I was a fundamental baptist for 4 years and a very, very common theme was catholic bashing. If I had a dollar for every missionary video I saw about American baptist missionaries going to some country to evangelize Catholics, I’d be rich. I was on the anti catholic train for awhile but overtime God worked on me to see the deception. At the time I looked at some of the godliest people knew were catholic. I started disagreeing and eventually got angry every time I heard it. I was raised Catholic and after 20 years of Protestantism I’m going back to the RC church. This is just one of dozens of reasons I left Protestantism.

I wasn't even thinking about reverting to Catholicism....It was the Blessed Virgin Mary who actually drew me to a church... honestly, it was like a magnet pulling me into the church and without even knowing what was happening, I found myself in a confessional room with a priest after 30+ years. I now have absolute faith that the Catholic Church is the actual Bride of Christ and by the Grace of God, may my roots go deep into it's foundations and may I never be lost again 🙏

On the book of Mathew JESUS says you are not to call anyone father but GOD, yet you ignore Jesus’s own warning and do it anyway. Who baptized Jesus? Was it John the Catholic or John the Baptist? You will not find the word Catholic in the Bible anywhere. Also, at the end of every Baptist service, the preacher will ask if anyone wants to come forward to be saved. You see, you MUST be saved to go to heaven. They do lot save souls in a Catholic Church. You also must be old enough to understand what it means and must want it to be saved. Sprinkling babies does not save them. Also, go look up in an old Webster dictionary, the word Baptize. It has one definition. To immerse UNDER water. So y’all need to read the real Bible. I forgot, the reason nobody is to have titles like Father or Rabbi or Bishop or Cardinal or Pope, is because nobody else is to be worshipped. Only GOD. You also pray through Mary. Mary has no way to get your message to GOD. You pray to GOD. That’s it. That man in the booth you call father, he cannot forgive you of your sins. Only GOD can do that. This is why so many who actually know the Bible believe that the catholic religion is a false religion, and those who try and preach it are the false profits the Bible warned us about.

Very unfortunately the catechizing of Catholics both young and old is bad. I went to Sunday school back in the 60’s. You had First Communion at 1st grade and Conformation at third grade. That was the end of my formal education. I knew the basics and practiced the Faith even though parents and sister didn’t. It touched me somehow. I believed but there wasn’t a lot of depth. During college I left until the last week and I had a what am I doing with my life moment and I asked Jesus to show me he was real. It took months but I started reading the New Testament, that I was given by a Jesus freak who was handing these out on campus. It ended up having a profound effect on me and I started studying the faith came back. Left a little bit came back again and now I’ve been back for many many years. It’s the best thing that ever happened to me. I love my faith. I love Jesus and I love the Catholic faith. Let’s pray that there is better catechizing of the parishioners. We could all use it.

Thank You brother for sharing your faith experience. God bless you. Sometimes I wonder if Protestants call themselves Christians when they have a numerous man made doctrine. They don't fulfill the commandments of Jesus but call themselves Christians. Jesus founded one Church but split them by protestants. And they believe that the Pillar and foundation of faith is the Bible. But the Bible says Church is the Pillar and foundation of faith. Don't they see this in scripture. Once saved always saved is another controversial doctrine. Sinners prayer, sola scriptura, sola fide and grace alone are man made doctrine. These doctrine can be refuted with the Bible itself. And how do they claim that they are Bible believing Church. For this reason I can't accept them as Christians. They have simplified their living style based on their doctrine. They have no priesthood and can't offer any sacrifices, they are hiding their sins by confession to God directly. Once saved always saved is the self comforted doctrine that is not taught by Jesus. Except Apostolic Church no other Churches can call themselves Christians.

Former evangelical here. I converted to Anglo-Catholicism because it made the most sense to me. But I have Orthodox leanings , especially the Septuagint as a Scripture lover.
