Triumph Bobber: Massmoto hot rod install (No tools, no clue)
After removing the stock exhaust this video is about installing and assessing (noise level & sound) the massmoto hot rod short.
Part 1 (Removal of the stock exhaust + kat): ua-cam.com/video/J9UcYlOx52w/v-deo.html
Disclaimer for my German fellows: Yesterday, the TÜV found that the exhaust is too loud. And IMHO I agree, which is probably due to the Db-Killer that vibrated itself out on the right side. MASS was so kind to provide a replacement db-Killer which only has two cutouts instead of 5 which no satisfied the TÜVs requirements - and is more silent.

You forgot to remove the serial cable again. You only need to flash it once.
The chip inside does not allow over the air update (space too small to accommodate old and new firmware at the same time). So in case you ever want to do an update, an exposed serial port cable might come in handy. Cheers!
Hallo Bernhard!
Clearly a total loss, I am glad you survived.
Thanks for your empathy, mate!
Vers good working
Bell Bullitt
Has anyone modified this system to output 30 amps for the HLT and boil?
How about STC1000? Cheaper Easier More functions
Probably didn’t need an angle grinder
Tried for 3hours fiddeling it out and gave up eventually...
Angle grinder?!! 😮 You don't have to do that!!
:D Tried for 3hours without, then gave up.
You just unbolt the left side of the frame.
Moin Meister. Was hast du denn da rausgeflext?
I think the warning on the display is because the catalytic converter and the lambda sensor are missing, so you have to install a dummy that fools the electronics into thinking the sensor is still there.
You can leave out the heat shield, it was only important for the catalytic converter because the catalytic converter gets incredibly hot. A catalytic converter on a motorbike....is nonsense anyway. The important thing is the pipe, i.e. the connection between the exhaust pipe on the left and right without the interference pipe you have less power. Especially with the BMW Boxer you notice how much the power drops without the intermediate pipe interference pipe. I have also noticed this with other Twin's. I don't have any experience with the Triumph Twin's, but I think there is a lack of power without the pipe. Greetings from the Chaos State Germany
How did you address the fuel mapping issue?
Please explain what you mean by "fuel mapping" ?:)
Hi Thanks for the both videos really helpful! Do you live in Germany as well? Are we allowed to drive motorcycle in Germany with x- pipe, i would like to put x pipe with Zard Exhaust on Bonneville t120 but im not sure about the laws? And i see that you have removed the cat completely.
Yes I do. My Massmoto has a Cat built in. Xpipes without a cat is not legal in Germany afaik
@@BernhardSchlegel ty for your fast reply! would you like to provide me a link from your exhaust? I can’t find any information about other exhaust with cat build in…
Such an amazing sounding and looking bike. Being a Harley owner, this bike is a possible purchase!
Hey. Any Tips 😊lg
Servus !
I watched both videos. Why do people who have no idea what they are doing make a video to prove it? There was no need to Grind the cat off. You could have disconnected it without ruining the bracket. I did not see or hear anything about replacing the gaskets between the head pipe and the cylinder head. Those two gaskets should be replaced when changing pipes. You also didn’t properly torque the bolts holding the head pipe to the head. Yes, your smoke could have been paint or oil burning off but could be from not properly torquing your bolts.
Hi. Geiler Sound. Wo haste denn Auspuff bestellt wenn man fragen darf? 😁
Klar darf man! Direkt beim Hersteller in Italien.
@@BernhardSchlegel Okay danke 😁
Why not run straight pipes?
These were the straightest, street legal I could find :)
I like the stock sound of the Bobber but holy does this crackle and pop in all the right places
:D I really hope it's crackling in the right places. But TÜV was OK with it.
Der TÜV hat das so abgenommen? 😂 Nice haha
9:17 Do *not* "apply solder", a tinned multi-strand wire will make a much worse connection in a screw terminal than a twisted multi-strand wire. In most countries it's illegal to do that. The best is a ferule but the twisted wires work just a well. If you absolutely want to tin them, you have to do it strand by strand 😀
Wire end ferrul is the way to go.
Great videos! The real sound test revives the engine [constant at] 50% of the red line RPM. That's how pipes are tested in Thailand, anyway.
Hi, thanks for the video, I want to know if this exhaust pipe will fit with triumph swing arm bag? Since the bag sits above the stock exhaust and this is slightly tilted upwards?
Hi, unfortunately I can't say much on this as I don't have a triumph swing arm bag. To me it looks like it'll be a close case ;)
can you use the device if there no WIFI conection in the area? brewing in the basement for example
WiFi and internet are required. Worst case you need to get a used repeater for $20.
awesome tutorial! does the ESP32 have to stay on the sonoff after flashing is complete or can i remove it?
You mean the COM Port flasher? This can be removed. But you cannot remove the main uC of the Sonoff (the ESP32). I just left the cables in case I want to flash a new software in the future (so I don't have to open the case again). Cheers
Hi, sounds quite cool, wanna buy a brick in the near future! One quick question: is it possible to pause the program in order to change time or temperature if necessary?
Hi! Jep that's possible, there is an edit button when a brew is going on in automatic mode.
@@BernhardSchlegel Perfect, thanks a lot!
hi I have a question. Is it possible to use an orange pi instead of a raspberry pi thanks
"import RPi.GPIO as GPIO" has to be replaced by "import OPi.GPIO as GPIO" in main.py then it should work. If you succeed I'd love to see a pull request detecting the platform and importing the right thing automatically. Cheers!
Is it important that the pressure going to the iTap is slightly higher than to the keg?
I'd say "no" for two reasons: A) Because if you leave it like that, no beer will flow from Keg to iTap (and thus bottle) - because it can't move towards higher pressure. B) you open up the "exhaust" of the iTapX anyways to fill the bottle. This will drop the pressure. And maybe C) it would require two pressure reducers attached to two different CO2 bottles (unless you have a Y-Adaptor) - which is very unpractical. Hope I didn't say that in the video?!
Hi, so does it work without a wifi connection? Is it mandatory to use BierBot Bricks? Thank you.
Yes, it is. All logic for recipe management is running on the server where it is maintained and updated for you.
Also meine den winkel
Sounds good to me, but your install video pointed out some fitment issues. How did those get sorted out?
You're referencing the smoke coming off? That was gone after some time. It was just vaporizing chemicals on the black coating.
@@BernhardSchlegel Sorry, no. I was referring to the kickstand clearance issue.
@@tyroneshoelace4872 That I never solved. But if have have to I would do a custom CNC cut and welded part that gives 3mm more clearance. Unfortunately, I currently don't have time for this :(
@@BernhardSchlegel Odd that the manufacturer would not address it for you. I mean, it's their fault, right? Anyway, doesn't it damage the pipe?
I did not reach out to them cause I thought maybe it's my wrongdoing... But you're right - I'll reach out. A little (only paint), but it's at the bottom side so not catching my attention.
How did you resolve the kickstand issue?
I went for accepting rather than resolving. But solution would be to make a new custom middle piece

You're speaking of a 24v beer pump, wich model do you use?
Hey! It's this one (or at least very similar): amzn.to/3D1wnr0
Great Video. How's the software one coming along?
In the pipeline still... Currently using my time to improve the software itself (there are some milestones I want to reach BEFORE creating a soon to be outdated video).
That's pretty cool! When I built my brewing controller using PID and relays I ran into a wifi relay very similar to the Sonos and I wired it inside the panel to be able to turn system on remotely to heat water up ahead of time. 😊 Amazing how much more is available these days! I'm saving your videos in my "control panel 3.0" playlist Thank-you for your videos!
If you start a brew in our software, you can also do a scheduled start in the future (to heat up water). Cheers!
@@BernhardSchlegel that's what I used the smart switch, it pulled in main contractor when I needed it )
The smoke is just the paint setting up and burning a little bit. Completely Normal and it disappears in a few runs.
Great work! Can the relay in the Sonoff be used with PWM control? I'm guessing that's how it's used for boil control? Cheers!
For temperature control there is a pwm like implementation which will turn off the relay before set temperature is reached so overshoots are eliminated. For boiling there will be a slow pwm (90% maps to 9s On, 1s off) - but that is a Todo for the future. Check our forum there is a discussion around that topic.
How do you like it so far ? This is the short version right?
Yep, this is the short version! Awesome :) Makes the whole bike 2x the fun.
Do you got a AliExpress link of the Led strip and Bluetooth controller.
Unfortunately not, ordered it on a lokal LED store. But any "waterproof aluminium LED stripe" should do :)
Great tutorial! Can you please clarify how I set the jumper to 3V3?
One Side of the jumper is labelled with 3V3 and the other with 5V. Remove the plastic thingy from the 5V side (factory setting in my experience) ans insert it on the other. Does that help?
@@BernhardSchlegel Helped a lot.... Super tks
Thanks a lot for the video. I never saw a system with glass bottles. I bought the Pegas system 6 years ago and still use it today. Pegas you can use only with plastic bottles. But it is very very good. ua-cam.com/video/RTdsCRRGby8/v-deo.html Never used it for long term bottling. I used it more for, “I am going to a party, fill some bottles and go…!” I am also using a Pygmy 25 now instead of my Keezer, which can process 25 liters an hour. My system is 50 liters. 2 hours bottling plus all the cleaning? Definitely worth considering though! Thanks again!
Hi bro I'm D, I'm from India. I liked your video. I'm making a samart E-bike. I'm using a 7inch touchscreen display for my bike's odometer using raspberry pi 4 . I actually need some guidance for that would you like to help me?
Not really my topic. If you have a open source Github repo, feel free to ping me
Hi Bernhard. I have checked(on the internet) that hydrom hydrometer runs into the app TILT 2. I was wondering if it would be possible to integrate it into "bierbotbrick". Do you use the hydrometer in corny kegs o stainless steel fermenters. I ask you that because of the connectivity. Many thanks
Hey Augustin, in stainless steel vessels we use an iSpindel that relies on WiFi. Hydrom and Tilt app may also work. Consult our documentation about how to setup the tilt app. Also, you can reach out to hydrom to provide us a unit so we can integrate it nicely if you want :)
@@BernhardSchlegel I will try it!! Many thanks.
