there is no such thing; weight is the absolute enemy of sports car driving; understeery 2.5 tons playstations are for paid marketing hyundai agents posing as youtubers. Sorry Joe, nothing in this world will ever make a 5N a driver's car or a sports car for that matter; also, the main reason for which everyone should despise it is related to the playstation-y aspect; it takes something good, something fabulously at times, which a good driving is and can be..and makes a mockery of it due to all out accessibility...the difference being, it allows ppl who don't have the skills to drive much more fast than they are capable to control; I hope I don't need to further clarify why that's such a bad thing. And no, it is not a sign of the age we are living...it is a sign of greedy manufacturers wanting to offer the instant gratification of social media giants in automotive form!, in no way shape or form that has anything to do with proper driving and cars designed for drivers and enthusiasts. I know it is a hard thing to do but you guys are(or should be) the last bastions of enthusiastic driving; don't bail out...don't cheap out when it is in your grasp to make a proper stand and, with your clear intentions, manage to rally behind you viewers and followers who feel and think alike.

With regards the MX5 that Peter chose my son and I at the start of summer drove to Kent from Glasgow to buy a Mk 1 MX5 in red on a 91 plate with just over 100k for £5k and my son drove it home without a breakdown. We have had it looked at in a number of garages subsequently, tyres and bodywork repairs due to a back end loss on a wet roundabout and all the professionals have commented that it is the cleanest most original example they have ever seen, so they are out there. Another brilliant episode guys.

I have now spent 24hrs thinking about my 4 garages. I have to write it down as i have other things to do. Ive added another rule which was only one car per manufacturer across all 8 cars. 150k - BMW M8 Grande Coupe. £75k. Porsche Cayman 718 GT4 £75k 100k - 2022 Alfa Guilia Quadrifoglio £55k. Alpine A110 S £45K 50k - 2019 Audi TTRS £37K. VW up 5 door GTI £13k 25k - Kia Stinger GT 3.3 v6 2019 (for 7 year warranty) £20k. Mazda Rx8 (compression tested). £5k I would say the 50k was the toughest. I did consider an Aston Martin V8 Vantage with some upgrades or The Jaguar FType instead of the Audi. But happy with my choices. Great podcast.

For 5k you could get a mint MX5, just check for welding! 😜 But the engine will go on for ever... 💪

No to the Audi A6. I’m a grandad and I wouldn’t choose that car! I would choose a BMW 5 series any day! I like some of the other choices you made but not sure I’d want the green Skoda on my driveway either perhaps a Golf Gti would be better? The other thing you may wish to consider is insurance and servicing costs for some of the cars you have chosen. I know it’s only a game in an ideal world where these things don’t matter but in reality they do. It would make your game overly complicated too to include these things I guess but an enjoyable episode, thanks!

Ped, I am disappointed in a fun car under £5,000. Get quite a reasonable R53 JCW or a slightly modified R53 Cooper S

Great game to play and just shows what you can buy. Days of new cars I think are over for us - just too expensive and lose too much. For same price as replacing the X7 alone - Disco 4 (family bus), Caterham Superlight R (toy), Mini Electric (Runabout), Defender 90 V8 (fun, dog and shooting car) and M760iL (V12 itch to scratch and love a 7). More to run admittedly but won’t dump 50% of value over next 3 years! Not as shiny as new but older I get, less I care.

as a teenager there was a guy down the road who worked for BT, is two car garage was a Citroen 2CV as a daily and a Magnum Ferrari as his dream car, looking back now have the utmost respect to have so different cars

What makes the Hyundai N cars so great, is that in all models they nail the fundamentals that are the steering feel, pedal feel, gearbox, strong brakes, seating position, engine sound. Most other new cars will fall short in at least one of them, or in a lot of cases more. Enthusiast cars don’t need to be class leading in outright power, technology, comfort etc. Just make them fun.

Oh and would have to be a 993 Turbo in Ruby Star, I have a 718 Gts Cayman , with the correct number of cylinders 😉 , I love the modernity of it, it can sit in the garage for weeks and starts on the button , but the itch for a classic is growing, and just watched Peds drive on the g series turbo, what a car , maybe time to start scrolling through those classifieds. Did get a chance to say hi to you guys just after you filmed this, thank you for your time, if your at revival next week may see you there , thanks for the content, keep it coming 🙂
