After watching your first video I decided to go for it and launch my channel @chasinglifeat50. I don’t have the video experience, the speaking experience, the camera experience, audio experience, script writing experience…..and the list goes on! Just starting and getting out there and trying I am learning so much. I have a long way to go but having fun learning. Keep up the great work Allen! I love the moments of humor you ad into your videos.
That's awesome! Just have fun with it like I'm trying to do. At the very least it's a fun hobby. There are many videos out there to help you if you have any technical questions and you're always welcome to ask me. Good luck!
Looked like an awesome event! And so true about wanting to be cinematic… I felt the same way. I’m starting to see little improvements each time, so I think for me it’s just trying to improve in one area each time I upload a video so that slowly but surely I get better and avoid burnout. And you’re right about wanting to copy other UA-camrs, you make me want to add funny bits to mine as well lol! But for real, you have made me consider how I’m “signing off” since you shine in keeping people engaged til the end because they want to see the funny bit! 🤩
@@LifeAsAllen nah, it was good, informative, funny and fast paced. That’s a good recipe right there lol. I bet your watch rate will be nice in this one!
Nice to meet another 60 plus creator. Your past work experience is evident in the quality of your work. I learn a lot from your videos about how to better cover jump cuts. Thanks for your help!
Same, wanting to make interesting cinematic videos held me back for some time. I am new to filming and find it harder than I had anticipated to be a one- man show with very limited time. To make interesting videos on my own with multiple angles as well as the editing process, it is more time consuming than I had originally thought. Therefore I have stuck with making simple videos so far, but hoping with time and practice it will become an easier and a more streamlined process, and the quality of my channel will improve. Loved the toilet scene, very unique and funny!
@@wabisabisylvie111 It certainly makes you appreciate those who make the cinematic videos a lot more. I don't think I have that much time in the day. Thanks for watching.
I do way more watching than doing :D But I think the 1 thing I do well, is I try to incorporate something new that I'm learning into my videos. The jury is out if it's effective 😬
Another creative video. I am always thinking of ideas. I find ideas everywhere. It could be a line in a movie I watch, a phrase I hear someone speak. I watch other creators work, mostly in different niches. I always think finding an idea is the largest part of the task. Once you have an idea you can start thinking f how you might go about making a video using that idea. It has to be a way and a style that is authentically me. Keep doing what you are doing Allen. Love watching what you create
As creative people we need, grow and thrive on seeing other’s artistic creations. It helps inspire us. My mother (God rest her soul) used to say, “We look at other artists and get inspired. Then we go and create. We don’t copy, but we make something (sometimes similar) that is an expression of ourselves.” Author Steven King said he would read other authors in the morning and then set to work in the afternoon. My comment… we feed into our soul with other artists work and then, hopefully inspired, we create our own expression in whatever medium we are working. Thanks for sharing. Love the visual images that accompany your videos.
Me too. I watched some videos a while back but lately UA-cam has sent me hideous dental commercials, or thyroid eye commercials...but no Allens. Caught a couple great videos this morning.
@ totally agree I don’t understand why lately I’m not getting videos notifications from my favourite people when though I have the bell notification on but instead I’m getting in between from those I’m not subscribed to
Hi Allen. Great Video. I have decided to pivot to my real passion of making inspirational shorts and doing longform outdoor content. I had set a goal to see how fast I could reach 1k subscribers and start making money. It turned out, for me, easier than I thought as I made some Gaming vids and travel vids with most of my subscribers and views coming from the Asian continent as that is where I am living at this time. But now that I am there and old career wants me to go back to work, I have decided growth and monetization wasn't my actual goal. As You and I have discussed before, it was to make content I actually love and am Passionate about. So, that will be the pivot, going back to my original focus on 'Grandpa, Why Did You Start a UA-cam Channel?'. To have fun, enjoy the creative process and document all of that for my Legacy. Love Your Content. Do What You Love and Enjoy the Journey. God Bless.
What do I do to become a better UA-camr?....well....nothing. I just keep posting my disasterpieces. I can't remember the last time I actually followed any advice on how to be a star. Success was when I posted my first video....The rest is icing on the cake.
awesome video! so creative! I think the first thing I really want to get across to my audience is my passion. your passion is inspiring and I want to share the same with my people, too. whoever they might be… 🧘🏽♂️⛷️

I love the cinematic video style and have integrated that into my new channel. There is so much that I've learned from other UA-camrs.

I was 66 years old when I started my UA-cam channel. One of the best decisions I've made for my own creativity and purpose. Blessings!

Fantastic!
That looks like a trip well worth taking.

@CounselorSue Thanks as always...I appreciate it.
This looked like a very cool event. For me I guess it's just doing a bit better with each video - one at a time.
That's probably the best way.
You have a good sense of humor! Not only that but your creativity is shining! Keep going
Thanks for the encouragement!
