This is what this car needs, real feedback from an owner of the previous gen GX. Really looking forward to your feedback and comparisons, thank you for taking time out of your day to share with us!
Man oh man!! Come pick me up, I’m just outside of NYC! Congrats on the purchase. I think it looks amazing in that green. If you feel the need to sell it in 4 or 5 years let me know and I’ll come scoop it up! I hope you enjoy it
Thanks man!!! I think at this point unless they come out with a lx600 overtrail I’ll be holding on to this thing for quite a while! Come upstate for cars and coffee - the rochester and buffalo ones are pretty good!
Is the lumbar support a 4 way adjust? A lot of lumbar support pushes out on your back but doesn’t allow you to adjust where you want the support lower or higher.
Thanks for sharing! How does it handle on road? All the reviews so far are all about off road performance. Yes we know it can do off road but how does it handle on road compared to the 460? I have a 2013 GX 460 and have loved it but it is time to upgrade. Thanks!
Really well - acceleration, brakes, steering feel are all solid. Lifted a bit versus the 460 so it has more body roll (from what I can feel) but overall much better driving experience.
Nice man, congratulations. I am actually about to take delivery of an almost identical spec. And I placed a deposit in June as well. Nori Green Overtrail +. Although I actually wanted the black roof and black interior. Mine will have the chateau and won’t have the black roof. This is my first Lexus. I was surprised on a couple things. You can’t spec your vehicle exactly how you want it. Like Porsche. You sort of get to chose from the lot that’s arriving. Also, I’m wondering about the faux leather. People say they like it. We’ll see. Enjoy the GX! Can’t wait to get ours.
The faux leather is very high quality to me, much better than previous gen. Nori is beautiful paint too, so even though I have the black roof, the more Nori the better!
@@NorthoftheWallGarage that’s really great to hear! So yesterday I saw my first GX in person at my daughter’s school. Holy cow it’s so much better in person. I’ve watched about every video of them and nothing beats seeing it in the flesh. Really pumped for it.
Hi! Question 🙋♂️ there’s to much difference between the regular overtrail and the Premium overtrail? I need to go today to the dealership to put the deposit Im confused.. and algo if I get the regular version just the premium not the overtrail can I build it 🥲
Looking forward to same build. I have BMW M4 and X5 M60, and jeep rubicon. Going to dump X5 and jeep for one as it will fill the gap of both. Won’t go places like rubicon but close. Won’t go like M60 X5 but still nice. Enjoy
Could you talk a little more about the rear facing car seat experience? Installation/removal, Fit, how far up is the front seat, maneuvering baby, and ride comfort for baby etc
You know you have an adaptive suspension system on this ? It’s not just a regular suspension like you mentioned at all. And it’s surely doesn’t have the body roll that you mentioned: to fix that change the driving mode from Comfort to Sport or Sport + or so, it will stiffen the adaptive suspension !!
Good tip! When I said regular suspension, I meant not air suspension as they are conventional coils. I’ll mess with that and see if it affects roll.. normally that’s more of a swaybar thing but we will see!
Thanks! subscribed as I’m interested in this SUV and your approach on why you bought it is similar to my thought process. Moving from F150 potentially. Would love to get your review on the tech, especially the driver assist functionalities. Thanks!
Does the Overtrail/+ come standard with front & middle skid plates? A month or two ago, they were options on the Lexus configurator site (I forget how much they were additional - maybe $1000 combined for both) - but they have since removed them as an option. Curious if they just made them standard now.
Congrats! Great looking car. I’m considering the GX 550 vs Defender 110 S. Besides HP/torque, what would you say is the diff between the two in terms of drive quality (ie road noise, daily annoying niggles like moonroof/windows not working, etc.)
Sorry I missed this one! I think defender has a little more road manners, probably a bit more friendly around town. Since this is my daily, I wanted something I didn’t have to worry about and have been very happy with Lexus/toyota in the past versus my other cars. Having said that - defender did have some electronic idiosyncrasies that I haven’t had yet in the GX
Thanks for the video. As a previous 5th gen 4Runner owner and GX460 owner, how does the power compare? Hopefully it feels substantially better compared to both of those. The v8 was smooth, but down on power. The design is fantastic. I’m torn between this or the Land Cruiser hybrid.
Much much better than last gen. I can actually pass on the highway comfortably. The torque is fantastic. I chose the GX550 over the LC because I really didn't want a hybrid.
I’m interested in how you think the ride feels in terms of comfort. Does it ride rough like a truck or would recommend it to someone who wants something that won’t beat you up going down the road?
Great video, super excited to start seeing these on the road and would love to hear more thoughts from an owner's perspective. I have a super random request, but i'm considering one of these for my next car and was hoping to see one parked next to a Jeep Wrangler for a size comparison. I have a Jeep now and know it fits in my garage, and on paper so will this but I'm curious to see just how much bigger it actually is.
Will make a video about this! In short, I think the fit and finish is better, and have much more confidence about the powertrain long term. No hate for the defender though, it’s an awesome ride, but if I was going Land Rover I’d get a 2019-2020 diesel Range Rover
Probably the same honestly from a road noise perspective. The engine is quieter however and the defender had a really loud fan that would run after every drive - GX550 doesn’t do that.
Congrats! Love the car. I’m shopping around, why would I want to buy this over the next gen 4Runner or new sequioa? I love the look of this most, much more presence than the new bland range rovers
Could you provide more detail around having a sharper driving experience with more body roll? I would think that these two characteristics are mutually exclusive.......
You mentioned "ordering" your GX several times. How were you able to do this? I'm not aware of any dealers taking orders. As I'm sure everyone knows, Toyota/Lexus don't behave like other brands and I've not known them to do this. I've only been able to get on what are essentially interest lists.
You are correct - basically your "order" gets matched with whatever the factory builds. These vehicles don't have insane options lists so relatively easy to get a close match.
Thank you. I love the outside but a bit disappointed on the interior for that price point. I also have a deposit on the Overland+ as well as the new 4Runner. I am leaning 4Runner as I feel like the interior of the GX should be a bit more special than it is. I don't dislike it, but it feels like an interior for Toyota money rather than Lexus money, if that makes sense. Looking forward to more videos and your thoughts and opinions.

@@NorthoftheWallGarage I really wanted one of these when I first saw them but I know there is no way my wife is giving up her X7 for this with interior the way it is. She said it reminded her of her ML350 which is why I said 10 years old.

Bro you spent an arm and a leg just to get plain interior? “Oh it’s cause it utilitarian” lol… Idk brotha almost $100k for a vehicle just to not get any luxury items in the vehicle, I’ll pass
To each his own! Idk - has more luxury than anything else I've owned. Massaging seats, refrigerated console, mark levinson sound system, heads up display etc. Yes, could have bought a nicer interior with a Range Rover Sport, which starts above my fully optioned price for GX550... but 3 years down the road will be worth less with a bunch of problems. I made the right choice for what I needed.
This is a $70k car at best. Maybe $74k. But $84k not justified! Don’t mean to disrespect but reasons Toyota keeps raising prices at high intervals with newly designed vehicles is because of you folks that purchase and are gung-ho to purchase at these crazy prices. Let’s be honest. Lexus has always been the premium luxury brand at a more reasonable price compare to its European competitors.
