This channel will have a variety of tech topics that I find interesting including travel tech gear, networking, virtualization, Digital Forensics, Incident Response, Linux, etc.
My personal interest is on Digital Forensics and Incident Response using free and Open Source tools but the general information along the way would be useful to anyone interested in getting started in Linux, System Administration, Digital Forensics, or Incidence Response. We will be using Linux tools to perform forensics on Windows machines, Macs, Linux, Android phones, iOS devices, etc. We will also be using Windows tools to perform forensics as that's the majority of the market so I cant ignore that.
If you are a LEO (not the zodiac sign; you know who you are), feel free to reach out to me if there is anything I can help you with.

Will this work with tails os? Same thing with me it shows no wifi adaptor or drivers so I can't run tails os
It should although every time you reboot you will need to redownload and install the drivers unless you change your boot ISO
After enter the command to generate the make files , I get ...10 aclocal not found, autoheader not fouind etc. Any ideas?
Airalo has way better pricing
Airalo is a different service than GigSky. Airalo connects to local mobile networks so it will work great when you are on land (or at least close to land where your phone can reach the cell towers.). GigSky works both when you are on land AND at sea where there are no cell towers. It uses the Cellular At Sea satellite signals to transmit data.
Wonder if this would work on Carnival ships
Thanks bud
Thanks for watching!
How to use Password Reset in WinFE? Where is EULA agreement? Thanks
My wifi on laptop was working fine. After updating, no wifi. I am on Debian bookworm 12.8 and running the lspci command shows, kernel modules: iwlwifi. Running lshw command shows, command not found. Running inxi command shows, command not found. lsmod command shows iwlwifi is loaded. sudo modprobe iwlwifi does nothing.
hi, can caine read the connected flashdisk, because I will format the flashdisk for later imaging and cloning, thank you.
Ok, glad you found this useful
The router has its own WiFi signal?
yes! the router creates it's own WiFi network so that you can have devices like the WebCams connect to it.
Thanks! Good video. Why bluring public keys :D? They are meant to be public also if it's your VM then also I wouldn't bother bluring private key ;)
Haha, you are correct. I think i was just in the habit of blurring things out!
WELL DONE. An excellent and thorough presentation. I have a question for you. I have SEVERAL monthly trips on Celebrity planned from Tampa to New Orleans, Mexico and Grand Cayman on a supported ship. Am I able to turn GIGSKY off when in port and use my T-Mobile plan so as not to use GIGSKY minutes/bytes? You made this look simple and I am VERY IMPRESSED by your smooth delivery.
Thank you for your compliments! In regards to going on shore and using T-Mobile, yes you can just switch your phone back to your primary SIM when you have T-Mobile. Then once you get back on the ship and it has sailed out of cell range, you can switch back to your GigSky SIM. Have a great time on your cruises!
You mention that you would prepare a video to address the assumption that public ip is static. Is that video out or still on the pipeline?
That video is still in the works. Been distracted with other things. Thanks for asking, i will bump it up in priority
@BlueMonkey4n6 great stuff, thank you!
Good video. How much did you pay for these flights?
I believe a non-stop or one-stop roundtrip between Honolulu and Guam is about bit over USD$2,200. If you add the 5 stops from this video, the price goes up by USD$1,000 or so.
@@BlueMonkey4n6 sorry what I meant was how much did you pay? or did you use miles? if so how many miles was that for?
I paid cash for the tickets, think it was around $3k, special treat for myself
@@BlueMonkey4n6 cool.. I was checking prices and its coming to $3k too .don't mind spending for this Island hopper

can this methods to be using for fix some issues such undetected/unrecognized/corrupt microSD or flash card ? how to do that with Kali ? , , i have ready install Kali in my android tablet using termux
Corrupt media such as SD cards and Flash cards will probably need different process to determine the process. But i would start with fdisk or parted to look at the partition table to make sure that is mot corrupted. Once you determine the filesystem format then there are filesystem specific tools to determine if the volume is corrupted.
Hi I plan to try this eSIM in my coming MSC 7 days Bahamas cruise. Just a question here. When I am at sea I need to turn off airplane mode & my T-Mobile cellular plan and turn on Gigsky cellular plan to use? Am I correct? Thanks Update: 12/8/3024. Just came back from my NYC to Bahamas cruise. I honestly do not recommend to use GigSky. After I landed on Nassau and back to NYC my entire 2 to 3 days at sea has no data at all. I try to toggle whatever option it has no signal. So frustrated.
Correct, when you are at sea, make sure you turn off your t-mobile plan and turn on GigSky plan.
did you try it? gig sky on a cruise out at sea? was it good as ship internet?
@@klle3419 Yes, I did use the GigSky eSIM when I was out at sea, that's why I made the video to show how it works. The speed was around 2-3 Mbps which was around the same speed as the cruise WiFi in my experience. You can see the speed comparison starting at 3:20 of the video.
@I am using it at sea when I reply your message. It took a while to establish the data when it start. Once it’s on it works very well. However when I am at a new port then back on sea it’s takes while to establish the data … it’s kind of frustrating when I wait and wait. My understanding is you need to be a further away from sea in order to set to work. Again once it established the data it works very well. Update: no good no signal when I am at sea from Bahamas to NYC. I don’t know what’s wrong I did? Just frustrated. I got good signal when I am from NYC to Bahamas. Still is within 7 days plus I did not use up my 1GB data.
I hate Zorin OS 🤣 Only one that gives me problems
The good (and bad) thing about Linux is that there are many flavors you can choose from. Try something different 😉
@@BlueMonkey4n6 that is the really good about linux thank you! I'm new to linux but really like Debian and Q4OS. I am just fixing a friends old pc and really enjoy learning about linux. I just need to find the right linux to change him and Zorin just looks super nice. Thank you for the video and great explanation!
How do you get around the captive portal on the other devices though? Surely, once one device is connected then it’s going to detect a device is already connected
Thats the whole point of using the travel router. The router is the only one connected to the ships’ wifi so the router signs into the captive portal. Your phones, tablets, computers all connect to the router not the ship so they dont encounter the captive portal.
So the video of how to pass through a physical disk shows you how to pass through a USB device ... thumbs down dude! Rename the video to "how to pass through an external hard drive" - then it'd be accurate at least.
Great work!
Thank you!
This method seems to only repeat the cruise wifi, though. When you register your decive to the cruise, I would think it will record the Mac address. So don't you need to clone the Mac address in the travel router? And if it has a captive portal, how do you log in from the travel router?
We just came back from cruise, and this did help us save on wifi! Though, I did have to make additional config such as cloning the Mac address and disabling all the firewalls. So thank you!!
@ken62310 Glad you found the video useful. I am just curious which cruise line were you on? I wonder why you need to do MAC cloning and tweak the firewall.
@BlueMonkey4n6 We were on msc. Their wifi have a separate activation page where we have to use the msc app on the phone to activate it. Once activated, only that Mac address can access it. So we have to clone the Mac address. Additionally, in order to get on the wifi, they have a separate captive portal page that needs to sign in every time we move to a different AP. for some reason, the firewall won't let it pop up. So we have to disable it in the router.
@ken62310 Thanks for sharing the info on MSC with great detail!
G-403008
Thanks I think I it looks like when I ran "sudo modprobe wlwifi it worked." I think the powersave settings messed with the wifi stuff
Cool, thanks for the feedback, glad it worked for you
some Android phone has the ability to create hotspot out of existing Wifi, does that not work with cruise wifi?
Yes if your phone has the capability to create a wifi hotspot then you could use that phone as the router for all your other devices.
does this work on all distros of Linux.
Linux has so many flavors that there is no way that anything works on "all" distros. I am pretty confident that it will run on most Ubuntu and Fedora variants.
@@BlueMonkey4n6 so it should work if i am using Linux Mint. And what about bluetooth devices
FTK imager is no longer available. company shut it down, at least for now.

Hello! Can this recover any windows logs ( event viewer ) if the laptop was wiped 2 times?
no, this is not a recovery tool but just an imaging tool. depending on how the laptop was "wiped" you may be able to use other tools to recover files.
Nice tricks
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! Hope the video was useful.
On the lspci command I got nothing. I did tried to modprobe for the iwlwifi since I’m using an intel core, but still, nothing works…
so there were no wireless chips at all or literally nothing comes back when you run lspci? What hardware are you running on and what version of Linux OS?

which router is better? the mango one or this one ?
The Mango has VPN capability which some people prefer over the TP Link
can you use this router with the new gig sky wifi at sea plans available now as a brand new option on criises - instead of buying cruise wifi
The GigSky at sea plan gives you internet connection via cellular so this router wont help. See this video for more info on GigSky At Sea plan: Want Internet access on a cruise without buying a WiFi package? - try GigSky eSIMs ua-cam.com/video/76Kpk1q3fC0/v-deo.html
ah ok- i wanted to hook up a camera for my safety as a solo woman traveler - i always tell them no housekeeping at all please so i want to make sure no one enters the room so then its not possible to use the camera through gig sky i guess you’re saying . i have to buy ship wifi - which is ok - just curious
did you try to netflix with gig sky?
No since GigSky is bought with only so many gigabytes of data, streaming would burn through that pretty quick. I am pretty sure any streaming service would work.
Netflix will likely work but the best thing to do is download some netflix to a tablet or laptop before your trip, then you can enjoy on airplane or on cruise with no need of using data and no worries of buffering. That is what I do. Another option is to put some on a USB stick also and *maybe* you'll be able to play those on a cabin/hotel tv.
@@BlueMonkey4n6is watching videos on tube the same as steaming netflix ? in terms of eating through data
As a follow up to my previous post prior to my cruise, I am back home again and can now report on my experience with Gigsky on my cruise ship over a 20 day period, from Vancouver, through the Panama Canal, and back to Fort Lauderdale and about 7 different countries.... I can verify that Gigsky cellular at sea worked as described in this video and their information. I did my own speed test and showed about 4Mbps download and 300Kbps upload. A little slow to load some webpages, but fine for social media. My only issue was that I had to toggle Ship Wi-Fi on and off to use the onboard services such as statements, and tickets for various activities through the cruise ship app. My iPhone wanted to use Ship Wi-Fi for access to the internet, which of course I wasn't subscribed to. A simple Wi-Fi toggle off then allowed the Gigsky data connection to work. A bit of a pain but okay once you understand the issue. I haven't found a work around, but not really Gigsky issue as this would happen for any esim provider.
Thanks for the review!
Thank you.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Like, subscribe and everything, this saved my life, thought I was gonna go through the pain of going back to windows. Thanks a lot! The most useful and easy solution for this issue by far.
So glad you found this solution useful and easy (and saved your life)!
THANKSS! much appritiated i was able to access my ubuntu (which was not booting) through windows saving my time and energy very useful tool (FTK Imager) simple to use
So glad this was helpful!
Hi Blue Monkey, Have you heard any data points on this lately? I have the tp link 750 in hand and headed out with Princess tomorrow. Have you heard of any issues with the princess landing page and not being able to access internet through the router?
I have viewers comment that they have not been able to connect on certain ships. I wont be on a cruise myself for a while so i cannot confirm it. I was in a hotel last week and the hotel had a landing page and I was able to use my TO link 750 to connect via the landing page which required my hotel room number and other info.
I happened to have a different live Linux OS on hand, and your instructions worked perfectly for me to enable the administrator account on an old system which I then used to reset a different local user.
Glad it worked for you. Thanks for the feedback.
what command in RHEL would be equivalent to disktype
I had run disktype on Fedora systems before. Check out this webpage for download instructions.
As landing pages are used more often this is bound not to work. Just just can’t put in the login credentials from the device.
I'm sorry, but, Huh? Did not get the reason to be doing all this typing? Very complex, to do what?
Yes, a lot of typing but there are a LOT of options with mount that wasnt covered in this basic intro video. Mounting and unmounting is a fundamental part of disk management. especially if you want to control how a device is mounted like read-only versus read/write, mounting behavior like ext2 vs ext3, mounting as certain users with certain privileges, mounting networked devices like SMB or NFS, mounting partitions with an image, etc.
I think the ships Internet is actually getting better and better these days because they are starting to use Starlink.
Starlink is absolutely making the connection faster but then more people are streaming which sucks up the bandwidth.
