    Your Jotul ( pron. Yer-tul) is a multi-fuel burner i.e. wood & solid fuel, as it has a grate to allow air to enter from beneath the the solid fuel. Dedicated wood burners such as the Jotul No 3, have no grate, only a flat base, as wood burns best on a bed of it's own ashes, with the air supplied only from above, albeit in an airwash design. If you do use any solid fuel, you should know that it virtually always contains a small % of Pet-coke (for ease of lighting,) derived from petro-chemicals. This certainly causes crazing of the glass such as you have experienced here, but it is almost impossible to source solid fuel without it as an ingredient. I now have Morso, as Scandinavian cast iron stoves are often regarded as the best, by many users. Thanks for posting.

    I had an RZR… 2008 2009. I believe, I beat the living snot out of that thing for two years and other friends following me told me I was burning oil…. So I traded it in and bought a Honda…. come to find out later on the man who bought the RZR, the engine blew up!.. the man who bought it was a pretty competent mechanic however,Weiseco sent him the wrong pistons, and it blew up again! not really surprised. .. no more side-by-sides for me .. too big and heavy, currently a 2024 Polaris sportsman 570 Hunt edition… so far great machine.😊

    No one seriously using a wood stove for major heating places it in a cellar . Wood stoves are for heating areas where you spend time; local heat. Sure "heat rises", but.... In a cellar most of the BTUs pass out the foundation into dirt. In over 12 years with the Oslo ( and another stove in another part of the home ) we never used the front door since the ashes pile up and fall out when loading. Experience.

    Great stove? Some people let the ash pan build up and just shovel out the ash. This also helps extend the burn times. The new V3 Oslo has a cat and there has been some reported problems.

      The ash pan door seal needs to be changed. It’s regular maintenance only cost about five bucks. The ash pan is one of the best parts of the stove. In my opinion. I know some people do this and I’ve heard they even make a version without the ash pan now. It is not something that makes any difference to me in Burn times because I change the seal

Even when thats not being done. Those sparks dont travel more than 15 inches from the open door. The wood is 7 or 8 feet from the door. Either way. Caution isnt a bad thing. Awesome video on your amazing stove. Seeing that you heat your whole house with wood, do you think a catalytic stove would've saved you on the amount of wood used? My understanding is that catalytic stoves have extremely slow burn times of up to 30 hours. Thanks for sharing. I just got the Oslo 500V last fall. Overall I am happy with it, but I found if I let the coals build up too much (which are nice to have to get the fire quickly going in the morning), the stove different get as hot. I feel like I am turning it into😮 a smaller stove by reducing the exposed burn area of the metal sides and back. I'm really puzzled by the ash pan. I just don't use it and let it stay full of ash. When I emptied it once, a bunch of ash from above feel into the void and I could not put the pan back in. So I had to vacuum it out. No problem that day since the ash was cold, but if it was hot ash it would have been a real problem since I don't want to be vacuuming hot ah or buying a special vacuum. I to like smaller pieces as they are easier to place. I did cut a bunch of my wood at 12" so I could put them in NS. That just seems so much easier than using the side door.

      I've had the F500 v3 since Aug 2020, what I've found to work well is after the overnight burn, I use a flat shovel to move the ash/embers around so whatever falls through the grate goes into the ash pan. There has always been big enough embers that stay up in the stove to do a restart without "relighting." I usually crack open a window to allow a better draft until the flue heats up. I then empty the pan every morning prior to reloading with wood. I dump it outside in a metal pail so the turn around time is pretty quick, than empty the pail when that gets full. If I'm primarily burning Ash wood everyday is almost necessary, other well seasoned hardwoods you can go two days, "usually" between pan dumps. Just for the few moments that I have the pan out, not enough falls below to prevent the pan from going all the way in so the door can close. Doing this, I hardly ever have to clean under where the ash pan goes.

    • @AlfonsLC
      @AlfonsLC 4 місяці тому

      The stove is a bit picky and when the coals get too high. You have to open all the air up and they pile up. Also. Its a good idea to clean out the air inlet holes and passage a few times a year. Or the stove is so air tight it may put the coals out and you will have a stove full. Keeping those holes open and clean is important for function. Also. You need to empty the ask pan more is all it means. And only after you raked the coals to let all the ash drop. I empty mine every other day during lots of burning. It’s been way too long since I’ve made videos. But I do have the third video in the works likely to be released in the fall. And i will cover these topics

    Jotul has been a complete disappointment to us in refusing to service our wood stove, that has an oxygen intake issue since it was installed by their distributor. They were very enthusiastic about taking our money(and much of it;) yet they've failed miserably to back their claims & promises, in refusing to service or to even attempt to investigate & determine what the problem is. The're are surely reliable company's out there & products , up to nowJotul is & has proven not to be one of the honorable mentions. Yet in all fairness, If there's a change of heart on their part? I'll definitely update this (as winter approaches). Yet at this point it seems unlikely from them, i.e or from their distributor by there lack of concern & condesending tone & true lack of professionalism.

    The reason for the low ground clearance is because it’s set low from factory to help with rollover and stability with its narrow stance with unsuspecting customers. Get your suspension tool out and adjust the ring to the specs in your owners manual and it will sit at the 11 inch. In doing so it will suck wheels in so it isn’t as wide.

    Curious how this stove is holding up after a few years? Any issues or are you still happy with your stove?

    How did you bolt the hard top top the windshield? I bought a kit for my rear hard top bolt but everyone says to use self tapping screws in the windshield but I want something that can go in and out over time without an issue in the front

      So. Mine was removed before to put the soft top on. It was just some screws on the front. Across the all metal lip that runs on top of the windshield. I just took the screws out that were there and then put them back in. Im sure self tappers would work. Or drill for whatever size fit through the holes in the soft top
