The line is the original Bethania to Beaudesert Line. The retirement village is called Palm Lake Retirement Village. The small rail cart you saw is a disused section car pulling 3 small flat bed wagons. It is non functional and hasn’t worked in years. There are plans to eventually build a rail trail from Bethania to Logan Village.

It’s also a highly invasive weed. Awful to deal with as if any part of them hits the ground it will reshoot.

Noticed the trig station on a work visit last week, it has blown over into the fence Some info about the summit site - the land is privately owned and leased out. The larger building is managed (and was likely commissioned and owned by) Simoco Wireless Solutions. It mostly houses commercial customers' equipment and (pretty sure) BDARS repeater. Very similar arrangement to the Simoco site on Coot-Tha. The smaller building houses EMS - I don't know who owns or maintains it.

We rode this trail a couple of months ago, a sunny day but cold in the shade and tunnel. We left from Mooball where we hired e-bikes from Northern Rivers Bike hire as they were much cheaper than the bike hire places in Murwillumbah. Had a leisurely ride to Murwillimbah where we had lunch, then rode back stopping at Hosanna for a cold drink.

Unfortunately, it's looking like Byron Shire won't complete its section.

There’s a company based here in ipswich that will take you and your bike up to yarraman in a small bus. Think it’s a great service. I have recently started to get back into cycling after 20+ years of not being on a pushy and riding the Bvrt is on my bucket list.

On Alltrails, there's a marked track labelled "Black Canyon Track" the turn off is just up from from Lightning Falls. I'm curious as to why no-one seems to use that short off branch track and go the hard way bush bashing down the mountain. I wonder if it's an abseil section added to it or maybe a new addition that's been overlooked?

What happen to all the rainforest? Was it cleared or the bushfires burn it down? I remember hiking there years ago and it was a lot of rainforest.

Mt Coot tha is probably my favorite spot.

1:19, yea I mean. Basically a stinging nettle. Same plant family too. I'm kinda immune to stinging nettle, doesn't hurt me that much, especially after repeating touching and any swelling goes away in a hour (other people are complaining for days, lol). I wonder.. I might have to touch this plant some day to see.

I want to do the stretcher track as well I did the Stinson Plane Wreck hike about 11 years ago. Would of been good to do the stretcher track after the army cleared for the anniversary . Did you do the stretcher track?

Thats my daily commute Jindalee to west end, Occasionally when I was younger taking a detour on the way to work up mt Coot Tha for fun.

Interesting to see how it's done on the south side, had a good chuckle! The Moreton Bay Rail Cycleway is worth a look if you need a relaxing ride to decompress after your Springwood bikeway adventure!

Cool Ride mate, I did most of this on an E-Scooter a few years ago, I ended it at the Toowong Bus Depot, I thought the rails on the centenary Bridge were a bit low, But a great Ride for sure.
