    Thanks for this. I do plan on building the 1:1000 model and this is the most comprehensive build I've seen. Well done.

    I never thought about it before, but yes. Star Trek was MY fist introduction to spaceships and will always be a favorite.
    I had most of the original AMT models

      Thanks for sharing Patrick! And for many it was even an introduction on small and, often times, black and white TVs! All the best.

    I started modelling about a month ago and I chose this kit for the same reasons as you. Watching your series of the TOS Enterprise gave me the confidence and so many ideas and inspiration to start my own. This hobby catched me from the first moment and I look forward to get better and enjoy many more models.

      Hi Bob, This is awesome to hear! It can be a challenging hobby at times, but working through problems when things go sideways and continually improving your skills are the most rewarding and enjoyable parts of the experience. I wish you many happy model builds!!
      Take care.

    Wow! It’s already been a year? After watching your series, I was inspired to build this same kit. I used some of your same techniques and I’m very pleased with the results. Keep up the good work, and I can’t wait for a new series! Oh, and your Space 1999 Eagle also inspired me to build one of those too! 👍🏻😁

      Hi Bryan, I know, it is shocking how the time goes!! I'm really glad to hear that both of the series helped inspire and even happier that you are pleased with the results. Such a fun hobby and being able to admire and enjoy the final product is the icing on the cake =D.
      Stay tuned for a couple brand new Star Trek builds coming soon!
      All the best.

    Fantastic work. As I am about to build an 1989 Ertl, with some enhancements (I had the kit before in 1973) I hope it will be half aa good as yours ;))

      Thank you so much for your kind comments! I hope your ship turns out great. That old amt ertl kit is a great size and a classic.
      All the best.

    The perfect Enterprise model. Even looking at Smithsonian pictures it took me a while to accept that this was the correct color. But then it dawned on me that the blue screens used in the special effects shots would have been reflecting blue light everywhere and changing the appearance, hence its more bluish white appearance on tv.

      Hey Ed, great to hear from you. I went through the exact same colour acceptance curve that you described! All the best.

    I would like to see you do a step by step build up of this model. Specifically addressing some of the issues with attaching the nacelles to the struts and how to get rid of the seams where the struts attach to the secondary hull.

    Very nicely done 👍! How did you mask the bridge for it’s main color?

    • @ArcticModeler
      @ArcticModeler  Рік тому

      Hi Henry. Thank you for taking the time to watch and to leave a comment.
      I'm guessing you mean the mask for the white dome top? If that is the case, I used a carefully cut 7mm circle from some high tack painter's tape. If you are interested, I talk a bit more about it in the comment reply here:

      Hope this helps.

    Very nice level of detail to duplicate the OG Enterprise filming model at small scale.

    That's a very beautiful model. May I ask what colors you used for weathering?

    • @ArcticModeler
      @ArcticModeler  Рік тому +1

      Hi Nathan, Thank you for appreciating her! The weathering colours for the "green algae", "space rust", "soot" and tan arc were all custom dry pastel mixes, so unfortunately I can't provide a paint number or formula. Take care.

    I don't understand why modelers put the blue strip on the foward portion of the neck. It wasn't there in the production. That's because it was there. But for production it was a problem for keying. So, it was removed.

    • @ArcticModeler
      @ArcticModeler  Рік тому

      Hi Peter, thank you for taking the time to comment. I know the blue on the leading edge of the dorsal was a leftover from the pilot colour and the blue screen background was a challenge.
      There is a great description near the end of the culttvman article here: culttvman.com/main/a-modelers-guide-to-painting-the-starship-enterprise-by-gary-kerr/
      Take care.
