@Still-Sitting. Yeah, I’ll bet that’s pretty cool on a Sim. I had hopped to go back a few more times this summer, but with all the fires, it got pretty smoky. I made that short little video just to encourage people to land North when needed due to winds. Seems to be a reluctance because standard procedure is to land south.

@@WheelsInTheSky landed an A-6 Intruder north on the sim. Unfortunately I’m paraplegic from a ladder fall. But have 14 instruction hours from my younger days. And absolutely love the sim. 2024 version comes out in November. Can’t wait. I salute you pilots. Especially ones who give beautiful videos like this to all of us. You guys are amazing. 🫡🙏

Sorry to hear about the latter fall, I think about that a lot nowadays every time I go up a ladder or climb on the roof.- I did finally buy a safety harness I’ll get my buddy gear and make another video here shortly. Just seems life so busy nowadays. But actually, I’m just not very efficient probably

@Latrina_Bidet_IRS_Enforcer. Yeah, I’m so upset with our economy. Everything seems to cost double what it should. Maybe drop everything but liability, to reduce your premium. Perhaps not a great idea, but it’s better than not flying. I think.

@graemecatty9921. Hi, I think he gets pretty good mileage-at least for a plane. I didn’t go back and listen to the video, instead I just sent Bob a text inquiring, and he just replied. He says at 10,500’ he’s at 195kts and 6.8gph. About 33 miles per gallon. I think 14 kilometers per liter. Better than anything in my garage or my hanger.

@PaulDouglas. Hey Paul. Yeah, it was fun. Five of us went up this morning- 3 Rockets, an RV8 and an RV6.

@lonzo61 yeah, makes a huge difference in the fun level when you have others to fly with. That’s why I like RV types so much. They feel like little fighters.

@lonzo61. The RV 8 is an excellent all round plane. I always thought the Swift was pretty cool to. Having a good group of guys to fly with makes a huge difference. Yes, we’re all ex-military. Pretending we’re still young.

@earlstories. Either mogas or 100LL. But Bob says it likes mogas better. He just fills up some containers when he’s at the gas station and takes it to the airport with him.

@manfredstrappen7491. Yes, it’s a pretty easy strip. I only post because I see a reluctance to land north, even when the winds are significantly from the north. But, you’re right, nice easy strip.

@dabneyoffermein595. Hi, glad you enjoyed the video. Vans still offers the RV4 kit for sale on their website. Of course they also offer several other kits. Since the kits are put together by the owners, each one is going to be somewhat unique. Burnie’s has a 180 hp engine, so it has great performance. We flew a six ship formation yesterday, Burnie was in his RV14, although he likes that plane, he made several comments about how much he likes the way his RV4 handles, especially in formation.

@erichetherington8999. It’s an awesome place. Just got back the other day. Spent 4 days at Johnson Creek. High winds the first two days, then nice weather. Hiked Thomas Creek. And Lower Loon. I’ll see if I’ve got enough video to post something.

@@WheelsInTheSky I see you talking about potentially fitting bigger tires on these for rougher takeoffs/landings. Did Bob ever get back to you? What size of tire can you get on them?

@garrettwilt5839 Hi Will, I just talked to Bob. He says he’s got the smaller tires and the new Risen’s have, or can be fitted with bigger tires for grass strips. He was driving and said he’ll text me shortly with the size of those bigger tires. I’ll make a note to check back with you.

@bobjoatmon1993. Yeah, sorry to hear that. I switched to Basic Med 2 years ago. As soon as I retired from the airlines, my AME started getting finicky. Like, I didn’t really need a medical anymore, since I wasn’t flying for a living. I know my day will come soon enough, so for now I get as much enjoyment as I can.

@@WheelsInTheSky unfortunately, aFib treated with a Cardioversion (they shock your heart stopped then shock it back beating) is a disqualifing condition for Basic Med, I reported it and had the FAA pull my license. Still, I have my A&P so I still get some amount of aviation fix, it's not cold turkey.

Joe sold his 3 and then recently bought it back. There’s also another 3 coming to our airport soon. I’m excited to do a dedicated video on just the RV3. @janwojnowski3748. Thank you. Good to hear from our friends in Poland! I’ll be heading back up to Idaho soon. I’ve been studying the map at Lower Loon airstrip. There’s some nice hikes and a hot spring there. Same kind of approach- over the river through a canyon to a 1200’ strip.

@dundas9222. Hi. Yes, all have 540’s. Make a big difference when you have a group to fly with. My Rocket is down right now with the engine out, but hopefully will be back in the air in June.
