Just bought my Blackmagic pocket cinema 4k! This year is going to be the year I start down the path of becoming a filmmaker. I have much to learn, but watching this inspires me and fills me with passion.
Bis auf die Szene im Hausflur sieht es echt aus wie ein echter Film! Alle Achtung! Auch das das Material nicht zu scharf ist, finde ich gut, dadurch wirkt es nicht kommerziell.
Woah, nice directing! You know how to place the camera, every shot is really particular, and you've chose rightly the camera movements. I think you showed perfectly the potential of this beautiful camera. Good joob
Awesome man! Think you just sold me. Was looking for a video of this camera without slow motion and preferably with the pro mist filter. Looks awesome. Thanks!
It's so hard to find footage without slow motion nowadays, right!? Pro Mist Filter is great in studio and low light as it boosts the contrast quiet a bit. Next I wanna test it in sunlight. Appreciate your feedback. Thank you!
Thanks man! For me personally it really depends what camera you’re using. For the blackmagic I use 1/4 all the time. Never take it off, even for corporate shoots.
great test... loving my bmpcc4k... this test help me out quite a bit... i'm shooting some similar set ups over the next two nights.. so this really helped me out!
Shashank Choubey Thanks for watching man! As for your question: that’s a tough one as it really depends on what you’re shooting and what you’re using the camera for. If you compare the bmpcc4k to Sony cameras in roughly the same price segment like the A7iii or the A7riii, then the low light capacity might be a bit better, but the 4K shoots raw and the Sony only 8bit. So with the 4K you have a lot more data to work with, which imo gives you much more freedom in post. If you want the best image quality go with the 4K, but you will need to rig it out. If you want a light and convenient setup with still decent image quality and low light performance go with Sony.
This is amazing. I've always been into filmmaking and I'm making an investment into my first serious camera and I have my eye on this one. Your footage is brilliant and seriously shows the potential of this camera for visual storytelling rather than it just being able to record nice looking footage. You've given me great perspective on the use of this camera for filmmaking which is great because most other people I've watched so far just slap it on top of a gimbal and run around filming footage in slow motion which doesn't really give me an idea of how it can be used for storytelling so you've really helped a lot. Do you have any tips or advice on colour grading?
Thank you, Danny! Go for it. This camera changed so much for me in my filmmaking process. Especially coming from a mirrorless System before. Being able to shoot in raw, having to pull focus all by yourself, no ibis - that really encourages you to become creative and think about your process of working. Learned so much in the last year using this camera. And DaVinci resolve is a great software that comes with it. Go check out theqazman on UA-cam. He’s done some great tutorials on color grading!
Really comes down to what shot you need. In most cases and especially narrative work I think a shoulder rig is good enough. I very rarely use a gimbal this days!
Thank you for your reply. The gimbal takes a long time to set up. And considering that film era movies don't have image stabilization, it looks natural and Perfect!
Is the noise present in most scenes related to youtube compression or is it because the cam isnt really that good in low light since it has a relatively small sensor?
That’s Film grain I added it in post. The camera is pretty good in low light and I remember not having any noise issues when I shot this footage even though it was dark as hell and we only used the given lights. I just love using film grain haha to take off that digital look. Hope that helps!
@@YannickGalaske Hey! Im gonna be getting this cam in a week. So, I wanted to know what f stop you shot these scenes in because my lens can only go till f3.5? Will I be able to get noiseless low light footage or is the aperture not wide enough?
Very impressive work, did you go to a film school ? It looks really pro, that could be nice to see the bts if you did it :) . I have a question, you said that the lowest F you used was 1.5, do you think that a regular m43 lens at 1.5 could give the same image quality with a bmpcc4K with the same lighting condition ? ( for exemple a PanaLeica 25mm 1.4 at 1.5 ? )
Thanks for the flowers man 🙏🏻 No, I never went to film school. I appreciate seeing BTS of shoots as well! Most of my videos for UA-cam are improvised so I always forget to film BTS and it’s also a real hassle. But I’ll try to remember it for my next video ;) as to your question: my understanding is using a speed booster compared to not using one, only changes the depth of view because the crop is lower compared to the mft. So your image gets wider and you get a shallower depth of field, meaning more background blur separation. So the actual light you get at F1.8 for example stays the same for both. But what the speed booster actually does is boosting your aperture, so you get another stop of light (depends on the speedbooster). So in this case the F1.8 of the Sigma changes to a F1.2 and by that gives you more light and even more shallower depth of field.
Thanks man! Always depends what kind of shoot it is of course. But if it’s something improvised like this I’m shooting in 4K DCI so I have more material to tweak my framing by cropping in post.
It's funny man. Saw your comment on y short film yesterday and it meant alot. I'm looking on youtube today for some inspiration and certain shots to see if they are achievable with what I'm doing and then I realized after watching it's your video haha. Love it man great work! I've got some stuff on my next one I'll be doing with a beginning similar to this lol forgive me!
Lol haha! What a coincidence. Appreciate it man. Glad you got something out of it. And don’t worry about it haha. Interested in what you are coming up with next. Actually it’s been like one month ago or so where I realized that i haven’t seen you post in a while. Always enjoyed your videos man. I wanna shoot something narrative soon as well. Been far too long. And still so much to learn!
Shane Ramirez I used a simple rode videomicro and additionally for some scenes a zoom h1n recorder. You can dm me on IG and I’ll send you some pictures if you want.
@@YannickGalaske it's strange, because I have seen a lot of video with Pro mist 1/4 .night shots were too blurry with strong glowing effect. but in your shots I don't see strong glowing effect

wheres the point using a sunshade on a camera at night? and why isnt this informant switching the red fokus light off? its very dumb to do this if you are working "undercover" at night.
He is definitely not the smartest informant I agree. Theoretically though, a sunshade can also help preventing the lens from flares caused by city lights. But I doubt that was his thinking.
@@YannickGalaske hehe :D. well i just shoot party photos in clubs since 2011 and i prevent everything noticeable. i even use black tape to cover the white brand names on cameras. its also helpful to use mono black camera straps instead of a white fat glowing "canon 5D" or "Alpha 7" strap.
If not the BEST, one of the best samples of something shot on the bmpcc 4k!
