The great thing I like is that every container of eggs are marked with an expiration date. That way you know how long that container will last you.
Yes very true!
Eggs are still good for 2-3 weeks after the date.
@@OhJodi69 thanks for the info. I'm sure that's true , but the expiration date on the container is for a very long time, and they'll be used up before then.
Great tips I knew you could freeze them, but I completely forgot all about it. I just bought a dozen eggs for 4.23 and I’m really trying to have them last a month
That's awesome!
With the ridiculous cost of eggs, any advice towards making eggs last longer is definitely appreciated. Many thanks, Janet. Stay safe, warm and well. The same for your family and viewers.
Thanks for the kind words!
Thank you for the storage info, Jan. I am trying to make the eggs go further by making French toast, pancakes and even a one egg cake such as gingerbread.
Love this! Very smart!
Good morning Jan, Great egg tips! Never realized they had a pointy -ish end until you said it and I immediately realized it was true. Interesting! I have been getting my eggs at walmart....5 dozen for just under 22.00. Gulp! That lasts us a month. They are becoming an investment these days, but a great protein source and so versatile. One of those things most of us must buy. Have a wonderful day!❤❤❤
You too Gail! TY ❤
Happy Sunday ! I haven’t been eating eggs, for probably a few months. All of a sudden , I was craving eggs yesterday. Instead of cooking fresh eggs, I remembered I had fried some eggs & frozen them. The frozen , fried eggs, weren’t bad, reheated . I topped them with/ cheese & had a good source of protein . Thanks for the tips on freezing raw eggs! I have been baking lately, with recipes that call for no eggs or less eggs. The yeast free bread recipe, I make, uses no eggs & the bread rises due to baking powder . The recipe calls for milk , but I use 1/2 water, 1/2 milk. It calls for 1/4 C oil, which isn’t too bad …. But , the price of oil, is expensive too. I appreciate your channel . Like you say, where there’s a will there’s a way , & we have to get creative !!! We have to put our brains together & help each other , w/ these money saving tips . ❤
Very creative!
Great Tips. Thanks Ms. Jan
You're most welcome Kevin!
Great tips, as usual, Jan! Especially about "hidden eggs". I like to actually eat eggs, so I'm trying not to use them so much in batters, baked goods, etc. And I had to laugh about the eggs sticking to the pan.......I did that the other day, stuck two eggs to a stainless steel pan, because I forgot it would need more oil than nonstick. Store eggs on the bottom shelf of the fridge, where it's coldest. ALSO......of course check each egg in the carton before you buy it, but ALSO check again as soon as you get home. If you cracked one, go ahead and cook it, then if you don't feel like eating it, then, put it in the fridge. For baking, you can replace one egg with one teaspoon of Baking POWDER. I've done this, it works great, however don't use it if the recipe calls for only one egg. If you need two eggs for it, sub the baking powder for one of them. Otherwise, with no egg, the muffin, cake, etc, doesn't seem to hold together. (Didn't stop me from eating it, though!) I love eggs. I will continue to buy them. I believe they are one of the most perfect, healthy foods. But I'm being much more careful with them. I'm single, and can still thankfully afford them (I trimmed my grocery spending other ways), but I feel so bad for people with families.
You’re so right about that!
You guys are awesome. This is a great video. I’m thinking about doing a garage sale, but I don’t know if I can hold onto to clutter until May. Maybe I’ll just try to sell on Facebook marketplace I need to get stuff out of my house.
That's a fantastic idea! Go for it! TY for kind words!
I'm not into reselling, but it was interesting. We all make mistakes, at some point in our business.
It was a better time for that other platform IMHO
A really good topic, I bet lots of people are intimidated to try those platforms. Folks like myself, but now I will give it a go.
That's very cool
Hi Jan I use all free and clear pods from Sam's club I pod per load 120 pods last at least 6 months as far as washing clothes I wear scrubs at work they get washed everyday my regular clothes nope I hang them 😊😊
Sounds like a super deal!
👋 you two im just enjoying your video ❤❤
So glad you’re enjoying it! ❤
Hello Ms. Jan and Mr. Steve.
Hi Kevin!
Hi again, Janet. Sometimes, during the warmer weather months, I go to laundromat to save wear/tear on my washing machine. When the roads are snowy, slippery and choaked with road salt, I use the washing machine at the house. I always wash a full load over half loads. I'm very fortunate to have outside clothes lines. Thanks, Janet. Stay safe, warm and well. Likewise, for your family and viewers.
Best to your lovely family as well.
@@janfromnycsavesmoney8723 Many thanks! 😸👍🙏
For most sweaters, I use a lanolin based liquid soap that doesn't have to be rinsed out. Does wonders for wool or part wool things and polyesters, etc. Let air dry. My sweaters look new SO much longer now. And great ideas, thanks!
Oh, and for washing bras out too!!!
This sounds GREAT!!! TFS!
I have made my own laundry detergent in the past, and it was a disaster. It did not clean any of the clothing. I ended up using so much because I wanted to get the clothes clean. I find if you just use a little bit of good brand, laundry soapit goes a long way like I have one laundry soap that’s last me the entire year.
Arm and Hammer and Gaines, Tide etc
Happy Saturday ! ☕️😀
Happy Saturday to you too!
Happy Saturday.
Happy Saturday to you as well!
Great laundry ideas , I use Gain detergent , and I don't have to use that much. 🧺
It's so good!
Thanks!
GM Downtown! Thanks ever so much for this generous Super Thanks! You are so kind and I truly appreciate you! Have a Blessed Day and great brand new month! ❤
Good Morning 🌄 Jan! This is a subject near and dear to my heart. I only use detergent if the clothing is heavily soiled, Or new to the house. You are correct that the agitation is what does the majority of the cleaning. The detergent I do use is dilute 1:1 with water. I save the jugs to store the diluted detergent and I mark 0.5 on the jug with a sharpie to denote that it's been diluted. I use One tablespoon of detergent. Too much detergent is hard on the clothes and the washing machine. I only wash with cold water. I only hang dry. I have clothes lines in an area of my basement. In another area I have dowels for hanging using clothes hangers, And two wooden drying racks. I never run a dryer. I can make my own detergent as well using washing soda, borax, And castile soap. There are how to videos here on UA-cam to make liquid and powder detergents. If you must use a dryer and you want soft clothes crumble up a ball of aluminum foil, And throw it in the dryer with the clothes instead of a dryer sheet. One aluminum ball lasts about a year. Thank You Jan for bringing this discussion of clothes maintenance, And educating us on ways to lower the cost. I will be watching the comments to see if I can pick up more tips. God Bless You and yours.
Wow to these addition and educational tips! Thanks so very much for your specific tips!! We can surely use them! ❤
I have been waiting for you to make this video. Zote soap is amazing! Two dollars to buy this bar. You shred half of the bar and just add 5 quarts of water. Boil it until it dissolves let it cool. I can get 150 loads out of half a bar. I will be using your ideas. Thank you
I’ve heard great things about that soap! TFS this Olivia!
I have got to try this, thanks!
Great ideas, Jan!! And easy to do. Thanks 😊
Glad you like them!
I love the idea of angel hair with the sauce and mushrooms. Angel hair pasta is my absolute favorite.
It is so good!
Just an idea, sprouting 'salad blend' sprouting seeds to add greens instead of those expensive salad makings at the grocery store (and lately not so safe many times) A piece of bread, a couple slices of cheese, and/or bacon, or lunch meat, or left over other meat with some of those sprouted salad is almost gourmet.
Love that idea!
Thank Jan and other people who put their ideas up here. No one can think of all these great ideas!
Thank you too! ❤
Daily mail is not a problem for me. On the short walk to the mailbox, I go through it on my way back. ANYTHING sales related, geezer mail, junk mail, goes immediately into a recycling box in the garage. My problem is my overflowing file cabinet - because I’m not sure what to declutter and what to keep, and for how long! And I HATE filing! It’s always a ‘big project’ that I keep procrastinating.😵💫
Good point about files, etc!
We used to have English muffin pizza burgers at school when I was a kid. I would love to find a recipe for that.
I love those!
I just made a ground chicken meatloaf as I can't eat beef. It's tasty and will last me a few days
Sounds so good!
The mail is always a thing. Great point. ❤
It is! 😩
Good ideas ! Enjoy your pasta & light marinara ! Have a blessed Friday ! 🥰
You too! TY
Hi Janet. Sometimes, I try to "bulk up" my breakfast with hashbrowns or fried sliced up potatoes ("hobo fries"). Soup and a turkey/Swiss cheese sandwich is always a good and simply meal for lunch. Possibly, add a tossed salad with that soup/sandwich combo. Thanks, Janet. Stay safe, warm and well. Likewise for your family and viewers. Chow and ciao -- W

I need to work on paper clutter. Sometimes I keep it for too long, and it starts to build up.
You and me both!
Pizza is .y favorite anytime!!❤❤❤
Never fails to please!!
Yes , I love that pasta dish. 🍝
It's so good!
I believe that paper clutter sneaks into my house during the night while i am sleeping!😊 About once a month i sort through and toss what i dont want and file away what i want to keep. ❤❤❤
It does seem to multiply! 😄 Lol
So true , I even like organizing my things , for me it's fun.
It really is!
I love these quick low cost heal ideas! Please keep 'em comin'! I am taking notes here! Last night we had beans and hot dogs and jiffy cornbread. I fried the hotdogs and cut it up, then into the beans. I wouldn't care to have it everyday, but once or twice a month is tasty! Thanks Jan ❤❤❤
That sounds so good!
Hello Jan, I remember a job that I was laid off from. Like you I had a severance package. The whole operation was shut down. God blessed me, I had another job waiting, and I didn't miss a day of work. I banked the severance money and kept pushing. I learned that nothing is promised, And I am responsible for my well being. Thank You Jan for reminding us that we need to have contingency plans for wiggle room. God Bless You and yours.
God bless You too and so glad things worked out for you because you were ready.
I know this feeling well it is terrible. My company just started doing RIFs yesterday reduction in force. I am very nervous for myself could get news today or next week. Only decent thing is they keep you on payroll for 45 days then a severance payout.
Sorry to hear that Prayers it all works out. ❤
Guilty!! But each day I”m finding things to donate to our local Library. They sell items on a few tables to raise funds. Win for me and Win for them!!❤
That's so cool!
Great point Jan. I like my routines. They feel comfortable and safe. Most become routines because I have tried other ways and found what works best for me. Have a good wkend and do stay warm!❤❤❤
Love that! They work!
Same here....but I know I need to get a better routine improvement.....work in progress...LOL
Happy Friday
You too Kevin!
Great advice (as usual). Thanks, Janet! Be safe and well.
Thank you! Will do!

Crock pot hamburger vegetable soup. It wouldn't cost me anything because I have everything in my pantry.
Love it!
So far this year I have donated many small appliances. I really didn't need 3 crock pots. My Instant Pot can do that. And just saying I loved the music.
That's great!
We have yearly garage sales. It's always the same thing. I see something I put in the sale and then take it out and set it aside. Every time. Or the I'm keeping these clothes if I don't lose weight then I will sell them and the clothes are still in my closet! Have a great night 🌙
Very cool
We had two pizzas delivered and it was $70 😱
Oh noooooo
Boy I know what you mean!
Yes! ❤
