I am a former Mormon too, I also explored orthodoxy for a long time but the Orthodox claims just don't hold up against history, it would have been so much easier to become orthodox, my family and protestant inlaws hate the catholic church but don't mind the orthodox church. However I couldn't deny that the Catholic church was christs true church and so I became Catholic.
As a former anti-catholic evangelical, I was discerning which one should I choose whether the Roman Catholic Church or the Eastern Orthodox Church, but I chose the Roman Catholic Church over the Eastern Orthodoxy because she is the fullness of truth as the holy spirit leads me to.
@@DrewTheCatholicI just started investigating a few weeks ago, so many questions ! 😵💫 I feel I should look into early church fathers since I feel totally clueless about them sadly, any book recommendations?

Yooo! In the same boat! Was really looking at orthodoxy after having my name removed from the LDS roles but kept getting drawn into Catholicism. Welcome!
@@catherinemcdavid1533 You have to do some very specific things. You need to type of a letter asking for your name to be removed from the records of the Church. In the letter, you need to state that you understand that by doing this, your baptismal covenant is no longer valid and that should you choose to come back to the LDS Church that you will have to be rebaptized. I recommend stating that you understand the gravity of what you are requesting and that you DO NOT want to be interviewed to discuss it . . . that your decision is final. If you do not state this, they will try to interview you. Send one copy of the letter to your Bishop, another copy to your State President, and another copy to the Office of the President of the Church.
@@catherinemcdavid1533 no! If I had asked on my own, then there would have been road blocks, but a site called quit Mormon will do the work for you. I would share the link but UA-cam would remove it. But if you google search those words, the site should pop up. It’s ran by a lawyer who pro bono will send the letter to the headquarters. All you have to do is get the paper notarized.
"There's only one god of this world, and that's Satan." Well said! I've had a lot of wonderful moments with Christ meditating on that throughout my own conversion.
Another thing that is interesting to think about is that if there is an infinite past in time, time could never reach the present because an infinite amount of time would have to pass to reach the now. Therefore there has to be a beginning to time.
I was born in Salt Lake City. I'm a lifetime atheist of 56 years + 9 months in the womb. I am in, right now, a state I would call "baptism by desire" and am working toward becoming either Catholic or Orthodox. Thanks for posting this. Your thoughts are helpful. 👍
@journey... Primacy of Peter...or 'first among equals' One unified Church under Christ...or national churches under their respective Patriarchs From fragmented reality into unity...or into disunited oneness. God bless you and guide you on your journey.
@JourneytoIxtlan The effects of Baptism of desire occur in the precise moment prior to death when one has the supernatural faith together with perfect contrition; one can't be "in a state of Baptism of desire". Desires waver. As a catechist I saw many get cold feet and go back and forth, many ultimately leaving after months in the catechumenate. They certainly had a desire to become Catholic in some moments, but that doesn't make them "in a state of Baptism of desire"-- a state that doesn't exist. In addition, only God can know whether someone has received baptism of desire. Moreover, this person has not even committed to enter the true Church, but is rather weighing whether he or she wants to enter the true Church or a schismatic one.
As a cradle catholic, I enjoy listening to testimonials of converts. Makes me appreciate my catholic faith more with each journey story. Catholicism is definitely the FULLNESS of faith. God bless all converts, reverts and future converts. Bishop Sheen once said that in the future there will be only pagans and Catholics. It seems that he was prophetic in so many of his quotes. Right now in the world it seems the camps are forming up in those two groups. Pray hard for this world. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Mormonism has about 5% or less truth to it [just to pick a low number that is reasonable] in that they believe in God. Otherwise, there is nothing that remotely equates even alongside Protestantism.
There is an ought and we often fail to do the ought. Sanctifying grace gives us the ability to do the ought. There is a God. We owe God gratitude. Jesus is God and the Sacraments rule because Jesus established them for our benefit.
But evidently we need to tell everyone at every opportunity how wonderful we are, how amazing we are, and how we can do it all on our own with zero help from anyone else. Humility is a beautiful virtue, it is alright to admit we can't do everything on our own - that we need help from others: That we need help from God.
The Catholic Church is calling all of us LDS kids home my friend, are you brave enough to seek the church that Jesus Christ left on the earth? The church that He promised that the gates of hell would not prevail against? Be Brave and courageous.

Smart move leaving the LDS cult church

Im former LDS baptized Catholic this year. Gods truth shines
Praise God! Welcome home!
i also was raised mormon and had to make that pitstop in orthodoxy before finally landing on catholicism. the 2019 schism as a big part of that
Whoa, super similar to Darrell's story!
@@DrewTheCatholic its a pretty common theme! Isaac Hess tells the same story on Pints with Aquinas

I did a whole 360 Catholicism to Mormonism back to Catholicism. Had to leave to find out I was in the true church of Jesus Christ from the beginning
Great testimonial!!!
Off the cuff protestant prayers usually use the word "just" repeatedly

I'm afraid that's not how baptism of desire works...
@kaiserdamasus1978 is it? If someone becomes a catechumen and won't be baptized until the end in 4 years, he's toast if he dies?

By secularism, it's really a byproduct of the reformation.

Do you still upload these as podcasts to Apply Podcast and Spotify?
Yes, though very infrequently. I have a monthly bandwidth limit, so not every episode is available. But I will be uploading this one there soon.

In the RCc that you attend, is it NO or RLM?
TLM?
Darrell’s parish is NO if you’re asking. Mine is also. I’ve attended the TLM when I travel from time to time.
The parish I attend has NO and TLM. We attend the NO. It is very well done. Extremely reverent.
Traditional Latin Mass
I don't think a re-communion between Catholic and Orthodox is possible.
Hey, great prayer suggestion!! Really I think you might be inspired by God to get us all to start praying for this - thank you.

They do have a fundamentally different definition for a lot of key concepts

Couldn't you compare Mormonism with the Bible? It is clearly another gospel. It clearly has another Jesus who is the brother of Lucifer.
Sorry to hear that fell away from the true church. But it's never too late to repent friend
