I like how you mention your DNFs for the month. Sometimes I put down a lot of books before finding the right one for the moment 😆 I hope your October reading is fulfilling! 🍁 🍂
My September reading was very similar. I can't even remember how many books I dnf'd or just sent back to the library before I started. I hit a big slump for about a week or two. October is off to a great start, though! I'm mood reading and loving everything I've chosen thus far. 🎉
I liked Juniper Bean. A Fortnight in September sounds interesting, one that you could just read when you don't know what to read. I'm sorry you had a bit of a slumpy September. Hoping your October is better.
That's perfectly said! "one you could read when you don't know what to read" exactly!! It's also one I would take with me on a trip, it's one I should have read much slower and taken the time to treat it more like a journal if anything. Thank you! I hope your October reading is great!!
I thoroughly enjoyed that you read a book with the mention of maple syrup and a cat is the best thing about the book. Not sure why that tickled me but it did. As always it’s good to see you and catch up with your book reading. 😊
Juniper Bean and Fortnight are on my TBR! ♥️ sorry September was slow! My favorite from September was probably All of a Kind Family by Sydney Taylor! 😊
I'm really excited to pick up Juniper Bean this month! 👏🏻 It sounds perfect for the mood I'm in. I also am really interested in Man of Shadow and Mist! I keep picking it up at the store, but I haven't followed through yet. Anticipating your thoughts! ♥✨
I forgot about the first person/present for Juniper. I had a BLAST with that book. And I wondered if it was because it was at ther right moment but I think it's just a hoot because it is a hoot. I need to get Shadow and Mist. I keep forgetting it! I also love that you just DNF'd. That's the best choice when you're not going into it. Maybe that is what I need to do with Tower in the Mist.
It was a mix of both for me, the right moment and it's a hoot! 😄 DNFing has become so freeing, and I have come back to books later on and enjoyed them so I like that I can just set a book down for the time being and pick it back up when the mood strikes!😊
I really enjoyed this wrap-up! While you were talking about the Elizabeth Fair book, I was reminded of a favorite of mine, "Vittoria Cottage" by D.E. Stevenson. Have you read it? It is a village read set in England, and I read it a couple years back. I remember it being charming, funny, cozy, and just having all the English village feels. I really enjoyed it! I thought I would pass on the title to you if you haven't read it yet. I've been seeing a lot about "The Fortnight in September" this fall so far and I've put it on my list for next September. I enjoyed hearing your thoughts! Have a lovely rest of your week! ♥
I loved The Fortnight in September, but I can see how it would be a big snore for a lot of people. Each character has a tiny moment of discovery, and I thought that was well done. I also thought that the portrayal of the parents dealing with their children as they get older was interesting. My quibble with the book is that I felt the female characters (mother & daughter) were less well developed than the male characters. One scene I won't forget is the family on the train at the beginning of their journey, viewing their own back garden from the train, and how it looked different from that perspective. It's a book I want to re-read; I think I missed some important ideas about family.
I've heard good things about it, I really enjoyed his writing in Fortnight so I'll have to give the sci-fi one a try at some point. I'm like you though, I have to be in the mood.
Ugh... it makes me so mad at myself when I decide to push through a book that I really should have DNF! But then, at the same time, if I do DNF it, I'm constantly wondering it it would have gotten better. 1st world problems, right? 😂
October is going to be better yesss
I want to read Juniper Bean! And congrats on finishing Sherlock Holmes, that's exciting!! 🥳
October is going to be better, My Friend! 🍁🍂🍁🍂
Amen to that! So far so good! 🥰
I'm hoping to read my very first Sherlock Holmes this Fall😊.
All of Sherlock! That's exciting!
I like how you mention your DNFs for the month. Sometimes I put down a lot of books before finding the right one for the moment 😆
I hope your October reading is fulfilling! 🍁 🍂
Thanks Katie! Soft DNFing is so freeing! I hope yours has too! 🥰🍁🍂

I just looked All of a Kind Family up on goodreads, it sounds sooo so sweet!!!
@@miriamelizabethreads it was! I listened to the audio and sigh. ♥️🥹

Now that you've finished Sherlock Holmes how about a couple of Tarzan books next summer? 😂 I've never read them 😂
As always, love your videos 😍!
Ooohh idk about Tarzan 😂😂😂 I guess we'll see!! Haha. Thanks so much for watching 🥰🥰🥰
Skyward by Brandon Sanderson was my only 5 star last month, but everything else was 4 stars so that's really good actually lol
4 stars are great!! I'm hoping October is better for me 🤣 so far so good!

Hey Elizabeth! I have heard of it! I haven’t read anything by DE Stevenson yet but need to rectify that!! 🥰
Im hoping to get to the man of shadow and mist this month!
It's very fun! I hope you enjoy it :)
I hope you try Absolutely Truly again. I just finished it per your suggestion, and I really enjoyed it.
I definitely want to! I was intrigued by Truly's father and his struggles... Curious to see how the story will play out.

Agreed about the moment of discovery!!
I would definitely like to reread it in the future but take my time with it and slowly observe each character
The second book in the Maple Syrup series is MUCH better than Doomful.
Oh good to know! Thanks :)
@miriamelizabethreads you're welcome 😊
I soft DNF'd a RC Sherrif this book, his sci-fi. Given the time they were written, I loved the book. Just wasn't in the mood for sci-fi.
I've heard good things about it, I really enjoyed his writing in Fortnight so I'll have to give the sci-fi one a try at some point. I'm like you though, I have to be in the mood.

EXACTLY!!!! 🤣🤣🤣 so relatable!!!
