OMG I made a homemade one but I used thick plywood. LOL Where did you get this? Can't find one like it on Amazon.
Here it is (Snowsport 180 utility plow) shop.agricover.com/product/snowsport180?srsltid=AfmBOoo9PzbK2_i5HYjvLsfTK-T-JbSgVMyG2lDcCMVcNYv6G9DrfeVq
Really , complain about putting your child in a seat and touching the tire 😊 😂😂.
I’ll admit I shouldn’t have led with that one but still! Something you wouldn’t realize without owning it
your mpg part of the video was useless. just reset your trip when you fill up. then divide the miles you drove by how much gas you put in it. You can look in your manual to see the actual fuel tank capacity & figure your actual range instead of "estimating" 2 gallons left
I think my math was pretty clean lol. The range estimator is using average mpg to compute range, less the reserve. I discussed that it’s a 21 gallon tank, used the fuel remaining based on avg mpg and range, and implied a reserve. If it let the range go to 0 it would be the exact same thing. This is a constant conversation among GX550 owners - happy to do it with the trip computer but the results won’t be that different as the vast majority of my driving is city and doesn’t vary tank to tank.
@@NorthoftheWallGarage But you're still estimating the fuel left in the tank based on remaining range lol. The miles til empty is based on the last 10 minutes of driving normally with Toyota products. My way is completely accurate & not using "implied reserves"
So cool! I live in the South, because I can't deal with snow. However, this was so dang cool to see. Thanks for posting!
Appreciate you watching and for the kind words!!
Awesome we now have this model available! Just a note - The LX600 has 409hp, but the LX700h is 457hp (you mentioned 409hp at 03:20).
That’s right - good catch - thank you!!
12:56 id go with the 3rd row delete , 5 passenger one of the very very few models one can have a 3rd row delete
Would be a great spec and even better value!
I’m still having a hard time deciding between this and the 460. I just can’t justify the 550s price point
Nothing wrong with that. 460 is a great truck
Why the extra rustproofing? Are Toyota frames prone to rusting?
My area gets absolutely blasted with salt. Everything rusts that’s exposed to it. So if you plan on keeping a car/truck up here for any amount of time, rustproofing is a good preventative measure
@@NorthoftheWallGarage makes sense!
Yes. Toyota frames are prone to rusting.
Made quick work of that! :). Question, do you wish you had your 460 still? Or, is the 550 everything and more?
Thanks! Loved the 460, but honestly the 550 does everything better. That’s not a criticism of the 460 at all, merely recognition that the large increase in power and new features makes it well worth it for me. If I was going to add an older V8 model to the fleet I’d look for a 2013ish early Land Cruiser
@@NorthoftheWallGarage Thanks for replying. :). I really appreciate you taking the time. 😎
It’s an awesome price for the LX700h OT. Folks usually forget or don’t know that if a Lexus model starts with an “L” you’re getting all of the best equipment and the LX have always been full spec Land Cruisers. It’s been 30 years since we got triple lockers, anyone complaining about price for this thing is crazy. Big ass 2 row utilitarian suv is great, you want a family hauler get an Expedition or Suburban.
Yep I agree with you!!! Well said
Huge eye sore for a beautiful vehicle.
Lx dash layout has too many screens. Gx looks better too. Both have a very unreliable engine @ this point.. see tundra engine failures with same engine. Big gamble @ this point
Agreed. Lexus uses the two screens as a selling point but it really just looks out of date. I’d prefer them to use the GX screen or simply keep the 1 existing dash screen to make it look more timeless
I just bought the 2025 Land Cruiser 2 weeks ago and love it but have to say the overtrail in this color looks fantastic, best out of the two for sure. Happy you mentioned the hood flutter, seeing the same thing on the cruiser.
Congratulations! Land Cruiser is awesome. Hope you enjoy it!
Awesome truck! I wish I was more patient and waited for that to come out instead of buying a 4runner. Even though I do love it, I like the look of that better!
Nothing wrong with the 4Runner! All time classic. Enjoy!
Weird, in Australia the overtrail model has ceiling vents for the rear passengers
Wow - I wonder if this was a weird early production issue
Though to my knowledge, US bound 2025s have the same setup
No idea, I find there’s always small differences between countries, but yes ours definitely do have rear passenger A/C vents in the roof.. In the US i think you guys have like 5 or 6 different variants of the GX, we only have 3, Premium, Luxury, and Overtrail
LX 700 more 🔥 eeish
Triple locked with a 20 degree approach angle lol
Yeah, not a rock crawler but at least for my use, overall ground clearance is more important to me.
@ fair enough
No ekdss on the Lx
I like Lexus/Toyota trucks but the 2025 Nissan Armada is a cheaper option that's worth looking into.
I wish I could agree with you. Nissan used to be great, but right now I wouldn’t touch them with a ten foot pole. Would likely go American if I couldn’t get Lexus or Toyota.
If you're ok with saving trees go with FSport trim. If it's PIO, versus FIO (Factory Installed Options) you can tell your dealer to remove the Port Installed Options early on.
Not a bad call. LX600 F sport is ready for duty for the most part, just need big tires
Nope I tried to do that with my GX OT+ port installed overtrail roof rack, and they said they couldn't. Once the port installed options are on the shipping list, they can not separate it from the suv.
No KDSS....
True. Odd omission for what should be a top tier off roader
Honestly less than I was expecting. I was guessing $140k.
Many people question why an off-roader needs a third row, often because they don't have multiple children to transport daily or take on on/off-road trips during holidays. As EV adoption accelerates, ICE SUVs are becoming niche products. To capture the remaining market share, manufacturers should focus on meeting individual needs by offering a wide range of customizable options.
ICE is still an overwhelmingly large majority of the market (90%+). I agree though that if you’re spending $100k on a car, it should be able to be custom ordered with sensible options
The biggest gripe I see is the lx overtrail gets a fn 3 row and the gx over trail you don’t even get the option…..but people will tell you why would you want a 3 row for off roading I would kill for a gx over trail with 3 row looks like next year will have to go with a lux model gx
What you mentioned in con is the area that is my top concern for my feeling about GX 550.
I would get a Gx 550 overtrail looks better and if I’ll spend more money I would get the g class
Yes - have the GX550 overtrail plus. Love the G550 Benz but it’s double the price of the GX550 that I have and nearly $40k more than the LX here. A lot of coin
100% agree with the GX passages roof vents, even LC has them plus 2nd row climate control. Not acceptable for Lexus to cheap out.
And yet they refuse to give us EKDSS on this... typical corporate shit, they will sell this one for a few years and then release the "refresh" with the actual full LC spec...
Entirely possible and good call out. We are also 4 years into the life cycle of the LC300. Granted these tend to have a much longer life cycle than your typical SUV, so I doubt there will be a major overall in the next 5 years
I bought OT as a secondary car. Buy what you like. Like what you buy. Trade in for a van. That definitely is family car. Good luck!
I have 3 cars - I use the GX as a truck, the way it was intended! Happens to carry about family too. I’m not interested in a van and love the GX! Maybe an LX soon though 🥸
I’m planning to trade in my GX550 OT+ for a 700h within the next year or two. While I’m not someone who does serious off-roading, the LX with triple lockers is undeniably appealing.
I’m probably in the same boat. I think the LX in overtrail trim is a real halo SUV!
If you are not a serious off-roader, then why trade it in? You don't truly need a front locker if you are not hard-core off-roading. Look at the pros at Dissent off-road they go extreme offroading with an LC250 with no front locker.
Why their OT have 3 rows but not in Gx. This sucks! Wish they do in the Gx
I agree! Maybe they will change that in subsequent years
@ but now thinking back… I would have thought they’d do that to the 4Runner although it is very tight. The Gx at least still has a good amount of space with how they make the seats go down
2 rows ftw :)
Wish the Gx had these brake lights
If you can afford this truck. I wouldn’t complain about the mpg. If you want better mpg. Rx350H get about 33 mpg
MPG isn’t the issue by itself - it’s the range. Cost at the pump is what it is, but I’d just like to stop less frequently!
Does the roof rack make a lot of wind noise ?
Many owners think so. For me it’s the same as any other vehicle I’ve owned with a raised rack. I take it off when I’m not planning on using it for anything.
When I was on the Lexus lot I saw the LX…It’s internal packaging is really no functional different than the GX, so unfortunately it’s not really larger interior. Also, LX has real leather, which should have been available at the GX OT+ price point.
Yes, agreed. I think it’s very slightly larger, but not a significant change. For me it’s more so the ability to have a proper 3 row overtrail. I also agree the GX OT should have had leather!
@@NorthoftheWallGarage I don’t need a 3 row, so the OT trim makes sense for me. But the additional locker is a great upgrade; no wonder it was not available on the GX, with Toyota / Lexus keeping that feature exclusive to the LX top of the line TNGA-F platform .
Keep up the good content! Really enjoying your channel.
Thank you! Appreciate the kind words
Interesting how the OT version starts out as the least expensive trim.
Agreed. When I first received an “estimated invoice” from the dealer, OT was predicted as $125k. So I was glad to see it wasn’t as high.
I'm so tempted...
Likewise. Wish this was available as the LX600 and $10k cheaper!
@@NorthoftheWallGarage 115k wasn't expected. Still gonna be 120k+ "out the door." That said, still tempted. So much so I called my dealer... LOL! SMDH
Wonder what a rear end collision would look like on the 550? From what I can tell it would be catastrophic damage to the frame with this type of design.
All I care about is the safety of the occupants. IIRC this and the new LC250 did very well in crash testing
Lesson learned from the video: If you have children in car seats, get the GX Premium or Luxury. Leave the Overtrail trim for childless people :)
Haha - could be true for dog owners too! Who knows!
Sounds like his kid will grow up and reflect on how difficult it was to endure seeing tire scuff on clothes, no climate control in the backseat, and the woes of having a small fuel tank. What a life!
Yes, absolutely traumatizing
Nice video. The range comment is spot on. That size of a tank should give you at least 400 miles - but this one tops at around 320-330
Yes - definitely a bit of a head scratcher. They need to revise the reserve calc first. Aux tank still probably makes sense
The gas mileage is horrible dude. Plus premium? Yikes not sure how much of an upgrade this is over the V8
Power and drivability is a different league. I liked the V8 just fine, but it was really a dog - especially when the car was loaded up for roadtrips
ive had mine about 6 months or so - the only con I have is the first gear in eco mode.. its super super lazy - sport mode eliminates.. everything else is incredible.
Good tip!
My v8 genesis can go for 360-400 miles depending on the gas stations I get 25 mpg on a highway.
Aerodynamics and rolling resistance are much different on a genesis, no doubt
i have the 460 also, great truck but a dinosaur
i have this truck fuel tank sucks, the matte black wheels suck, never will come clean
231 MPG No way
Why would you buy an Overtrail when you had a family. Buy the premium or luxury and you wouldn’t have the problems. You didn’t mention all your off roading that you do.
Deal with deep snow and muddy land frequently here. Premium probably would have been fine. But the overtrail is awesome, so I bought it lol
Pretty sad that the landcruiser has rear vents and ac controls but gx overtrail does not, it makes zero sense... also, the tundra has a pano roof and rear seat climate control and a rear window that is powered for up/down. Why didn't they put all of this into the gx? It's supposed to be top of the line.. reason... cost cutting..
Yes agreed. A disappointing omission… but pano roof and rear climate are available.. just in different trims. Hard to explain that choice. Charge me $1k more for rear vents, I’d do it lol
Stupid vehicle. You just know that twin turbo v6 is gonna be a nightmare in 6-8 years.
