where was your first camp site
I'm not a huge fan of sharing coordinates of secluded sites like this but I'll give you a hint. It is in the Donnell Pond public reserve land. I believe they have a map showing areas that can be camped at.
Im a newbie your vids give me confidence and tips. i'm going straight to boondocking, i got the french press idea on my own but the rest are on order or already have
@@stv111play I'm glad you find our videos helpful, thank you for the support! There are many other great products out there but we find these to be our most important.
I had that same problem on a brand new trailer and after 3 weeks of back and forth it was the harness under the trailer the gray tank was on top of the harness and grounded out the blue wire for the brake
@@brianbelliveau5551 it's frustrating how half hazard some of these new trailers a built!
Learned a lot, thanks
Thanks for the feedback! What did you value most?
@@larisonlifestyle Your overall production is excellent and quality number 1, what did it for me was the start was all about the coffee!! That made me watch to the end.
@@Nedreck11 haha thank you! Every day needs a good coffee start to kick it off!
I have this same model, the only thing that drives me nuts is the bathroom sink and the couch. The sink is a weird shape that has a flat bottom so you have to squeegee it out after using it in the morning. I also wish the foot rests on the couch would go a little higher. Other then that I've been have fun using it.
These are really high quality builds, I'm impressed with the creature comforts over my Grand Design.
Da Da DA DA DA DOO DA. Are you crapping your pants yet.
Not yet!
show it all!... love your videos.. i have watched every one of them.. nice to see what how life is going for you guys.. the good and the bad..... till next time .. take care
Thank you for being a dedicated superfan! We appreciate the support and feedback!

It's an incredible place isn't it!
My wife and I love Havasu. We camp down in Parker at Emerald Cove. It's Paradise. I would love to get a solar setup, but what I want is pretty expensive, LOL. I guess I have to wait a little longer I'm not getting any younger I'm 62. Enjoy your boondocking and your life. You're young, life goes by fast 👍🏻🇺🇲
Havasu is incredible down by Parker, what a great area. Check out BougeRV solar systems they're affordable and easy to install. Enjoy your travels!
@@larisonlifestyle I'll check them out thanks👍🏻🇺🇲
Hi, Can you tell me if there is a road that goes down to the lake area from the BLM staging area? How close to the lake can we get with a 26' RV? What I was wondering is if we could boondock above at the BLM area, put our boat in the water at the south ramp and drive it over to the NE side of the lake and park the boat there for the weekend and have access to it from the BLM area. Drive our truck as close to the water as we can get to access the boat?
Looking at OnX maps and Gaia it looks like there is an old road that goes down to the lake from the old air strip and ends at Coles Wash. I've not driven down to the water from the north end but I've wanted to try, I don't know what kind of shape it's in. There's also another road further east called Two Shoes Ranch rd. That ends at Humbug creek.
@@larisonlifestyle Thanks for the info!

I done that trailing my 150 no problem
They handle the trails really well stock but being outfitted right always helps.
Great campground
We had a good time here, I'm sure it's busy during the summertime.
I completely hate the French Press that I had to have. Its the coffee grounds are a nightmare, they go everywhere in the sink, takes a ton of water to rinse it out. Beter one, the pour through cup filter, on tap and ground come out in one spot, tiny rince andnits clean
The french press can be messy and get a few grinds in the coffee. We haven't tried the pour over method yet. Do you have to boil more water and get more grinds for a second cup?
a video watching you eat? geez
😂 we had to share our bland meal experience. If you haven't tried using a slow cooker on travel days it's a game changer when you arrive at your campsite.
You should try an aeropress!
I'll have to check it out. How long have you used yours? Do you have to boil water separately?
@@larisonlifestyle yes. Very similar order of operations to a French press but I prefer Americanos and the Aeropress gets pretty dark close to making espresso. I have had mine for years. They are also plastic and last. The only downsides I see are the disposable paper filters (but you can get a reusable metal one) and you can only really make 1 cup at a time (but they are quick to make).
Great presentation. Love the camper.
Thank you for the feedback! It sure is roomy for a truck bed camper
I like F150 content. There's plenty of Jeep content out there. That's not a bad thing, it's just that there isn't enough F150 content. Especially with the sort of regular F150 in this video. Thanks for doing this video, it's inspirational to us F150 owners.
@artvandelay1099, thanks for the feedback, I completely agree. A lot of people write off the F150 as a too big full size for off roading when in reality it's a very capable truck that can keep up with midsize rigs when outfitted properly. We have more content coming in the next few months off-roading in Baja Mexico with the F150. We link up with a group of OnX Offroad trail guides and the F150 is again the biggest rig out there but tackles the same trails in comfort.
Hey guys! We have relied on Ryan Hall Y’all on UA-cam for weather information. He is great! He usually is a few minutes ahead of the National Weather Service’s notification and alerts and he has a team of storm chasers out in the field in various areas working during the weather event. Check him out! I think you will like him and find his live events very helpful! @ryanhallyall
That is the most soundtrack ever. Video is gorgeous tho
I'm thinking next time if you were closer to the water, the dirt bikes would be behind the camper and it would block some of the noise. Dirt bike people are there to have fun too. Everyone has to play nice in the sandbox.
@Jasonrcsd, good point that would probably help. I'm all for everyone getting along and having a good time out there. But having a race muffler on a 2 stroke and ripping on the throttle non stop to get people to look at you while riding with your shirt off is on another level.
Its still dry. Lots of wild burros.
It's one of our favorite places to stay with the Burrows, hot air balloons and lake nearby. Seems like a lot less Boondocking area now days
Nothing like watching a poo dump before dinner eh!
Its the best! I hope you weren't eating when you watched this 🤣
@@larisonlifestyle actually was catching a snack. Put it down for a few minutes. LOL!
I am sure he would let you dump the tanks to take your mind off being hungry! LOL!
@toddramsay977, Lol she hasn't volunteered to dump the tanks yet!

Welcome to the channel! Having lots of plans can be a game changer rather than winging it. A lot less frustrations on those challenging days. 31ft can be a lot to handle for one person to park and maneuver. We added a Haloview Backup camera to the camper and it's helped me out when parking the camper by myself or needing to back up at a gas station.
Fun video! I’m thinking we were probably there shortly after you left. We arrived there on Feb 4th, and camped there that week.

Great video, I also would have the tall toilet lol. First thing I do in every rv. I'm thinking about a truck camper as a solo person. I want something I cam manage by myself. My bucket list is driving to Alaska as well. Not sure I want to do that by myself yet. Thank you for sharing.

That's my dream camper Arctic fox 990 truck camper
@scottnichols309, it's a sweet truck bed camper, very roomy!
Hey guys!! Wally and I were there in October! We stayed in that same parking lot/BLM campground and I told Wally I felt like we should make friends with the people in the parking lot! There were only a few others there when we were there. But we would have joined you at the fire pit, for sure! We loved the tour of the caves! Those are awesome! But, hey! We hiked down…what’s up with the elevator, guys??😂😂 Hope y’all are doing well! We will be doing the East Coast and New England this spring-fall, then heading to Baja for the winter. Y’all should join us down there!
@FoxPartyOf3, the large open lot made us feel like we had to meet our neighbors! The cave tour was awesome, if we weren't hung over and driving 4 hours that day we might have done the full hike 😂 That sounds like a great travel plan this year, maybe we'll see you out there!
How was the road up to the north campground? We were of the understanding that the campground is tent only and the hairpin turns are too sharp for trailers anyways. This video seemed to show otherwise. we'd like to tent but with our utility trailer behind the vehicle. Is the road rough with big rocks?
We took the Western route up Ashley Lake Rd to the North Campground. Even the host at the North campground told us not go to the other way. The western route is mostly easy going gravel, a little steep at one point but nothing too crazy. The campground has maybe 2-3 spots that can fit a trailer / camper. Ours is around 25ft with the generator rack and trailer tongue and we were pushing the limits to back into the upper camping spot. I wouldn't recommend a trailer over 20ft. I did meet someone that's lives along Ashley Lake Rd and they told us the big storms in 2022 washed out part of the road. I imagine by now that has been repaired. I think most locals that have houses and bring their boats up go the western route.
@@larisonlifestyle Thank you for your response! Very helpful! I will have to look into the other route
Go Navy! Best wishes for your sister. Military aviation can be so unforgiving.
Thank you for your support! Were/are you a military aviator?
@larisonlifestyle no--Surface Warfare: where failed and wannabe Aviators, SEALs, and Submariners go to serve. 🇺🇸
which cell service provider do you have? I'm planning a trip over there.
I have T-Mobile and Jacob has AT&T. Neither of us had cell service at Hickey Gap. We didn’t have Starlink at the time, so I’m not sure if that would pick up any reception with all the trees.
Thank you so much!
Beer
That's an important one! Should definitely be at the top of the list. lol
We're hoping to hit White Sands this year. Where exactly were those boondocking spots?
Awesome! It’s off to the right, directly before entering Oliver Lee State Park. You’ll probably see other rigs out there.
Love your list. I definitely need the Netgear. Do you have the inverter hooked up to the batteries? Did not expect that to be chosen since when boondocking, it steals battery power……but I know it is a definite. Works well with the Solar.
@danemmerich6775, thank you! Yes the inverter is hooked up to our house batteries to give us AC power when needed. Our solar helps keep the batteries charged up during the day and when needed we run the generator for AC, microwave, and topping the batteries off. Having a good battery bank is key.
I just started following your channel. I’m looking at the same grand design TT and have been concerned about my F150 pulling it how is your truck handling it ? Also I’m from the KC area also Lexington,Mo
@scottclark7836, welcome to the channel! Go Chiefs! The truck pulls the camper well but I have made a few upgrades to help. I have a full length (500lb capacity) add a leaf at the rear. I upgraded to a mishimoto transmission cooler for towing in the hills and mountains and recently upgraded my suspension. The suspension was more for off road but it's improved towing ride comfort quite a bit. I upgraded the brakes to power stop z36 kit with drilled and slotted rotors to help with brake fade and pad life. I highly suggest good type C,D or E Light Truck tires. I also drive in tow/haul mode and often drive in manual select shift to better improve fuel economy, ease down steep grades and help the transmission temp. Out of all the upgrades I have done I would recommend the mishimoto transmission cooler the most for towing. We struggled with high transmission temps when doing mountain passes and the bigger cooler made a big difference. I do have the 6 speed transmission. In general don't expect to get anywhere fast just take your time. You should check out my other channel @jacobsupgrades to see my technical installs and reviews on my F150 and the Grand Design.
Wearing sunglasses while videoing is considered rude.
Good to know, my apologies! It was pretty bright in White Sands.
Not too many people know of this and most don't care. It is one of thge things they tell you if you take a course in videoing or film making.@@larisonlifestyle
Thanks for the feedback! We will apply this when filming more adventures.
I've never heard this before, and personally don't care if people wear sunglasses. Especially in NM (where I live) because that sun is bright.
I live in NM, you need those sunglasses. It wasn't rude at all. @@larisonlifestyle
What a load of expensive crap that is unneeded when boondocking.
@kennethwers, different strokes for different folks. If your only boondocking for the fun of it on a weekend yes you probably don't need most of this. IF your working full time while on the road boondocking then most of this was needed for us.
Women typically complain about cost more than men. She did have other good points but the money cost is less than an AT&T hotspot device.
@ratgenerationx2946, the starlink nomad cost has gone up to $150 a month now. That's after purchasing the hardware that's over $700.
I live close to this place, I saw a sign that you need a permit and i'm not having good luck finding where I need to get one. Heard its like 20 bucks and its good for 14 days a year..... I paid 30$ for camping inside the Lake and it was full of flies from the burro poop.
@JeffSmith-it4tm, here is the application link. There is either an individual application or family application. It helps to print a copy out too incase a local officer asks to see your permit. I think you’re supposed to have it on display in the window of your rig. azland.my.salesforce-sites.com/recreationalpermit/
@@larisonlifestyle I have it. But I go too a more private place off Cowcreek road and camp for free. Get to see and hear lots of Burros.
@@JeffSmith-it4tm have you been to the old airstrip to the north? Lots of Burros out that way, amazing views of the lake at sunset.
@@larisonlifestyle Yes I go to the place off of cow Creek road, Went there 2 weeks ago and going tomorrow. Love it during the week because on the weekends the place is packed. I kick back and drink beer and watch and listen to the Burros.
Fun fact, per a Missouri DNR guy I know the Jacks Fork has the highest concentration of cotton mouths in that area of the state
@arthurbrumagem3844, that would make sense because the water clarity would make it much easier for them to fish. We've seen quite a few snakes while floating. We're always leery of floating under low hanging branches.
Go Chiefs!!
Let’s hope they can pull it off again this year!
I put a little shampoo in a bowl of water. Then I use a sponge to wet my scalp with the soapy water. I repeat with my rinse sponge and rinse water over the sink. It’s a way to freshen up between hair washings and showers without using more than a few cups of water.
@part-timephilosopherLol, that sounds like a great method for water conservation and hygiene. We'll have to try this out.
Great time for white sands
@noelliastarr5853, we love White Sands in the winter time!
Why? Why would you boondock near the border and risk your life when there are so many other better places just up north a little ways?
@WebDesignSocal, sometimes options are limited when traveling cross country along the southern route. We were still 75 miles from the border in this spot. We had no problems or bad encounters.
Appreciate the information because I was thinking we could just wing it but now second guessing that. We are first time RV'ers and yes I can see us not getting along well if things were confusing, difficult or scary. Safe travels.
You’ve got this! You’ll figure out a routine that will help with your travels. I prefer to wing it and Jacob is the planner. Honestly it has helped having a plan in place, especially with numerous boondocking locations as backup campsites because we’ve run into quite a few where the campsite didn’t work out. Let me know how we can help you with your plans!
Hmmmmm, you didn't include comments in this video as to whether or not you encountered any problems staying overnight in the area?
No problems fortunately! I don’t think I’d ever camp there again though to be honest!
