    2:19 thanks for documenting/sharing this build. I 100% agree that the 130 tire on the back is practical,, but I wonder if the weight of the stock 18 inch setup is nearly equal to 17 inch with 130 tire.. The engine should feel like it has a bit more grunt with the smaller diameter wheel/tire compared to the stock height setup.. and now that I think about it,, if you pinch both a 130 and 140 by the same 3.5inch where they meet the rim, then the contact patch is nearly identical because the diameter (3.5) doesn't change,,, so the cheaper and practical 130 width is probably the best choice,,, and the owner should notice the engine is a bit peppier.. 👍

    Which is generally better as a motard build. Honda XR150L or Yammy XTZ 125. I was leaning toward Yammy as I think its 10-20kg lighter. Both prob make the same amount of HP. But the Honda has more options in the big bore build side. Am waiting for your final Honda XR190 review.

    Finally. I have an XTZ125 also a dt125, planning to motard the xtz cause I'll be swapping the 18/21 to the dt. Thanks for the guide. Although if you could also specify the spoke sizes on the rear wheel because they have different sizes on both sides of the hub. Thanks a bunch. Cheers.

      185mm for the rear works for both sides of the rear wheel. But if you want to be specific, you can use 170mm sprocket side and 160mm drum side.

    This is yet another kool bike that manufacturer's have marketed in the Asian markets but not in the US. The Honda 150L was the only small Dual Sport I'm aware of but w/ all the sales of Amazon bikes I'm surprised more offerings have not come? The little Honda is $2900USD's + the Title/Tags of about $500usd's more. About $3,400 pays for the bike ; then get gear & insure her for the road. I love watching your work, whatever I wind up with, I'll be sending the wheels to be done right. The fat spokes seems to be an art form unto itself & you're the only one I see doing the work? I know it's harder working the heavier spokes into your wheel but you've prooved it can be done & it LQQK's so HoT !! Thanks man, peace

    • @1122redbird
      @1122redbird День тому

      I totally agree. I'm in the US too and it frustrates me that the manufacturer's don't offer us the small displacement bikes you find in Asia and sometimes in Europe. I love the XR150L but wish we had the Yamaha XTZ125 too. Something unique about these simple bikes with the small displacement, carburetors, rear drum brake, traditional forks, air cooled, analog speedometer...utilitarian but with everything you need and nothing you don't. Please Yamaha, release this bike in the USA.

    • @diggy-d8w
      @diggy-d8w День тому

      @@1122redbird Yes, Yamaha quit selling a great little bike called the XT225, 6-speed Trans, and air cooled. I guess the XT 250 is the big brother & an air cooled bike that I'm actually looking at buying. Simple bikes easy to deal with & carbs are not a problem especially when you've only got the 1 Carb, nothing like a 3-4 carb bike w/ the problems they have at times...... but yes, I think we need some smaller bikes to rival the Amazon bikes. The Honda 150L is the kind I mean & it costs about $1000 more than the Amazon bikes but I'd pay it to know it's a bullet proof bike = good luck man

    • @1122redbird
      @1122redbird День тому

      @@diggy-d8w Oh yes, I still see the XT225 for sale on the used market sometimes. It's the little brother of the XT250 and has a rear drum (which I like) and I wish they were still offered. The XT250 is nice and I considered getting one, but they are nearly 7k USD total after MSRP, taxes, and dealer add on fees. They have fuel injection starting in 2012 I think. I got a KLX230 as it has a 6th gear and was a little taller. I think the big 4 Japanese manufacturers have limited the lower cost, basic bikes in the US to try and push people to spend more. But Honda broke that by releasing the XR150L which has sold well. Hoping the others follow. There is something fun about riding a slow bike fast and hard. Yamaha does have the TW200 but to me that is kind of a niche bike with its fat tires and low seat. And it's more expensive than the XR150L and the XTZ125 (if it were offered in the US).

    • @diggy-d8w
      @diggy-d8w День тому

      @@1122redbird the XT 250 is $5,500 + Dealer Costs/Tags -n- Title. Normally it's about $500-$700 for those other costs so I'm guessing you can get the XT250 for $6,200 out the door? Some places are higher but this is todays price at the Honda PowerSports website. It had been $5,100 for a few years but it went UP. You have the 230KLX? IDKnow it had a 6th gear but now I wonder if the KLX 300 has a 6th gear? I've looked but have forgotten w/ so many choices? The reason I'm here is Smaller Bikes & how this man makes the look great. Asian/S.American markets tend to have the smaller bikes for the public who can't afford more but that's now how the US Market has become. We need simple bikes & I do believe the XT250 is a carb'd bike. I like simple bikes, we don't need a 10 inch display & days of reading to select how to operate a motorcycle. ABS is almost the only "On/Off" thing I like & I'd use it on the roads b/c it will save your arsse if the wheels start slipping. If Honda does really well, look for the other Japanese sellers to offer their own smaller dual sport bikes. I see it happening but once I buy I'm keeping what I get. They are bullet proof just so you don't treat them to badly? peace

      @1122redbird День тому

      @@diggy-d8w My out the door price quote back in April was around 7k at 2 shops. Good luck if you think you can get one for 6200, maybe where you live but not here. Stealerships add way more than 500-700 in fees. Try 1000 - 1500 or more. Prices may stabilize and come down now that the pandemic has passed and there are a lot of used bikes on the market.

    I had one of these in Cambodia! Theres a few of them around that have been direct imported there. I did love this bike for everyday use! Nice to have electric starter. Had the fork seals go twice in a short time. Quite hard to get but we did. For more power l put in a XR400 stage 1 cam. Made it much better for pick up and mid range! Could have done with a bigger output battery as you lose the auto decompression with the new cam! Sold it before l splashed out on a flat slide carb and exhaust which would have been beneficial!
