I just started having issues two days ago starting my the om617 in my bronco ii. I would have to pump the hand primer to start it and sometimes the engine would be way down on power. The om617 swap Facebook page led me to the lift pump and rebuild is on the way. I just can't believe the chances of waking up to a notification of you working on the same thing.. crazy!

Very timely video, I just picked up a 7.5mm super pump for mine and was looking at rebuilding the lift pump before I swap it.
Great to hear from you. I think my problem was more the clog from the shot primer pump rubber. But its defiantly at a good idea. Im looking forward to see how yours comes out.

That just made me want to buy a rebuild kit and primer and I haven’t even gotten motor mounts fabbed up yet🤣🤣🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🦖 great to see it running again!
Never knew that primer pump could Disintegrate and cause such a problem like that it’s cheap and easy it may not be a bad idea. To just replace the primer pump at least
@@AlfonsLC I’ve been throwing money at parts for over a year I doubt I’ll stop now so I’ll probably be ordering this on payday. Especially since the engine is dangling from the cherry picker and access is easy.
@@rexford71 good idea. They are old. Get everything while you can get at it. Mercedes source is my favorite place for this engine. Doomsday diesel also seems like a good guy. I may get somethings from him too. When you think yours will be done ?
@@AlfonsLC well, if the weather here cooperates and my carpal tunnel doesn’t tear me up too badly, I’m hoping in a month or so, maybe sooner. I literally don’t have much else I could possibly buy for this thing aside from a full rebuild kit which I don’t want to do lol. My main hang up is the motor mounts. I’ve seen all kinds of issues with the factory mounts in the jeeps from the swap group on Facebook. Doomsday is great, he is like a magician with these things, and part of the reason I’ve maxed out my credit card 3 times in the last year lol. I know once I get it paid off again his serpentine belt conversion will be done and I’ll be maxed again 🤣🤣🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ I just don’t have anyone to help which makes it difficult and slows things down considerably.

Need help primer pump is staying down when the engine is on then in about 15 seconds engine shutdown
You may need a nee primer and lift pump rebuild. This same problem can cause that. Check out mercedessoure.com
Do you have intentions of doing the 7.5mm injection pump and or turbo upgrade
Not anytime soon. But maybe someday right now I just want it in perfect mechanical working order with no leaks and so forth. The first thing I’m going to upgrade before the summer is the cooling system for the coolant and oil
