Actually Star lighter was ok. Cheap but works like it should, mine brushed chrome is 4 yrs old but still works ok. The only thing you need is re-packing cotton fill to place the wick proper way. The flint holder and screw also could be better. Although it is OK. The "elite' versions of Star lighters are much better, but I lost it in the year 2013.
Dude, those actually look really nice. I'm with you on the inserts, but the cases are pretty good looking. For $3 each shipped that's a sore dick deal right there.
The thing that I like about star lighters is that They come in a large variety of designs and colours that are available a more affordable price the than Zippos
I have a 2007 star that i bought in 2008 from a junk store for next to nothing and i carried it daily for almost 6 years till i was gifted my first zippo and its still alive.. its hingse is loose and the click isnt satisfying but its durable as hell.. mine is brass under the chrome coating, wares down just like a zippo
Here in Germany, there are those "TOM" lighters (I guess they are made in China) to be found in some shops for 3 € each and they are also an exact copy of the legendary Zippo. All in all, they work fine, are far away from being flimsy and the overall quality/finish is pretty neat for such a low price. Also "MFH MilTec" makes exact copies, but these kinda suck regarding the quality. Anyway, they also work.
I‘ve recently ordered some of these and obviously those are not made out of brass. But there is one major downside, especially because you were speaking about engraving them. As soon as there is a little scratch, it‘s going to rust in less than 24 hours. Had a big dent because i threw one of my table and during this night, the rust hast started to even eat the finish on the case. So yeah, engraving them is a shitty idea, if you want to keep Them. So yeah, that was a little downfall to be honest.
@@ZippoFanatic77 Well, obviously the seller you ordered from is not the only one on Aliexpress selling those. Just based on the materials and the color of the writing on the inside where the packing is, mine seemed to be the same and they are probably all from the same factory I reckon. And galvanising aswell as protective coatings are just not worth my time for a dollar or two. But that were just my two cents, had the matte black version of those, maybe the metal under the coating was just cheap stuff, who knows.
Fun video and you are a funny guy. Good way to show it wasn't brass, the old magnet trick. Used it on lots of old cars that looked good but....were bondo/lead filler buckets. You can tell how old I am when I was still using lead to do repairs! I know these were gifts but maybe get one and fill it to see how it lights and burns. Sometimes in the cheap knockoffs the wicks burn out really fast and the flints just jam up. Again great video I hope your nephews enjoy their toys. Hello, the best ‘Zippo clones’ are the STARLIGHTERS USA, these STARs have the highest quality and also BRASS cases!😁 I have STARLIGHTERS USA with mother-of-pearl inlays, STARLIGHTERS USA with highly polished brass cases and also with gemstone inlays!😄
The cases on the rip-off Zippos are of pretty good quality. But every single "zorro" insert i have ever seen is shit. I mean they work and all, but none i have handled come with a full length wick, just about an inch long piece of one and once you take out the rayon to repack it you notice that and you'll also notice that the insert is full of glue and is held together by glue. Even the really fancy chimney capped versions.
Those 2 dollars clone Zippos could be considered cheap daily carriers that you would not care what happened to them after about a year the only thing that i would do to them apon receipt is to remove the peice of string that they call a wick that those lighters usually have and insert a proper Zippo wick
As much as I love Zippo and their history but in the last years the prices wen't up and the quality down. Bought my first Zippo in Sale for under 10 bucks when I was between 16 and 18 (felt pretty cool with my second hand leather jacket and the 125ccm bike) and I had it for years until I lost it last year. Now its 21€ on amazon and it doesn't close tight anymore after doing just a few tricks 😑
Is it a bit bigger? Sometimes having a good grip on my zippo is a bit annoying since it can get a slippery film on it for some reason. Though, rust can be a problem, but for such a cheap price it isn’t really something that is worth caring about though
Can you make a video or give me your opinion if you know, what do you think about flint from AliExpress? Not like original Zippo flint, does it matter what kind of flint I put? ❤ Edit: I bought the black matte one from AliExpress 1 year ago and it leaked so much and didnt fit well in the case. But it was 5$ so what can you excpect 😂
Hi buddy if I could get abit of Advice. I'm in the UK and want to buy a Zippo armour hi pol brass. I've seen them on Amazon for £35. But on the Zippo website they are £60 would the one from Amazon be legit it looks ok to me and all Zippo official branding on the page. But the price difference is bothering me lol.
I will buddy. Want that viking Zippo we were talking about 👍. Ps. Could you recommend or maybe a good video topic. How to look after a hi polish Finnish. Should I carry it in a pouch. Is there a brass polish that would work well. Or is it the case of buy one for use and one for show. Also looking forward to having a brass insert 😁👍👍

Hi Zippo Fanatic 77, I find that these lighters are excellent imitations, but I don't think they can compete, with the legendary quality of zippo. I have had some imitations of zippo, and the only imitation I really liked is zorro, but even if it's a great imitation, it has a click that I don't like. The click of the original zippo is unmatched, just like the roar of Harley Davidson, it is not comparable to other bikes, which certainly are beautiful, but they are not Harley. I think I suffer from severe zipmania.
Yeah man, you got that all right. That click is so hard to match, companies have been trying to do it for years. But because they use crap materials and cheap labor, they just can't match the quality standards and be cheap.
Bradford Mfg Co is gonna come after you if you keep throwing around their distinguished brand name while describing cheap Chinese knockoffs. Hahahahaha.
I stop letting people use my Zippo. Every once in awhile I would come across somebody who chose to show all the "cool" lighter tricks I already knew. Get my zippo back with bent hinges. Lid never shuts perfect again. Do that crap with $5 knock-offs not a expensive Zippo.
Hey man, do you have a video where you show ALL of your ZIPPO lighters? I'd love to see your whole collection at once. 👍🏼 Anyways, dope video as usual. 🔥🔥 -A ZIPPO l noob that just got his first one yesterday. 🤭🤣. Love it so far. Hi, do you still have the link for these products?
Does zippo ever use steel cases? I got a brass zippo and a magnet will stick to it. Did I get a fake?
