My advice for both professors and students of mathematics: Human-invented notions of mathematics are always founded on human subjective purposes, and thus they are human constructs and subjective, and have numerous flaws which can be exposed when tested in the real physical world outside human mind and its notional operations They are applicable to only human-created subjective reality, but when misunderstood , they can misguide all human population to an unconscious self-destruction as currently seen in all human development. Human-invented notions of mathematics can be useful to human development only when they are aligned with the real physical world to be able to represent physical forms of matter, but not human subjective understanding as abstract maths and pure maths. Ex: positive quantities and negative quantities, irrational quantities never exist anywhere in the real physical universe, 0 is not any quantity to be seen as a number, infinity is the largest and infinite or limitless without any beginning nor any end, and the only one form of matter can be infinity is the infinite space of the universe, and all other forms of matter have to be finite in order to exist in the universe, and thus there can be only 1 infinity, but there can never be 2 infinities, which are positive infinity and negative, as how human-invented notion of infinity is always misused in human-invented notion of co-ordinate planes, and infinity can never ever also represent so many different extremely large quantities beyond human extremely limited knowledge, but smaller than itself, such as any quantities greater than 10^31, especially in calculus, as ignorantly claimed by all human mathematicians and physicists

The best books on mathematics are the philosophy of mathematics. "Die Grundlagen der Arithmetik" by Gottlob Frege is a must. And it is not strange that someone who likes math also likes to read. Frege is a fine example of philosophers and mathematicians like Descartes and Lebnitz, as well as many other contemporary philosophers like Saul Kripke, Villard van Orman Quine and Hilary Putnam, as many others, just to mention some of the great geniuses. Frege is actually acknowledged like first "analytic philospher", by Michael Dummett, another briliant logician and philospher and wykeham professor of logic at the Oxford, Frege made "a lunguistic turn in Die Grundlagen" in philsophy as Dummett said. I recommend this book to everyone, especially to students of mathematics and philosophy, they definitely have it in their mandatory literature. In it, Frege is actually interested in the philosophy of language, and in a brilliant way he analyzes philosophical, logical and mathematical problems by applying the logical analysis of language. Also, Dummett's books "Truth and Other Enigmas" and "Frege: Philosophy of Language". Oxford has great philosophers. One more recommendation, now it comes to my mind, one of the greatest late Derek Parfit "Reasons and Persons" and "On What Matters," as well as Colin McGinn's "The Mysterious Flame: Conscious Minds in the Material World" and David Chalmers' "The Conscious Mind" and "The Character of Consciousness," life-changing books that address perhaps the greatest mystery of our lives, our personal identities and one of the most difficult problems in the history of philosophy, the so-called mind-body problem.

Hello Ioana, thanks for your recommendations, the books are very interesting, specially (for me) those on real analysis and complex variable. If you have interest in Algebra (and particularly Linear Algebra) i would recommend you the book "Introduction to Algebra" by Kostrikin. It has a nice and intuitive approach to the linear algebra, in particular to the determinants theory.
