    As you swapped from aluminium to chrome on the button and base,what are your thoughts on using Alclad polished aluminium? It would be just as reflective as the chrome, but would have an aluminium shade.

    Hey there. I've been reviewing your laser gun videos as I am currently building a couple of them. Question for you. My kit only came with one tree of parts for the laser gun just like the one you showed in part 1 of this series and thus only 9 of those rectangular buttons. I notice here 28 minutes into the video you have a total of 18. Did yours come with another tree that included the others? Thanks

    • @ArcticModeler
      @ArcticModeler 3 місяці тому

      Hey there Oggie, great to hear from you, I hope all is well. The additional 9 buttons were on the clear polystyrene tree. You can see them in the full unboxing for the CommLock here: ua-cam.com/video/U-tj-BbK8Rs/v-deo.html. I imagine the idea was to allow a build option in which the clear buttons could be lit from behind with the appropriate colour. I didn't plan to do that so I just primed them all at the same time, as you observed at the 28:44 mark of this video. Take care and have fun!

    XF-21 Sky is a color that was used on the lowers of early war British warplanes to make them more inconspicuous in the sky, and it would appear the Klingons had the same idea there

    Crazy to think that phones do all this and so much more. So wanted one of these as a kid. I think we even made wood ones and painted them as best we could. Just had to guess the dimensions as no internet back then.

      It really is crazy how something that seemed so futuristic back in its day has been so far surpassed in a few decades. Thanks for sharing your memories.

    Hello, what are the 3 color codes that you used for the body of the commlock. Thanks in advance and thank you.

      Hi Mando, As you might have notice I do talk about the colour a bit at the 21 : 44 mark ua-cam.com/video/U-tj-BbK8Rs/v-deo.html but noticed I didn't mention the code for yellow! So here is the complete Tamiya acrylic summary over the Badger primer (Badger Stynylrez SNR-201 White Primer): Body Grey: XF-20 Flat Med Grey 2ml XF-2 Flat White 2ml XF-3 Flat Yellow 2 drops (1/10 ml) Dark Grey: XF-53 Neutral Grey 4ml XF-1 Flat Black 1ml XF-8 Flat Blue 1ml All the best.

    Loved the show, but when the moon left the Earth s orbit, wouldnt it eventually find another planet to orbit, or crash into another planet?

      Great question! There are a lot of technical challenges with the basic premise of the show, but, as you say, still loved it :)
