Farmin' Ain't Easy
Canada
Приєднався 11 лип 2023
Farmin' might not be easy, but its exciting and fast paced with many adventures along the way! From the trials and tribulations to the thrills and the triumphs we vow to show the real life of a first generation family farm in Southern Alberta, Canada.
As a first-generation farmer, a millennial, and a person with progressive intent, David Benjamin will take you along on his journey of farming in the hay and forage side of agriculture. From soil health to the perfect piece of equipment for the job, the daily tasks to make things function on this farm will make for genuine entertainment for all ages. The wild ride of farming has so many stories to share, this channel will pay tribute to the influences that have been absorbed from others, while paying forward the opportunities to others.
There is no other industry outside of agriculture that I would be as proud to be a part of. Come along for a ride while we help contribute our little sliver to the world's food supply.

How Accurate is the Metering System on our New Horsch No Till Drill?
Back in the 70's, was custom haying. The field i was working in was pockmarked with holes i asked the rancher. He told me when the ground is wet he drives his cows over the hay field to make all the holes that hold the water. It was one of the nicest hay field i had ever worked. old timer aerator.
Always good to see what you guys do in the winter when the snow is on the ground. In Australia with no snow there is rarely a day where you have to abandon outside work for long periods due to weather.
David your channel is just a honest look at your farming. I’d like to see some of the other stuff you do too. 👍
Got stranded on a bin once, wind blew the ladder over. Good thing I had my cell with me or it would’ve been a long day up there. It’s a good idea to be tied off, just seems to rarely happen around here.
Keep em coming, film it all!
Cool. Super clear video from the cameras, better than my wired stuff. Could you have one as a mobile unit to leave on equipment overnight as security, or even mount in a truck as a dash cam.
Seriously dude, you did that without me. I could have brought the 9560RT over with all the bells and whistles and had a "burnout till your too scared and turned out" video. Slidin in to home my freind, great video
ha ha this is just AWSOME!!!!
I watched this video on a 4K OLED television and its absolutely beautiful. Very beautiful area you are farming in. I think it would look great if u do a similar 4K video in winter when everything is covered in snow.
Thank you for sharing your working life we us. Happy new year to you and the family mate..
Right on!
Good times!
I’m luvin the Christmas JCB theme. Merry Christmas to you & your family too 🎄
Thank you @hughmarcus1! Thank you for your support in 2024, and we wish you the best for you and your family in 2025. Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to you too and thank you for watching!
Drifting a tractor ain’t easy! Awesome 😂
Hahaha it was a new one for me too! Merry Christmas @goodfoodstuff!
See you got a chinook too. Been spinning wheels around here for awhile now. Had to sprinkle some gravel on the ice to give a guy some traction.
We not only got a chinook, but we recieved .25" of rain as well, it's pretty slick over this way! Thank you for your support of the channel @chatosh6831! Merry Christmas!
@ Merry Christmas to you and the crew as well. We had that about 10 days ago. Still dealing with it. Nothing like a rain on top of ice.
Thank You for delivering such a good content.

Is Kyle your brother? Where is he a fireman
Thank you for watching @longviewfarm226! No he isn't my brother by blood, but we are very close friends who get the opportunity to work together as a bonus.
Thank God for the Fastrac! It’s an amazing machine. Great video.
Thank you for watching, and glad you enjoyed it! Kyle was a big part of helping film this one. He did great!
Yep,watch them frickin elk. They make a mess fast. I can send you some if you don’t have enough. 🤣👍🍻
Yes that's for sure. Let's just hope the elk can stay up in the high country instead of coming down to the hills to visit us and yourself on farmlands.... haha
@ they are already here, we try to keep the run on them. Some hunters giving positive disciplinary action. 🤣👍🍻
Crazy, i guess it is the first official day of winter! Merry Christmas @chadtosh6831!
@@farminainteasy merry Christmas to you and the family as well. Enjoy your videos a lot 👍🍻

Thank you for the suggestion @petemutz5894! Thank you for watching our videos!
Hello Farmin' Ain't Easy: Looks like you've got money to burn and/or have some very cheap feed. Dumping the feed on the ground & allowing direct access to their feed, allowing them to piss & shit on it.
Hi @MCatSHF, no sorry we don't have money to burn. Typically in our area of the world cattle feed of all types will get rolled out, or placed on the ground through a bale processor or mixer wagon. We live in ranchland type of topography where the animals are able to roam and graze. Although we do try to grow crops on some of the decently shaped fields. Only enough feed gets put out for the herd, so it will be eaten up before they use it for bedding. In cold weather we will put out straw for thier bedding. Some farms will have concentrated feeding systems like bunks and stationary feeders but the animals are contained to more of a feedlot type system.
Is there a benefit to wrapping with green film compared to white?
No, it's the same premium 7-layer film from Agri-Novatex. This field was baled near the tail end of our season, so we were using up a few different colored rolls of film we had in stock. I believe it's also available in black, but we have never used it.
I'd say they seen you in the distance and decided to turn back....😂
Hahah yeah probably!
Great video, feed quality is essential for animal health ❤. I don't know if Tanco equipment is available in Canada, but a lot of farmers around here bought a BaleShear lately, it's a simple attachment that cuts the silage bale in half. You grab the bale cut it,the silage falls down and the film and the netwrap is held tight and you can drop it on a Plastik pile without leaving the loader🤩.
Thank you for watching @michaelhollmann8353. I believe we do have a Tanca dealer, I've seen a bale sheer like you've described on another farm. I would definitely like to try one in the future!
Great video. I wish I had a Fastrac to play with, You are always having to much fun operating it!😂
Thank you @jimholbay5148. I do enjoy running Fastracs, they perform well around our farm. Take care and thank you for watching!
FYI, have some silage bales that are 3 years old, opened one up today and it’s like I baled it yesterday, sweet smelling feed even after 3 years!👌
Wow that's fantastic @wilfharder3857. A good quality film is likely a great investment for long term storage as well. I love the smell!!! Haha
Silage smell, its like wine to the rich.
Hahahaha they can have their wine, as farmers we love our farm smells! Haha
You could make a fortune bottling and selling that silage smell.
I think your onto a good idea there @davidmcgennity!
Don’t forget to pick up the garbage. Lol. 8 bales worth of that would fill my tractor cab with plastic. Guess I’ll stick to twine. Couple little piles at the side of the cab when I’m done cutting and rolling out 10 bales a day. 🤣👍🍻. Nice looking feed.
We probably should have shown how we roll up the plastic. It rolls up into a small package, but probably a little bigger than straight twine.

Amazing.... The way you done the road in.. I'd say thats not your first rodeo....😂😂😂 Stay safe and God bless....💚🌾🙏
Thank you! We do live in a true 4-season climate and try to take the hurdles as best we can and with the equipment we have. Have a Merry Christmas, and thank you so much for your loyal watching and comments!
@farminainteasy your most welcome.. Merry Christmas to you and your family...👋🎁🎄🧑🎄❄️☃️ Stay safe and God bless....🌾💚🌾
That MetalPless snow plow with the hydraulic wings is certainly the ticket with clearing lots of snow. Snow doesn't stand a chance when it is mounted to a JCB Fastrac tractor.
It makes for quite a combination for sure!!!! We always ran rear 3pt hitch blades till we found this used setup for sale. It's a weapon against the snow! Thank you for watching our videos!
4 way lock up on a semi helps a lot. My buddy has that on his Fruitliner tandem.
Hahahaha "Fruitliner" hahahahaha 4 way lockers would be nice, unfortunately this truck on has 2. Still puts the power to the ground when its chained up though. Thank you for watching our videos!
This has to be a fake UA-cam account for marketing farm equipment. This guy is very young and to afford all brand new equipment is odd. He wouldn’t have enough credit to get a $1M+ bank loan. Maybe his wife’s family are millionaires, but if you’re that wealthy why get into farming? I inherited 4000 acres (340 year old family farm) and have bought an additional 22,000 through the years funded from my job outside of farming. I took over from my dad in 2000 after his death, he had old iron horse Deere’s that always broke down… they were just high hour tractors. It took years of farming, trading through used tractors and equipment + my outside career funding to buy the new Fendt tractors and equipment I have today and I bet I have 20-30 years age on this guy.
Hi @zfilmaker. Thank you for your comment, and you are encouraged to have your own opinion. Thank you for sharing your story. We believe that no two farms are the same. We started out with older equipment as well and have slowly made upgrades to the fleet over time. Our first tractor was, in fact a very inexpensive Kubota M95 FWA. We do not have outside investors or inherited money, but we do make sure to leverage efficiency in every task we do, and that we can afford. An example of this would be how we perform 95% of our farms "field tasks" with a single multi-purpose tractor, which is a JCB 4220 Fastrac. As you will see on the channel, we only own equipment that we can utilize as multi-purpose implements to provide the best value back to the farm. Whether you agree with our choices of equipment, we wish you the best with your farming operation, and thank you for sharing your story. We all share a unique passion for agriculture and global food supply and security. Take care.
@ Fair enough! I was going to guess your family owns a farm equipment dealership just cause you have loaner equipment and factory tours when your content had less than 800 views. The majority of manufacturers don’t pay attention to anyone with less than 30k views per video. If you only have one Fastrac and tele that’s understandable. I’m 13 Fendt’s at the moment, each one has a practical use and I can’t honestly imagine making hay with one tractor. I run a Claas triple mower on a 932, pull a bailer on a 724, rake with a 720 and ted with a 516. If I were constantly unhooking and hooking all that to one tractor I wouldn’t get anything done. Hats off to you on what you’re doing.
I just bought a 10’ power harrow for renovating hay fields so far I’m impressed. It was never used but 3 years old they made me an offer I couldn’t refuse 😅
That's awesome!!! Congratulations on the new implement @longviewfarm226! Watch for rocks!
Throwing chains is always better than having to wait for a tow truck.
Absolutely they do!!! Thank you for watching @the_jeb!
It's amazing how the scenery can change where you are . 😮🥶😊.... I see the Marshmello's are doing well in the big refrigerator...😂😂😂 Stay safe and God bless ...🙏💚💚
Thanks @elsalay, yes we sure live in a true 4-season climate! haha Those Marshmallows do pretty well in the cold, especially when fed to those cattle, their bellies love it too!
gotta love your parents

Thank you @lukeduke3001!

Thank you for watching our videos and the fantastic comment!!!
That is one of the best filmed and edited farming videos I’ve ever watched. I really hope more people come across your channel... it really deserves to grow. All the best
Thank you for such a genuine and positive comment @robmcwhirter4627! We will keep up making content for you to hopefully enjoy!
Great video! I love the Fastrac👍
Thank you for watching our videos, we love the Fastracs as well! Amazing tractors!
Chains are pretty easy to put on when you fold them in half and lay over 1 tire at a time. And those are triple lights. Like real easy.
Great suggestion on the installation! As you can tell, I personally don't have to chain up very often around this farm.
@farminainteasy wish I could say the same. I chain up lots. But that's Truck Life in Alberta
we have those screw in doodads in our tires, they provide terrific traction and aren't even noticeable in summer.
That's makes sense on the ice for sure!!! Thank you for watching our videos!
