If you’re just starting out and want to learn, this is the perfect the camera :)

Really up to you. Do you feel the 17-50 is lacking in some regard? If not, then no. But if you often find yourself shooting wide open and needing more light for example, then yes. The 18-35 is also a little sharper to my eye and it has a smoother focus throw, that also doesn’t extend when zooming in. So, if any of these things are hindering you with the 17-50, then I think it is a good upgrade.

Thanks man!! Actually I do a lot when I’m shooting sports. I have a canon 70-200 that gets me close enough for most things. There are also a few shots in here. For example the final ice hockey scene. But most of the stuff I like to shoot wide. Gives the viewer more of a feeling of being close to the protagonist imo!

Thank you! The stabilizer is pretty decent, but I’m not sure anymore if I turned it off when I was operating on a gimbal. Apart from that it’s a great, versatile and very affordable lens with decent sharpness. The manual focus is a little finicky, though.

@@YannickGalaske Yannick that is very useful information as I am looking at the Sigma 17-50 F2.8 lens in Nikon F Mount. To use on the Sony A74 and Panasonic S5 Mark 2 and Panasonic S1H respectively. As all three cameras can do Super 35mm and full frame rolled into one

@@ZEROFilms_ jap, mega! Arri ist einfach was anderes. Gibt natürlich ein paar Umstellungen, die man in Kauf nehmen muss und leicht ist sie keineswegs, aber dafür lässt sie normale Dinge ohne extra Licht oder Ähnliches besser ausschauen als in Realität. Und da wir fast ausschließlich run and gun documentary Arbeit machen, kommt das uns schon zu gute. Manchmal würde ich mir allerdings doch Autofocus für Interviews wünschen 🥹

Thanks man! All Forest shots are with the Amira and the Contax Zeiss 28mm F2.8 with a Schneider HBM 1/4 Filter, and the Canon 70-200 F2.8 for a few close ups. The wide angle of the interview is with the BMPCC and the sigma 18-35 F1.8 and the close up with the Amira and the Contax Zeiss 50mm F1.4 and Schneider HBM 1/4.
