The funny thing the first Sonic I saw was the Sonic cartoon that I cannot find anymore in youtube or in the internet. I remember Jet the Hawk was in it and I thought his name was Knuckles (I was like 3 or 4 years old and english is not my mother language). When I discovered UA-cam in 2006, it was full of bitter Sonic fans (I think was really disappointed at Sonic 6 and making fun of it) and plenty of Sonic OCs and fanarts were uploaded in Deviantart. I used to think that Sonic fans are furry fans who are always complaining about the game yet the community is still active in the shipping and content creation. And yes, I read those Sonichu comics and made me wonder what kind of horrors were lying deeper in the fandom. When the first Sonic movie trailer came out, everyone made fun of how ugly Sonic was and despite that, I am still interested whether it turns out good or bad (because I just watched Detective Pikachu and liked it). They finally changed Sonic's design (thank goodness) and I watched the first movie and enjoyed it. In fact, I was shocked how grounded the storytelling was and it gave a feel of Sonic being an alien who ended up in the human world and learned to live humans. Then Sonic 2 came with Knuckles and I love the choice of Idris Elba voicing him. I also knew Knuckles from the "Ugandan Knuckles" meme and the movie did a great job portraying him as an alien warrior who learned to live with humans. I also enjoyed Sonic and Tails friendship, which is more wholesome unlike the one portrayed in Sonichu. Then Sonic 3 came out and yes it is definitely better than the first 2 movie and the pacing was improved. I like that the move away from the humans character and more screentime on alien hybrids (Mobians). Shadow's backstory and character arc was wonderfully translated in 2 hour duration. It made me interested of the Sonic/Mobian lore and I am looking forward of that in the Sonic 4 movie with Metal Mario and Amy.

Gonna be real with you, the writing for King of the Monsters is so atrocious I consider it to be the worst Monsterverse movie from that alone. No kaiju can save that movie. Also, as someone who likes Godzilla more than Kong, I would put Kong Skull Island in A or B tier. The writing is much better.

HOW REVENGE OF THE FALLEN D TIER

I am a proud Alien: Resurrection defender, it’s so bad as an Alien film but if it were its own thing I’d have a fun time with it.

As someone who saw his Aliens for the first time 35 years ago (ugh jesus im old) when I was 10, the franchise has meant a lot to me over those years. I have tattoos on my body at this stage! But for me.. Alien - the original and best in terms of horror Aliens - The best in terms of sci/fi action and because it was my first intro to it is a rival for the top spot but just a different style of movie. Alien 3 - Disjointed follow up thanks to the studio but I still love it's bleakness Alien Resurrection - The start of the nose dive, they picked the wrong director for this imo. The look of the movie is off but did have some great scenes like the underwater bit. Prometheus - interesting and looked great with more dealings with the engineers. But they flip flopped too much on it being a prequel or not etc Alien: Covenant - The androids were the best along with the gore/violence. Otherwise average Alien: Romulus - a garbage cash in on a known franchise that has about 25% original/new content and 75% copy/paste from the other movies.. scenes/dialogues/action scenes the whole lot.

As far as I'm concerned there's only 2 Alien movies. The original and James Cameron's sequel. Everything else is an embarrassment, with Romulus being the worst offender.

To me, Sonics joking all the time reminds me of a trauma response, something that is quite normal when you lose someone important in your life. It’s a natural response to intense situations that can seem insensitive to others, and I love that inclusion in his character

I hope i dont insult too many godzilla fans by saying that i think the 1998 movie godzilla design was scariest and best to me and i really liked the movie. But i didnt have any previous experience or expectations from godzilla movie so that probably helped.

Romulus is very much in the same style as the first two, no doubt about it. I wasn't expecting that, but it was pretty good actually. My wife didn't appreciate it though. She felt like it was too much just rehashing the first two movies.

Rise of the beasts is a mid movie. Your giving that movie way too much credit. The development in this film isn’t given a properly fleshed out with no journey, it just happens. The action has no weight and the power dynamics makes no sense.

Nobody cares about Wade. The only humans the franchise needs is donut lord and pretzel lady, at most.

I partially agreed with everything you said in relation to the franchise until you got to Resurrection. It’s way better than Alien 3. And here’s my reasoning. There’s more going on in the actual movie than of that in Alien 3. It paces forward in a direction where there’s more action to be had and it flows well. Ok, poor character development and corny secondary characters and design of the abomination might be the let down. But the storyline about how technology from Weyland Yutani had advanced and an evolved Ripley hybrid clone, was a cool concept. It could’ve been executed better though.

The Knuckles show is the depiction of a timeline where the sonic cinematic universe didn’t listen to the fans AND previous lore. Wade wipple is the worst character in any mainstream sonic franchise and that’s to no fault of the actor. Adam Pally did a fantastic job with a character that’s embarrassingly written so there’s no hate directed towards him. The fact angel island didn’t come up even in a flashback speaks to the missed opportunity to deepen the audiences understanding and emotional investment into Knuckes’ character.

As someone, who enjoyed all 3 films and thinks positively about them - looking at them with a neutral eye, I'd say all 3 are not very good movies. Lame plots, many pointless characters, characters with lackluster motivations and quite some parts, which are simply hardcore cringe. Despite those movies working for adults, they really seem like aiming at rather little kids with how they portray all that stuff about loving family and ultimate friendship and all that stuff. Especially bad in the 3rd movie. And as not being a fan of the lore of Sonic, Shadow is nothing but cringe to me. It's basically the wet dream of any 12 year old. Always dark and moody, always edgy, putting coolness over everything, playing with guns and bikes just for the hell of it. A pointless character, being nothing but a crowd please. I never understood Shadow and why the masses love him, but oh well. From a financial standpoint, made perfect sense. So yeah, even though I think, those are very mediocre movies from a somewhat objective eye, doesn't mean they are bad. If you watch them without expecting much, you can certainly have a good time. And of course, as everybody and their mother rightfully point out, Jim Carrey is the GOAT and he easily carries 50% of the entire success of the franchise. He is a joy to watch in every single scene. I also think Knuckles is a great and unique source for comedy in the 2nd movie - sadly, he is cut quite short in the 3rd to make more space for Shadow. Certainly a decision, that doesn't work for me. I'd give those movies a combined score of 6/10. I am open for discussions.

Sonic 3 is the closest we’ll ever get to a live action Dragon Ball episode. The Super Sonic vs Super Shadow was scene was awesome.

I know every one has his own opinion but boy so many of these films are underrated and some of them overrated.

Yes Jim Carreys version of Dr Robotnik has an amazing and possible one of the best endings ever in sonic 3,it would be a shame if paramount was to ruin that and bring him back for the 4th film

Agree with almost all of this. ZSJL however.... Whilst it was much better than the Theatrical cut.... no one should need 4 hours to tell a cohesive story and make you care about certain characters. Scenes like the women singing after Aquaman left was just pointless.

so in the end, we started with the most scary sonic thingy in existence, and ended in one hell of a movie series, which the last one nearly got an 100% user review, thats how you listen to your fans

Covenant and Prometheus are trash. Every human character is an incompetent doofus and ultimately they all deserve to be eliminated. I can't stand movies that force characters to behave incoherently to hit its plot points. That's way worse than bad CGI. That's bad writing.
