The channel aims to showcase various clips of good ringing from quarter peals, peals, outings and general ringing from as many towers as possible, both from a belfry and ringing room perspective - maybe both sometimes.
Also to demonstrate what can be achieved as a longer term hobby in terms of rhythm, music, physical and technical ability to new and potential new ringers who are interested in taking ringing up as a hobby.
Promoting ringing to young people and the next generation of recruits.

Amongst the bells: St George-the-Martyr, Borough
We go amongst the bells at Borough, St George-the-Martyr, during a successful quarter of Grandsire Triples, rung on Saturday 22nd December 2024.
The church inside is rather stunning; the stain-glass window, gallery, ceiling ornateness and at the time, choir rehearsing for the service which followed after the quarter.
The ringing room feels like taking a small step back in time, the bells are hung above an intermediate level in a Oak frame, with wooden headstocks. They were returned in 1936.

dove.cccbr.org.uk/tower/11183 The bells of East Malling, taken during a successful quarter attempt of Cambridge and Plain Bob Minor. Rung prior to the family Christmas service of the Provincial Priory of Kent, Knights Templars. A nice ring of 6, relatively easy going and sound decent, rather oddstruck though around 1, 2 and 3. An interesting ringing setup, with the ringing room ceiling extendin...

A few clips taken both outside and inside the tower from the Essex Trophy Competition 2024. The bells go relatively well, though oddstruck in places around the circle and acoustically a bit unequal. When pushed along a bit they sound relatively decent and a good venue to achieve some pretty decent ringing. During the split tenor and the occasional area, there was a tendency to speed up which wa...

A Friday evening practice consisting of 320 spliced Plain and Little Bob Royal, in preparation for the Essex Trophy Competition 2024. Two bells are hung a fair distance above the rest, so loud speakers aid their audibility in the ringing room. Above the ringing room there is a large clock room, making a 60 to 70ft draft. For some reason I decided to wake up a rather ungodly hour on Sunday with very little time to spare for ringing at York Minster, hence the previous clips of bells in Day 3's video and a slight rush for...

00:00 Huntington 08:18 Strensall 11:42 Easingwold 19:09 Kilburn Our penultimate day of tour saw us heading north of York. Our first tower was Huntington, a light and old sounding 8 - not the most tuneful, a tad oddstruck but very ring-able and productive bells - very clear inside and ideal for a striking competition. Ringing consisted of a touch attempt of Bob Triples, coming to grief after the...

0:00 - Clifton 3:49 - St Martin 13:09 - St Wilfred Our second day back ringing back in the city provided some real gems. A later start today, so some of us took advantage of going back into the city early for drinks, shopping and taking in some more of York. Simon, Rachel B and I stumbled across a cat cafe, Whiskers, somehow becoming very occupied with cats very quickly! First tower of the day ...

Starting off late morning, we were at the light 9cwt 8 of St Olave's. Some of them had to be worked a bit but easy going despite the longer draft and relatively tuneful. Amongst the bells and ringers: Cornhill

A few snippets of a quarter peal of Plain Bob Caters rung at Cornhill, rung for a very smartly dressed garden party. After coming down, we highly thanked for our ringing which made it very worthwhile. Bob Caters may not be the most musical method at times, however, the band gave it their best shot on the bells, rang for a worthwhile occasion and there were some rather respectable areas. Going t...

A relatively basic vide showing rounds at Dartford, Holy Trinity, rung prior to a wedding. They were cast in 1917 by Mears and are hung above a substantial intermediate level. The ringing room has a medium draft too, however this doesn't affect their go and they are a good, easy to handle 8. The bells seem to be in good condition too, but all 8 aren't rung very often by all accounts.

Old-fashioned bells but with a delightful, characterful tone. Keep them coming! 🔔
Another fantastic video, old skool bells but nice.
The old 12 here sounded rather odd, quite out of tune.
Some lovely ringing
These are such a lovely eight, I've always liked the sound of them. St Luke's have a different tone but equally nice to listen to.
Bellringer
I would love that as an alarm on my phone have looked but unfortunately I can't find one most apps loaded with rubbish and Price is ridiculous cheaper to buy my own bells but might piss the neighbour off at 5 in the morning
This is even a roblox game lol it called realistic bell testing
What a beautifully tuned set of bells.

What is it about bell ringing and trains, ok guilty as charged, but I know so many ringers who love trains.
If one looks closely, one can see a lesser spotted me!
Beautiful and well struck ringing as always 🥲
Lilliputters next summer tour needs to be Manchester.

Is it true that: a. You have to sign oodles of paperwork and undergo a training course before you even get close to having a go at handling the sallies? That's what I was told when I answered a 'come and have a go' flyer I found in my local branch of the King's (or Queen's as it was then) Church back in 2015. If that is false, I guess my face didn't fit....
Not true, I've been teaching people how to ring and we don't do that procedure.
@@RingerThomas Hmmmmm.....
Try going somewhere else! Almost every tower would welcome someone keen to learn to ring. There is plenty of training involved, one has to be taught step by step first how to pull the rope and control the bell, but there usually isn't any paperwork involved or specific courses etc.
Nice ringing but a cast a few years before Mears got on board with Simpson tuning. I think there first Simpson bells were1923. Still nice bells though.
If only Taylor's had their way...
@@RingerThomas I think a retune would do wonders for them. Even Gillets were using Simpson tuning before Whitechapel. I think we would both agree that Taylors cast some magnificent peals and still do.
@@Steven_RoweYes, now with modern tuning efforts bells can be improved a lot!
@@RingerThomas I just really like the sound of harmonically tuned bells, they just sound so lovely.
10 bells

1:09 Euan's favourite method as rung at Bradfield!
He doesn't sound very enthusiastic about it...!
Sad to see the lovely 3 at Kilburn, another 3 would be wonderful plus some love and definitely some paint.
The still photo of St Wifrees showing the ropes on the spider is interesting. Therexare 9 stripped sallys on it and 9ne stripped sally that isnt on the spider, but i can also see two other plain coloured sallys, yet ther are only bells plus one other bell for some reason.
1:54 omg is look like Roblox
1:46 2:00 sound like realistic bells (10 bell)
The back four at Clifton and the back four at Coney Street formerly formed a chime of eight at Illingworth, near Halifax. Illingworth now has a single bell cast in 1737 by the York founder, Edward II Seller, who also supplied the orginal ring of eight at Coney Street .

Saltaire, such a love peal of Eijsbouts, they sound like a modern Whitechapel peal. But are good are the Classic Taylor 8 at Skipton. Manifique
These bells are in B Major and they sound amazing
The church really looks like all saints Maidstone.
Awesome York minster.
More Annable's London at Spurriergate I see! Nice little method, I'm fond of the Norwich group.
Oh York Minster, what a wonderful peal of bells, They must have been made in heaven. Nothing else sounds as good to me.😊

Obviously the Lilliputters, will you please pass my comments on to them. This is SUPERB WELL STRUCK RINGING,on a beautiful peal of classic prewar Taylor GEMS. Pity it was only 3 leads and not a Quarter. I listen through head phones and i could lay down and just be in the zone, almost a trascended spiritual zone. It was Nikola Tesla who said, to understand the universe, one needs to understand energy, frquency and vibrations. Well that sums up bell ringing especially on a beautifully harmonically tuned peal and not a bunch of old bangers.
Howden sound identical to my local tower Ormskirk - beautiful bells. I looked up on Doves and the nominals of the back bells are the same - Ormskirk are slightly newer though Taylors 1948
@chrislea8463 all the videos I looked at of Omskirk were poor audio quality but they do sound good. There are so many good Taylor 8s around, also Taylor's seems to specialise in heavy 8 . Whilst I love Whitechapel light 8s I do thing 8s around the ton are so nice. The other thing with bells are the tower is also part of the instrument as a guitar body is to the strings. The. Classic example of when the guitar body is awful is Liverpool Cathedral, the tower is an an accoustic dissaster.
Here is a video I took of a visiting band from down south ringing at Ormskirk last summer: ua-cam.com/video/SugiYAd-ioY/v-deo.htmlsi=qMO4hj8bQ9_J2yxF They rang some decent things like Cambridge. Ormskirk are popular with visiting ringers there was a visiting band yesterday and another next month they tend go on a tour due to there being lots of towers close together where I live but Ormskirk are by far the best! They really have a thunderous tone to them as I think my video displays particularly the tenor is a wonderful bell in Eb it roars! I know you like your heavy Taylor tenors Steven like York. I’m not a fan of Liverpool Cathedral tbh rung there a good few times as you say the acoustics are woeful and the donut ringing box make the ringing scary! I much prefer Pier head as I know you do.
@@chrislea8463Ormskirk are wonderful. I just like the sound of quality bells. Pierhead are exceptional. As for the Liverpool Cathedral I'm sure they are great bells if in the right tower. Personally an exercise in madness, who wants to turn in the tenor It is odd, I love St Paul's, very old school . If they retuned them to Simpson tuning I would be horrified, they are the distinctive sound of London, victory over Hilter etc. I love Bow, my dad hung them. If that had been a 41 cat Taylor peal the tenors would be much louder and longer sustain.
@@Steven_Rowe and Wigan All Saints are even better than Pier Head IMO a truly exceptional ring of 10 bells rung them a few times
treble and 3rd are samuel smith the 3rd is the oldest bell 2nd is john taylor bellfounders 4th 5th and tenor 14-0-20cwts john taylor
Simon Edwards beat ypu to it. How fantastic are the Howden 8
They are definitely on the peal list!
Loved ringing at Howden! One of the best towers of tour!
@@RingerThomas a peal would be a joy to ring and listen to. These are just harmonic gems.
@ar_ringingvideos7428 is Simon living in York now. The Minster to me are simply the best sounding ring of bells in the world. Those tenors have so much sustain and that wonderful pre war Taylor drone. There are loads of great towers, Skipton and Westbury , also Tadcaster to name a few of bells that just have such great harmonic character.
@RingerThomas so what would you ring. I love Stedman although it sounds much better on a heavy 10 or 12. I think some Surprise Major would be good, either spliced or a single method. I like London, also Rutland, but any would be OK.
Its look like a sound in roblox tenor bell
Sound a bit like Filey.
WOW😮😮
its not to loud , the louder the better for me !!
SAMEE
Can't say that I think very much of Walworth - they're great for what they are, but they're just too light for an eight to me.
There should be some bells at St Stephen Walbrook, it's a tower that's missing in the city. St Bride's Fleet Street too.

The tenor at Maidstone always goes up wrong and i am wondering if with 3 hefty Devon ringers they made naged to get it up right?
