Loved listening, Miriam! 😍 Sylvia’s Lovers is going to be my highlight, I think! I’ve had a great Victober, though, still plugging away at Nicholas Nickleby, and Women in White. I really loved The Grey Woman, albeit the end was a bit rushed. I read The Golden Key with my kiddos, I listened to Mrs. Warren’s Profession and I’ve been reading some Christina Rossetti poems. 😍My son and I watched a Jeremy Brett Sherlock episode. I enjoyed The Study in Scarlett episode, too, a couple years ago, if you are interested. Brett is an amazing Sherlock, a bit on the creepy side. They are on UA-cam.

I completely agree with you about The Doctor’s Wife. It is definitely not top tier imo. On the other hand, Lady Audley’s Secret IS one of my favorites. Mary Elizabeth Braddon is hit or miss in the same way Charles Dickens is for me.

I have put down Wilkie Collins Man and Wife for now as I am finishing up Mary Stewart's Madam Will You Talk? I enjoyed reading What Happened to the Bennetts by Lisa Scottolini because it was a fast read. I do find some of the Victorian novels to be boring or I am just not into it. I hear everyone swoon over a book that I could not care less about. With Victorian novels, they can be hit or miss. I have read and liked Lady Audley's Secret which makes it hard to find something as well written as that book.

I have been collecting all of the Amelia Peabody series by Elizabeth Peters. I think I have one left in the series. Anthony Horowitz I have only read one book by him. It is titled “The Word of Murder”. I really enjoyed it. It blurred the lines of what was fact and what was fiction. He makes himself a character in the book. You might find it interesting. Such a great haul. Happy reading!

I chose Dracula to read for Victober, but I am not sure I will get to it. However, I accidentally started a novel published in 1895 (I think) called He Fell In Love With His Wife and it is such a fun read. I am counting that as my Victorian read... 😂

Ok question (for you and for anyone reading this that reads classics lol) I know intro's and notes can spoil the book if you haven't read it before, so from your personal experience reading classics, do you read them before or after the book (or at all)?? :)
