* adds all to list * love retellings! once upon a time is one of my favorite shows because i loooove how they retold stories but maintained the integrity of each story. thank you for sharing! ✨
Two of my daughters have read Ella Enchanted and loved it. My 11 year old asked for a copy of her own for Christmas last year. It was the first book she read that she couldn't put down and was constantly reading just for fun. 💗
🧚♀ Always happy to see a book(s) on my tbr get recommended by you, as I know that increases the chances of it being a read I'll enjoy. 🦄 Here's some titles you might enjoy: Castle Waiting by Linda Medley The Hero's Guide to Saving Your Kingdom by Christopher Healy Snow and Rose by Emily Winfield Martin To Crack a Soldier by Sarah Beran The Hamster Princess series by Ursula Vernon (these are great for when you feel a reading slump coming on) Hope you're having a wonderful February, Miriam, both in and out of the pages! 🧚♀
This was so great! Lots of new books for my tbr! And I saw the middle grade Cinderella- Disenchanted at the library and was wondering if it was any good. Now I know! 😄
I have been in the mood to read fantasy lately and fairytale retellings sound so good to me. Now I have a list to start with. 😊 I think the only ones I have already read are Entwined and Enchanted Sonata. And I liked both of those... Several of the others you talked about are going on my list.
I was blown away when I read Shannon Hale's version of The Goose Girl about six years ago. I thought it was clever the way she managed to maintain suspense while still staying faithful to the traditional story. I went camping about two years ago and found a used copy of it at a little bookshop they had there and didn't hesitate to buy it almost right away because I wanted to read it again (technically, books at that shop were free, but you could donate money to keep the place running and I donated a twenty dollar bill because I was so happy that book was there)
Sooooo fun, Miriam! I enjoyed many of these, too! So disappointing about the second in the moon goddess- I haven’t even tried it! Is there a third, too?! I only read Disenchanted in that series and REALLY loved it! I definitely think you should try K. B. Hoyle’s Son of the Deep (gender swapped Little Mermaid) or her new Snow Queen retelling, Son of Bitter Glass.
I've never gotten into fairy tale retellings. I read a few by Melanie Dickerson but i wasn't a fan of her writing style. I should try some of these because who doesn't love a good fairy tale?! 🧚♀️
Wonderful recommendations, Miriam! 📚 I read The Princess of Wind and Waves by Melanie Cellier (retelling of The Little Mermaid) 🧜♀️ during the summer for a book club. It is part of her Beyond the Four Kingdoms series. I would like to read the rest of the series. It was enjoyable. I have Cinder on my bookshelf. I wrote all of these titles down in my future reads notebook. These would all work well for my Folklore February Readathon. I want to read ALL of them! 😊 I would recommend Snow & Rose by Emily Winfield Martin (middle grade). It is a retelling of “Snow-White and Rose-Red” by Brothers Grimm. 🧚♀️
@miriamelizabethreads oh good! It's a beauty and the beast retelling, not marketed as Christian but definitely allegorical elements present. I really enjoyed it!

The princess search by Melanie Cellier is my favorite retelling 😁
I realllyyyy want to read Fairest Son
It’s a quick read but so whimsical!!
Entwined was cute!!
No Melanie Dickerson? 😮 I’ve heard good things of The Fairest Beauty (Snow White retelling)
I’ve tried a few of her books and just couldn’t get into them 🫣😅 Her writing style just isn’t for me 🙃
ENCHANTED SONATA!! 🔥🔥🔥
🙌🏽❤️
i also hated heart of teh sun warrior. But everyone else seems to love it, meanwhile i feel like my trust was betrayed lol
Glad I’m not the only one 😅
Ella ❤
🦄🦋 I couldn’t find the fairy. 🤣
LOL those are perfectly fairytale-ish 😂
Have you ever read Before Beauty by Brittany Fischter?
No I haven’t but I added it to my goodreads TBR!!
@miriamelizabethreads oh good! It's a beauty and the beast retelling, not marketed as Christian but definitely allegorical elements present. I really enjoyed it!
