During rhe original wall tour eaters sacked wright wothout consukting the band and re hired him as a session musician. (Wright is on synth and keyboard). After their final album with waters they split. It took 4/5 years for them to actually use the oink floyd name again due to warers ego and suing them for the name. But as barret was dispatched from the original line uo in about 67/68 waters was told he had no rights to the name. So they stsrted recordong a momnetary lapse of reason which followed eoth delicate sound of thunder from the tour for said album. Pikse is on the back of the division bell album.

You got the point of the song but some of the best lines are “you fritter and waste the hours in an off hand way” “no one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun”, etc. the whole damn song is absolute genius, arguably the best song of all time.

My all-time favorite band is Pink Floyd. This song at this concert is especially special to me. I must recommend a newer favorite of mine: Polyphia. The most I'll tell you is that they are a contemporary instrumental (guitar) band. The first song I suggest you react to is "Ego Death" featuring the legendary Steve Vai. Think 9 minute guitar solo/trio that youll never get tired of. Second I'd recommend thier song "Playing God." Self explanatory.

I say this in every comment I make to new listeners to Pink floyd, the songs while they CAN be heard individually really are all component parts of one opus, each album is one song split up into different movements and tell a story from start to finish, I highly recommend you listen to the whole Wall album from start to finish in one sitting AND read the lyrics. the album this is taken from is a fictional journey through one mans struggle trying to cope with life from birth through his adolescence and becoming an international rock star, but suffering from a deep sense of insecurity propageted by his clingy mother and progressing deeper and deeper until he is psychotic and builds himself an alter ego - a mental wall around himself to keep nasty life out, each episode that befalls him being "just another brick in the wall" he builds around himself to cope with life ! comfortably numb being the point he cant take anymore and HE collapses minutes before the band go on stage at a giant gig, and a paramedic is called who gives him a "shot" - the pin prick to get him on his feet, he then regains composure and does the gig............but his alter ego (styled as a self imagined Nazi style dictator) buries poor Pink in his deep sub concious until he has a complete mental break down before reality resurfaces and his mental wall is shattered. as I said I recommend you listen to the WHOLE album in one sitting you wont regret it.

I was there with my daughter at this concert .. 200,000 watts of pure power .. approx. 90,000 ppl attending .. As a Pink Floyd fan for decades there is NO favourite person in the band to us " FLOYD'ians " The band IS Pink Floyd they are one .. they play as one .. PS. David Gilmour best singer by far ! That man is a god ..

They are one of the best bands ever. One of my favorite songs ever also. Music just isn’t the same anymore. It’s nice to see the younger generations appreciating “ real music”.

Hi, my Dadd has seen Pink Floyd 7 times in their prime. Back then concerts were like going to the symphony(certain bands). You sat and listened to the show...no cheerleader or choreography stuff. Also as the house lights went out at the start of concert everybody sparked up "spliffs" so all shared this stoned vibe everyone was sharing. The sound and lighting was state of the art. At various parts of the show the sound went into Quad for dramatic effect. The keyboard or guitar or voices as well as birds, trains would go around or side to side. It was a spectacle and a fully immersive experience. Back in the 60's and 70's Cannabis and psychedelics were the popular drugs and the music reflected this. "Echoes" was structured like a symphony with 4 parts. Glad you could enjoy and appreciate Pink Floyd and the where they could take thought feeling and emotion and the human experience. The “background guy” is Guy Pratt - no pun intended . Roger Waters was the Pink Floyd bassist so when he left they needed a bassist. They used Guy for the “delicate sound of thunder “ then on the “Pulse” tour. IIRC he is also credited on the Division Bell album.
