I picked one of these up about a year and a half ago. It had also been sitting for a while, about 5 years. Got it running pretty easily and I've been slowly working through the little things it needs here and there. It's a unique car and it's been quite the learning experience.
@@linkybird98 Same exact one, 1992 600SEL. Mine is blue inside and out though. Did all the fluids and filters first off, then the first major repair I had to do was the water pump, thermostat, intake manifold gaskets, valve cover gaskets, center PCV tube, upper timing cover gaskets, spark plugs and wires, distributor caps and rotors, and a couple miscellaneous hoses/seals. Also had to repair the gauge cluster and amplifier at some point. My lower engine harness has been ok, the upper one was already replaced at some point in the past, but the main body-mounted harness is getting to the point that it needs to be replaced. Pretty sure my evaporator is leaking too. PSE pump has been working great but the close-assist pump acts up pretty often. Reverse is slow to engage but it still works. It's pretty much had/has every common W140 problem, except the throttle bodies. They have been fine and the wiring inside them looks great. Still a lot to do on it, but it's running great and drives pretty well.
That’s a lot of time and love you’ve invested into your 600! I’m glad that you can make these repairs and keep it on the road. I’ll be taking a video of the rebuilt harness soon. I still need a battery and a new starter before it will run. I won’t run it for long since it needs all fluids flushed and then all of the unforeseen issues it will most likely have. Good job on your W140 and thanks for watching.
I have the same exact car, that does not look like a 110.000 miles car to me.it has very excessive wear at the seats and overall looks much more driven.very hard to keep it on the road but very rewarding piece of machinery.good luck with it.if you have time you may want to check my page dedicated to first gen 600SEL on fb. facebook.com/600SELV140V12/

What year do you have? What are some of the things you’ve accomplished?

Im looking to buy ine. Please help me out!!
I think interior is Palomino
I feel like that’s correct. My 89 560 SEL had palomino and it’s not as orange. I still love the color though!
