Very nice 😍
I saw your Orchid Blooming in the background. And a potted Palm. I Espescially Love my New Hobby of 40+ Houseplants in the Winter. I propagate many. Find Thrift store Pots and Planters ($1-$2) and Donate to Senior Centers come Spring. Loved the Video!!!
❤❤❤
Great timing! 👏 I've been wanting to make a belt pouch for my archery kit.
Beautiful scenery! And beautiful robe!
I have purchased that same pattern. You have encouraged me to make them.
These bags are excellent! I have been avoiding making these bags for a friend who goes to Ren fairs
These pouches are so cute🥰
Adorable! What a fun project. I might have to make some of these for gifts 🎁
They would make awesome gifts!
Man, everybody got sick right after Christmas here, too. I love the pouches! Keep warm, fellow hobbitess!
Pouches, pockets, bags, and backpacks All the portable stuffs in proper places! and your gorgeous hand stitching!
Very nice pounces. I’ve been meaning to see several shallow ones to strap onto a belt and use rather than a generic synthetic fabric and nylon belted fanny pack. This is giving me some motivation to try making my own patterns! Originally I wanted to use thrifted leather but I’ve not had luck in finding any yet.
Your robe is so cozy!!!! And yay for pouches🎉🎉🎉
I enjoy my hand sewing + like U use it as needed + as U please! The bags look good on Ur belt! Love tthe green:) be blessed all
Thanks!
I’ve made about a dozen of the drawstring pouches the past several years and I just made myself one for this year’s faire yesterday. The directions for sewing the lining are a little unclear but I figured it out after a bit of frustration: Place the outside of the pouch into the lining, right sides together. Sew the lining to the pouch along the top edge from seam to seam. Do not sew where the loop and flap are on the back of the pouch. You’ll use that opening to turn it. After you turn it you’ll sew the opening closed by top stitching all the way around. Two other things I’ve learned: 1. Sew the ties ends into the lining as you sew the lining front and back together. It lines up to the grommets better. 2. The bias tape around the flap should not be cut even with the top edge of the flap. Leave it a little longer so that the bias tape ends are neatly tucked between the two layers of the pouch when it’s sewn. The bias tape can fray at the ends and if it’s longer it’s easier to keep it neatly between the two layers of the pouch. Hope this helps.
What a fun project!
Excellent hobbity-hibernating stash busting project! I have this pattern and will defiantly be tackling it now.
I love that your time tracking breakdown is by media too ^.^ it’s cool seeing what others go tos are!
Very nice 👏🏼 thank you for posting!❤
Fabulous coat!!!
beautiful ! thank you for sharing. Jan. 2025
Very nice, but I would never attempt it, nope! I would buy and love it, but that is it.
I suppose if Hamilton has a fabric district, it makes sense that TO would have one too. Not that I''ve been there since my teens, but yeah. Telling myself "no" is really hard sometimes, I went past this hideous purple and camel plaid that my mom hates three times at Fabricland while looking for something else (which I also found) and something in me kept saying "buy it!" so I got some (it was unidentified fibres and cheap and included purple). Then found myself in the same place again after a burn test showed it wasn't just polyester. I bought the rest. No regrets. I got ten metres and it's like a coating wool (turned out not to be wool, despite being scratchy like wool and felting like wool, it doesn't dissolve in bleach, nor does it discolour... I'm still not sure what it is but it doesn't ball up when burned so I'm guessing acrylic and hey at least I don't have to worry about the moths getting it like they get everything else) and I've made several glorious garments out of it and I still have enough left for more!
Eurgh so glad someone else also feels the same about being well "endowed" and trying out regency styles. Doesn't help not many women in regency period films are smaller chested. I've always wondered what it was like during the period for women with larger chests...
Definitely a-historical, but I wonder if this could be combined with a quilt as you go method so you don’t have to do the tie-ing off separately. The backing would definitely not look as clean, but it would have the charm that the inside of the top has.

I enjoyed hearing and seeing your quilt. I’m thinking I might make myself a crazy quilt, and like yourself I would like it to be constructed along the way of days of the past.❤
When using floss, how many strands are used?
It depended on the thread I was using, and the stitch design. For the cotton threads I used 2-3 strands doubled up, and for thicker silk thread I used a single strand.
So I'm guessing 3 strands double is what I'm looking for. Needles are the hard thing to figure out. Seems the bigger the needle, the duller they are..
Oh wow, this is so much work! But the coat turned out stunning. I love that it holds many memories. Maybe someday I´m going to make something like this
This video popped into my feed today, as a fan of LOTR and sewing, I can’t believe I haven’t run across you before. You did a beautiful job, the color of the collar & cuffs is so complimentary. I’m now a subscriber!
I had one of my headphone ears off when i started the video and so there was just no audio for the talking and it took 15 seconds for me to figure it out. That's too long to figure it out.
It's AMAZING! How do you plan to launder it? Will it have to be dry cleaned?
That is a very good question...my current plan is to spot clean by hand as needed, and avoid wearing it against bare skin to minimize body oil transfer. I think if it ends up really needing a solid clean I would look at dry cleaning, but there's such a mix of fabrics I'd be reluctant to hand it off to someone else.
STUNNING
For aspiring patchwork housecoat quilters, the pattern I used is McCalls' M7875, which seems to be the go-to among my fellow hobbity-housecoat creators :)
❤❤❤
I'm a new quilter of only a few months. Not been able to do any for over a week now due to a nasty infection in both eyes, so watching lot's of tutorials instead. Came across you and watched this video. I would not make it myself, but found the whole video, intriguing, interesting and quite relaxing, and of course I have to subscribe to see you other work. Well done. Its gorgeous.. and WOW! Tiny scraps from a stage show 💞
I purchased this pattern. It is on my to do list this year.
You and this quilt are FABULOUS ❤
Very beautiful quilt. Murdoch fan too. Hoping to make one of these someday!!
Loved it, thanks
6:45. Men are just the same today. You can see it on the internet, they start throwing a fit everytime they see a woman being passionate and doing something she enjoys. Back in the day they published their misogyny on the newspapers, nowadays it's on the internet. They haven't changed at all.
This is how my 30s have been going-I’m still only at the beginning. Time to acquire all the medieval clothes and things i dreamed of as a child. I have a cloak. Time to make another
So beautiful! 😊
Ohhhh you got INSTRUCTIONS!!! I was just winging it after making my pattern from Keystone. Which was actually a lot of fun, though I did have to get creative to get enough room to draw the things, I ended up with a clamp holding my string to the kitchen table and the paper I was drafting it on draped over the rabbit crate )size L dog crate so comparable height to my table). Ok, going back to watch you to see how many ways I did mine wrong!
Heehee, fun. Your mom is all kids of awesome too. I've been tempted (even bought fabric) to make Mal's pretty floral bonnet...
I'm so glad you had the model for yours. Mine is a 1914 Jones vibrating shuttle model and almost as beautiful as yours (the side cover plate on mine is unadorned, ours is gorgeous), but it took me and my friend an entire evening of googling antique sewing machines to even figure out what it was, all we had to go on was the name "Victoria" (not helpful cause every sewing machine make ever made one called Victoria) and "made in England". But she figured it out and we dated it by serial number, and lo and behold the manual was available for free so I downloaded it and printed it out at quarter-size. And also I know whose family brought it to Canada, so I have that bit of history on it. I've also got a Minnesota A treadle machine from Sears and Roebuck but have not narrowed the precise date or even who actually made it, though from the research I've done it's definitely not older than my hand crank machine. I love using the hand crank so much more than any of my electric machines. I really need to get a band and some needles for the treadle machine and start using it too.
Did you have any problems with it cutting in at the front of the armpits? When I've taken a back lacing pattern meant to have a gap in the back and stitched the back up so it would be front-lacing, that was the issue I ran into as the whole thing rotated a bit towards the back. I'm still not at the "happy enough with a mockup to try it" stage with corsets and stays after the failure of my half-corset sports bra thing... being columnar in shape, short-waisted and having ribs that highly object to being compressed, it's a journey of discovery that I am doing only occasionally, when my "you must mend a thing and dig something out of the UFO pile and have another go before scissors touch fabric on a new project" rule comes into effect. I didn't know chickens could hop like that, very cute. And in the midst of "ohhh now I have kitchen envy" was a moment of, Wait, are you at IKEA??" :) Thanks for the giggle! Love the verasatility of that, but I'm going to start with a reversible vest, cause I at least know how to make that fit me now. Even if pockets will be a disaster.
My brother and I spent HOURS playing with our Simon. Till he eventually got curious about how it worked and took it apart. He's much better now about taking things apart such that they can be put successfully back together again, but that was not this... Thanks for showing the tribulations about your lining (and also making me google "silk Bemburg" and finding a Canadian supplier with prices that aren't completely obscene! Linings are a thing I struggle with cause I try to avoid polyester but it's hard to find thing slippery enough to make good linings, and having lined a coat with (bunny print) flannel once, yeah, you need slippery, I repurposed a satin pillowcase for the sleeves on that to save my sanity. Oh and thanks for showing yor closure method, thanks to my lack of understanding of things like ease and additional fabric requirements for buttons in 2021, the coat I made still doesn't have closures on it (been faking it with a belt) and I was thinking that this double button with fabric bar thing was going to be how I'd have to do it if I wasn't going to justify paying a ridiculous amount for a few toggle closures, so it's nice to have seen it done! Also if I do the double button thing, I never have to worry about which side I'm *supposed* to put buttons on cause being somewhat ambidextrous and a wearer of both "men's" and "women's" clothing, I can never remember and do not have preference. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who adds surprise collars. Is it just to hide lumpy neck facings or avoid them entirely, or in one case to hide a correction in an overly wide neck opening resulting from lack of understanding how to add ease in my case? I'll never tell... Though cloaks don't work so well in the car, I'm seriously contemplating making myself a snow capelet to keep my not waterproof but still warm enough even at 20 years old winter jacket a bit more dry when I'm shovelling snow for work and getting rained or sloppily snowed on. Trying to figure out how to incorporate parts of a high-vis vest into it so I remain visible to traffic (and my husband in the skidsteer). Also, capelets are awesome, and also good for hiding corrections to overly-large neck openings when one doesn't understand how to add ease :) That turned out so nice, I hope I have enough of my wool fabric I made my walking skirt out of to do a cape after I do the jacket!
