Chicken & rice, grilled cheese & tomato soup, lentil soup & homemade bread, crockpot of pinto beans & cornbread , fried peanut butter & banana sandwich, etc … ! Now you really have me thinking , of all the options ! 😆You are SO right, about hanging on to the money & finding leftovers or extra pantry/ fridge/ freezer, items! Soups & stir fry’s , casseroles, etc . GREAT video, Jan !!! 🥰💗
Great video. At our home we would have some warmed up plain rice topped with drained canned chicken some cooked veggies and bread with butter, or just some from scratch pancakes with warmed up canned fruit. These are the items I try to always have in our pantry. At the dollar store by us they have a little box of 2 cheese sauces, perfect to use half a pouch on some buttered noodles. A can of chicken makes a meal feel planned and not poor. Add a package of jiffy corn muffin mix, make it with water and your meal is a comfort meal. If you have jello or pudding mix (use powdered or shelf milk to make pudding) for a quick dessert, kids will never know you put together a struggle meal
I make a really cheap meal. I would do navy beans a can of tomato sauce and some ground turkey or beef which ever is cheaper. Throw it all together and it’s so delicious.
I was on line at DT behind a man who was buying up cans of tomato and chicken noodle soup. A couple directly behind him mentioned the quantity out loud laughingly and he said that he loves to offer visitors to his house a bowl of soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. Who would resist. I bet nobody ever leaves his house hungry❤
Gave away much of my food for health issue so those people could eat for free or low cost :-) I eat whole, real foods with protein at every meal. Bound to be some rice, sweet potato, or tortilla on hand and some protein bought on sale. I'd buy some fresh veggies to make a stir fry, or as a side. And some bananas to whip into "nice cream" which I recently fell in love with. No eggs for $5 here. Warm cup of tea and cozy blanket and a good show when it's cold.
I just got a GREAT deal.....12 cans of jellied cranberry sauce for just 25cents a piece...$3! Now other than save them for next year...goodness, what can I do with them??????
Jelly cranberry oatmeal bar cookies. Cranberry slow cooker chicken. Cranberry slices with turkey/Chicken on sandwiches. Mixed with ground meat as meatballs in slow cooker. Just Google jelly cranberry recipe
@@karentaylor6262 Thanks! I did google jellied cranberry sauce....only one recipe for cookies with cranberries instead of date filling....the rest were for canned cranberry sauce only.
Spaghetti with garlic bread and green beans or beans and rice and cornbread
Super simple and delicious! TFS! Yum
Bean soup
Your baked potato idea, is great too! Could add some chili to the potato or get creative with stuffing .
Yes, you're right! So many options!

Probably peanut butter and jelly sandwiches would be my first choice , especially if I already had the jelly. 🥜🍇🍞

Lol oh wow!
Mac and Cheese (box kind), side of spinach, and fruit. This I could make out of my pantry and freezer. I think this could be done by shopping also.
That sounds super simple and affordable!

Crock pot hamburger vegetable soup. It wouldn't cost me anything because I have everything in my pantry.
Love it!
