every time I was tanking dailies in the last like month and a bit the only tank that could out-power me and pull enemies off of me when I was main tanking and they were off-tanking is Warrior when we both had stances up. Paladins had no chance at this and Gunbreakers only could when I was slipping. In my opinion the worst tank ingame right now is Paladin cause they can't die unless the person messes up badly but they do NO damage whatsoever making every pull take longer then any other tank. Gunbreaker is barely ahead of this as the only time I see Gunbreaker do any good is if the guy really knows how to play it well.

      I'm a tank main. I use all 4 tanks. Drk easily hits the hardest and more consistently on the dps side. Where it's lacking is lifesteal which i think it should have simply from the name blood weapon as a buff.

      Oh I agree, I tried all 4 tanks and the DRK was my fav but I WISH it had more self sustain, class dies way too easily if the healer is caught napping when it comes to your health bar on accident. Worst healer pair up with a DRK is WHM by far for this lack of self sustain since it's the slowest healer with the 3 main heal skills​@@aphilli97

      @@aphilli97 I've been playing the game since 1.0, and have actively been playing everything for a long time now. DRK does not hit the hardest in any fight unless you are counting aDPS, of which it's only at top in a few. Also you shouldn't be counting aDPS as an accurate metric of job balance, it should be rDPS. GNB and WAR are the most consistent top damage tanks, with PLD 3rd and DRK at 4th.

    Even if the buttons turn into the skills we have the option to separate it on those specific skills so you can add it to your hotbar separately

    I really dont care about the damage a class does as long as it's within a few percent and the content is similarly difficult on any job. I don't really like that we have to complain about the damage a tank does based on how "easy" it is to play. The only things it should be are fun, intuitive and balanced.
    My main gripe is that yoshi p stopped on the drk slide, knowing the fans have been asking for something interesting to tell us we should wait for 8.0 for "individuality." Was there nothing that could be done other than to take away one button and give another 2 min button?

    I kinda love that the ff14 team is basically going "use your damn buffs" like i think every class that can buff itself or its party is either obligated now or they benefit more from it

      The problem is that the very casual players don't read their tooltips and about 20% of the tanks you run into in 90 dungeons still don't use their mitigation

    Hiya! Very nice and structured video as always :D. These gnb changes are looking pretty nice in my opinion. Initially i was hoping for the dev team to fix the mit weaving issues caused by hypervelocity. I was thinking about something along the lines of ninja's raiju management where you would get a stack of hypervelocity every time you use burst strike and you would be free to weave them in whenever you want.
    But the addition of the lionheart combo solves the issue while adding a cool animation so thats even better.

    with the lionheart combo. assuming it as much or more damage than Burst strike / hypervelocity
    I describe it as now Bloodfest gives you 6 cartridges because the 3 gcd cartridge uses you'd spam on burst strike are replaced with lionheart which is free. and thus you have those three extra carts to use in the filler, to smooth out any downtime or drifting issues ect. ect.

    I was hoping for more self heals for Dark Knight but from the look of the visuals that doesn't seem to be the case. Only Souleater appeared to have the heal animation.

      I wish they didnt change DRK from heavensward & stormblood expansions. Dungeons were extremely fun to tank and drk could self heal like crazy, basically just like a warrior. Plus i feel like the mana regen was so much better.
      I havent touched drk since they changed it :( Its just unplayable for me

    I think the new part combo uses hypervelocity so it proably replaces burst strike adding a new combo on the same key when u hit bloodfest

    As a gnb main i have mixed feelings, the extra chain if no (no mercy) extension, then honestly bloodfest wouldnt have much use besides a random charge dump prior to the 2 minute to not overcap constantly, kinda hoping the combo costs cartridges otherwise, at a 2.5 you already use 5 garunteed gcds of 8 in the nm window, and the extra 3 are burst for use of bloodfest. Mixed feelings until we see more honestly

    Losing like 3 oGCDs is not making DRK easier, is making it less painful to play... You still have a lot of double weaving to do, esp with mitigations (DRK still has 1 more miti than other tanks). That said, DRK and GNB are meant to be the highest dps, even after losing 3 oGCDs, DRK is way more busier and less tanky than WAR or PLD. It makes zero sense that on DRK you press more buttoms and does less damage, it's just bad game design.

    On the one hand losing potency on the gap closers for drk / gnb will help burst abit, On the other (until it's confirmed) Rip Plunge and Rough divine animations. New dashs are fairly meh imho, like they copy pasted Drg Gnb and Drk to just rush menacingly to the enemy. feelsbad.

    Hoping Bow Shock isn't gone. I'd love to keep it for dungeon pulls at least. Maybe shared cooldown with Sonic Break.

    Not sure if I'm tripping balls or if when WAR did that hit after primal rend the axe he was using became giant, as in, the one he has equipped
    If that's the case there's some wespons where that attack is gonna look so fucking good

    Dark Knights are consistently at the bottom of dps charts amongst their tank peers though 3:10

      ​​​​​@@MidoriGrey Nah DRK was nuts in the first savage Tier but WAR was the weakest Tank dps wise (DPS > Rest)
      When EW starts DRK have the highest dps of all Tanks
      The DPS was first literally DRK>GNB>= _Old_ PLD>WAR
      Then DRK and GNB Comb was the best and after P8S and some Tanks like WAR and PLD was "to weak" for the week 1 dps check its go weird.
      Just watch the Xenosys Video about P8S P1.. they cant beat the dps check until Xenos switch from WAR to GNB

      are you looking at rdps or adps / ndps / cdps in the funny number site? check the job balance again, but with different categories

      PS. Some people just get their 99 Pink Parse by just repeating a spreadsheet they find somewhere in the internet and then repeat the fight often enough until they have the right crit rng (Yeah.. Luck!)

    i loved gunbreaker in shb but having to save up 3 cartridges for every burst window now has kinda ruined the job for me

    so when are they gonna upgrade the fast blade and riot blade animations? because they seem to be lazy and just upgrade already existing abilities in other jobs, why havent they done these already? like damn it feels so boring pressing my melee combo once i come out of magic phase.

    Im just glad GNB rotation are less boring now. no more Burst strike spam for that 3 cart Bloodfest, so i guess instead of ramping up 3 carts before 2min burst, we can just dump Burst strikes every after 123 combo. but we'll see how it goes. Im excited to Main GNB again next expac

    As someone who has been playing FF14 when Weeping City and Nidhogg were relevant during 3.x patch cycles, Dark Knight got oversimplified when Shadowbringers media tour info dropped, and Living Shadow remains an inconvenient pet that does nothing outside of do damage for 20+ seconds which seems to be doing even less damage now that Plunge is basically confirmed removed in Dawntrail as a result and the devs more than likely forgot to adjust the potency on Living Shadow to reflect Plunge being removed...
    But then again I have never been fan of Living Shadow to begin with, and I would rather have to an 6-7 step AoE GCD burst combo that costs 3k MP on a 30 second cooldown alongside a 3-4 step single target GCD burst combo that costs 3k MP on a 15 second cooldown, that applies buffs on the Dark Knight and debuffs on the enemies that are the negative equivalents of Dark Knight's buffs, just to make the GCD rotation look less boring.
    So yeah, TL;DR version : the devs hate Dark Knight and Dark Knight players, as seen in Shadowbringers, Endwalker, and now Dawntrail, and honestly, the feeling is mutual towards the devs at this point...

    The stuff they are doing to Dark Knight makes me upset honestly. Removing the only reliable way to restore MP fast in a fight early levels forcing people to have to use Carve and Spit which is 60, which is in my opinion the worse of the 2 drain attacks flat out compaired to Abyssal Drain, while doing less damage overall, is an AoE that heals both HP and MP. It isn't very good for people who either have to or choose to use a controller since those are far more limiting then PC hotbars. This is doubly so cause if they are turning Delirium into a combo instead of what it currently is, it's just gonna add more buttons that need to be put on a hotbar unless they go the PvP route where the entire combo is one button pushed 3 times, and, as somebody who uses a controller cause I don't have a usable setup for keyboard/mouse mainly, this just makes things painful as you'll have to add a third group of hotbars which makes it harder overall to play. In my opinion that change alone is gonna make Dark Knight just not really as fun to play cause your gonna get a senseless and needless third combo at who knows what level and make MP management harder which is inadvertently gonna just nerf the Dark Knight cause the damage boost from the Darkness bar is gonna be harder to maintain.

      As a fellow controller player are you currently unable to fit everything on your cross hot bar in Endwalker? Cause outside of Paladin (where I only got rid of the meme skill Shield bash) I've been able to comfortably play with all skills on most jobs. Currently with my setup I have 32 button slots to work with. I use the setting on the cross hotbar that lets me access two additional hotbars by holding down both triggers in different orders. I also make sure those two extra hot bars are visible to track cooldowns
      DRK has exactly 32 buttons in EW. So I'm a bit worried about the future of the job when more buttons come, but I can probably figure something out if it gets bad, probably something like an AoE layout vs a Single Target layout to save on space.

      Honestly, it's probably an error on my part as I don't see the other bars I just switch using RB but I also don't really like how cluttered my screen is with the default settings. It's my own preference to try to limit it to 2 bars I have to cycle through​ so I only got my "main" bar and a "back" bar and the silly like menu one to cycle...can't do it with WHM sadly though, too many heals and necessary stuff@RagnellHD

      @@Phantasia100 I managed to not make it not cluttered at all, just by using HUD layout for size and placement adjustments. The additional hotbars are smaller than the main one and fit neatly above without much additional screen space. If I could link images I would show you what mine looks like, but unfortunately not possible in a UA-cam comment section, though a quick Google search can likely show you some good examples.

    Am I the only one who thinks gunbreaker has the worst aoe animations? Like worse than warrior's inner chaos. It's spin to the right, spin to the left, spin to the left one more time. really boring in comparison to every other tank aoe animation.

      The current casual content is way to easy.. i hope the next alliance raid is on the same Level like in ShB or even better SB
