My Auto Dream
United States
Приєднався 19 чер 2009
My name is Brandon and my love for automobiles started at an early age and when I was 15 I bought my first car. I was raised in a Ford family. My grandfather sold Ford products for years. My Dad only drove Fords for this reason. I grew up with Broncos, Aerostars, Escorts, F Series trucks, to name a few. My love took flight with Ford Thunderbirds. I love all of them from 1955-1997 and 2000-2005. I owned a 1966 1/4 window hardtop and a 1993 LX with the digital instrumentation and JBL audio system. I really enjoyed the luxury my 93 Bird offered. In shop class in high school I got to drive a 1996 Town Car Cartier in Ivory Opalescent paint into the shop to replace a driver side wood grain panel for the window switches. That car was only a few years old at the time. Needless to say when I finally had the money to buy one for myself many years later I did so. I’ve owned several 80’s and 90s Town Cars and a few Mark series coupes. This channel will capture my love for all vehicles.

What are the exhaust mods of this car?
Thanks for the video. Been chasing a water leak on my '91 420SE with sun roof as well. Water is puddeling under the left front seat and I suspect the windshield to be the culprit. I will try your water can approach on different spots to see if I can narrow it down.
I had and *loved* a base '80 bought used. Terrific seats, feel of class and comfort.
Where did u get new unit from!?
This is my first car. 2005 Infiniti fx35 with 330000 miles on it lol
Did it need any kind of maintenance done to it? How has it held up? That’s a lot of miles. Pretty sweet. Congratulations on your first ride.
@@linkybird98 I had all my shocks replaced last year (had the car for 6 years at) control arms replaced, new tires. thats about it. The only thing that needs to be changed is the catylitic converter (to expensive for an AWD) and the front crossmember. Other than that the car is getting me from A to B lol. I will though look for another car. I kind of want to keep this one and completely strip it down to the from and rebuild everything new (project of mine in the future)
Was it a restoration? What was the cost. Beautiful car. The gold standard of American cars.
Thank you for your interest in the car. It truly was a beautiful car. I fixed many issues starting with the coolant crossover pipes. The original ones had many pin hole leaks. The alternator wasn’t charging the battery anymore. Replaced many vacuum lines around the engine bay. Had the fuel sending unit sent of to Tri-Star to be rebuilt since the digital readout continuously flashed. Also replaced the gas tank since the old one had rusted around the fuel sending unit. I couldn’t fill the tank up all the way or it would leak out. New heater core. It needed a new water pump, thermostat, coolant flush. and drive belts. While the water pump was off I replaced the timing gears and chain. Glad I did because the chain didn’t have much tension. New plugs and wires and distributor cap. The trip computer had no power going to it. I located a broken power wire in the engine wiring harness that took care of it. Replaced brake pads and rotors along with brake lines from the calipers to the hard lines. Bled the brake fluid until it was new clean fluid coming out. New power steering pump and lines. Other than that I put new hood struts on. You would think all of this cost me a fortune but I did all the work except for rebuilding the fuel sending unit. I sourced many parts from Rockauto.com. I don’t remember the exact figure out I think it was around $2,000.
How did you activate them??
There is a switch located on the steering column, pull it out and the hazards come on.
Keep right pls
my car clunks over potholes and it seems like I can feel every crack in the road, but it doesn't do this. Might you know what my issue is?
Have you been able to pinpoint the sound. Is it coming from the back? The strut tower bushings are prone to deteriorating over time, causing an awful clunking noise.
Nice car
Thank you!
Hopefully you found and fixed. But those sunroof drains rust at the metal and rubber line. So either the frond windshield is leaking or you have a rust hole at the sunroof drain. Remove that pillar trim and visors / roof trim and you will have access to the sunroof drains and see where the water is coming from
Thanks for the feedback. It turned out to be the seal that goes around the windshield. The buytle failed at the top driver side corner. A good friend of mine was able to apply a sealant to stop the leak.
Good heavens, stop that chime before recording.
Some like the sound of it and some don’t. Lol
Solid vehicle for sure. Aftermarket support is good it's a g35 on a SUV body.
It definitely handles like a car!
I have a s500 with a similar harness. The stater is engaging while the car is running. The oil light is on and the oil gauge stopped working. I thinking this could be the harness causing the issue?
That could be the issue. You might also consider that the starter solenoid is stuck causing the starter to remain engaged. The oil gauge and light could be a faulty oil pressure sensor.
Back piece is from an 89.
That’s right. I never got around to changing it back to the correct lenses and trim.
Had my 07 for 8 years now.. lovely car and easy to maintain ❤.. also fun to drive.. over 200,00 miles.
I love that you won’t always see one around every corner. When you spot another one out and about it’s cool.
I have one
Is it a Stars and Stripes?
How is the gas on these?
Average for tha year but not good for today standards but if u mostly drive highway it's not that bad I have a m35
Premium fuel is recommended. I always tried for 93 octane. Typically saw 14-16 city and 19-21 highway.
The 45 sounds way better
Dont worry, engine and trans are now rebuilt, about to go back in this week, then it will be buttoned up and back on the road
What year TC do you have?
its the 87 i bought from you haha@@linkybird98
I think full throttle is more brutal from stand still. At least that’s how it behaves on my 04 g35 coupe.
Lincoln needs to bring back cars like these. The 90s/early 00’s luxury cars had a feel to them you don’t get anymore these days.
Agreed! There is still a market for big luxo boats.
This was a very enjoyable video
Thank you!
What happened?
I waited 6 weeks before I got the fuel sending unit back. The unit was rebuilt.
Wow that is the exact same Lincoln that I had and year! But the bad thing about my Lincoln was every time when it rained I would get a lot of water in the trunk. So when rain was predicted I would cover the trunk up with a Big air mattress so no rain water gets into the trunk. Does your Lincoln have white leather seats? That’s what I had.
Is the trunk gasket in good shape? Yes this has white leather seats with blue piping.
Man my 2007 FX35 is SO FUN TO DRIVE. The handling is soooo good. I want to get sway bars.
Does it suck on gas like my m35 not super bad but could be better
I always got 16 city and 21 highway. Premium
I’m a big enough nerd that I loved every second of your video. Thank you.
Thank you! I appreciate that!
Did you ever try and park your Lincoln in between to cars and then backing it out with out your front end hitting the car next to you?
Thats never happened to me before. Thankfully!
I tried to change both lines and broke the power steering tank.
Did you get it fixed?
This have a cd player?
It didn’t come with one from the factory. I wish it did have. The JBL radio has a great sound output!
just bought 2005 awd with 136miles on it. hope i won’t regret
How is it so far?
Strasznie zajeżdżony egzemplarz. Silnik już chyba umarły
I have exactly the same problem my car mercedes w201. Finally, found the solution from where the water enters the console ???
The gears are lagging
How did you determine this?
this is normal when it's on drive when you drive it manual it shifts pretty fast.
Thank you for the great video. It helped me a lot :)
I’m glad it did! Thank you for watching!
Хоть бы маслу дал немного прогрется. Потом жалуются мотор хуета , ресурс маленький
Great car. Superb engine, transmission, design and overall quality.
Top speed ? Mine was 137
What Bluetooth system are you using? Sweet ride!! This has always been my favorite suv ever. I had a 2005 fx45 but had to let it go due to the gas consumption. Looking at buying a 35 sometime soon and hopefully I’ll be able to get my hands on one!!
The Bluetooth is just one that you plug into the 12v outlet. I’m not sure of the name. It crapped out not that long ago. How was acceleration in the FX45? I’ve never been in one. What was your favorite thing about the 45? When you get your 35 make sure to post a pic. Thanks for watching!
@@linkybird98 I used to have a white ‘04 FX45 until it got totaled in 2019. I loved it. I got it with 140k miles and put roughly 67k miles on it during the 5 years I owned it, so over 200k when it was totaled. It was my first car actually. Acceleration wise, the initial thrust is a lot stronger than the 35. The sound of the V8 was amazing, and for people that knew it was a 45 it was a great conversation starter cause not a lot of people know just how rare it is. And average fuel economy was 12.5, mostly city driving. I miss it, I tried to get another one but the nearest one was 800 miles away. So yeah, my favorite thing was hands down the looks I got. It was completely stock.
@@elitespeeds6278 that’s unfortunate. Hope nobody was hurt. Do you plan on getting another one?
Very detailled video. Thanks for sharing! What are the symptoms of a bad lower harness? Could it be related to the ASR light staying on and poor idle/shaking?
Thanks for subscribing and being able to take something from the video. 😁 The previous owner of this car hacked the lower wiring harness in a failed attempt to get it started. The wire that sends the signal from the ignition to the starter wasn’t even there. Also, it looked like they ran other wires that didn’t need to be there. I don’t believe this would trigger a ASR light or contribute to poor idle/shaking. That sounds more like the throttle bodies, vacuum leak, poor fuel delivery, maybe even spark plugs and wires or coils. What year Benz are you working on?
@@linkybird98 My pleasure! So you had to go over the previous owner's mess.😅 That's the worst scenario when working on old cars, but it's very satisfying when you finally get it right. 😁 Mine is a 09/91 600 SEL. I've just replaced the MAF wiring successfully, but after doing so the engine runs rough. It even stalled and didn't show any rpms, but after adjusting the fitment of the ECU boxes those problems are gone. The throttle bodies are working, that's one of the first things that I checked when I bought the car (it had a bad EGAS module). Upper harness was also replace some time ago. Vacuum leaks and coils I'll check thoroughly. Those intake rubber "elbows" that go into the ETAs like to crack a lot. Thanks for the insight.
@@E34Benzin Wow you have a early 600SEL! Mine was born on 4/92. My birth month as well. My throttle bodies have been rebuilt, the upper harness has been replaced by one of the previous owners. I believe there are some check valves on the driver side of the engine back by the fire wall they could cause some idle issues.
@@linkybird98 That's neat! I'm from 92 too, so my car is a bit older than me.haha The early '91 600s are the only ones to have the model badge in the glovebox, I don't know why they didn't continue with that feature. I'll check the whole car, but knowing the lower harness is not related helps me focus on other items. Sooner or later I'll end up replacing pretty much every worn out part.
@@E34Benzin Isn’t that interesting🤔😁! I was wondering when they stopped. I thought for sure before I purchased my car that it would have the badging on the glove box. How did you end up with yours? Do you have videos of it ?
You’re pushing it full throttle cold? Bad idea.
It's at operating temperature. XD The temp gauge is not supposed to be past the halfway mark.
@@XsaviXander No, thats the coolant temperature. The oil and transmission are not at operating temperature for at least 2x the amount of time.
@@chesterchen2684 Didn't know it took longer for the oil and transmission to get to operating temp. Thanks for letting me know.
@@XsaviXander no worries, you still have this beast, my friend?
I got one to a limo with a 5.0 v8 but it's overheating every drive do you got some sugestiens or idea's he got no Thermo no heater and the radiator is good but still overheating
Make sure the proper amount of coolant is in the system and that it’s been burped. A bad radiator cap can cause a overheating issue. A closed thermostat could cause overheating as well. A collapsed radiator hose might do it. There is also a metal crossover pipe that can develop pin holes and leak fluid causing a loss of pressure in the system. Some parts stores sell or rent a kit that will let you pressurize the cooling system for diagnosing purposes. That way you don’t have to run the engine and risk the chance of harming yourself due to hot coolant and steam.
@@linkybird98 yeah maybe a different radiotor, but everything else whe try already Thanks!
Thanks for the video! I thought the transmission wiring was part of the lower harness. Is the transmission one on its own?
Yes it is separate. Are you having issues with your V12?
I want 1 so bad o wait I have 1 😂😉
Happened to me. Thanks for the video!!!!! I didnt know what was going on, what was causing it. My car(lincoln) had exact same symptoms.
It was frightening at first, I thought it was a bad head gasket! I got lucky with that thermostat sticking closed. I’m glad you enjoyed the video, thank you for watching.
I love this car so much and wanna buy one so bad !
You should definitely get one!! You won’t be disappointed.
I’m actually selling mine, you should reach out if still looking for one
Yk I’m 15 and this is my dream car people think it’s weird but I love the v6 based from the 350z and the suvs look
It’s definitely a great dream car to have, it’s not weird at all. It would definitely put a smile on your face wherever you go.
It’s a great car I bought it because I could get it at a deal so I did and thought I’d just use it as a car to drive around in but now I actually like the car
I hate the electronic dash it is so fucking expensive if it goes out.
It’s not terrible to replace what doesn’t work. Luckily it’s all separate pieces so it’s not that bad to do. I’ve replaced the gas gauge and the message center before.
Number 2!
I love how well this video is done.
Thank you Bill! It was Nick’s idea! I shot it and edited it. I think it is one of my best.
