A larger 1-gallon tank is available as an optional upgrade which can get you about 140-150 miles nonstop. We do not sell the larger tanks you would have to purchase it somewhere else or have one custom-made for your bike. We do have rear-mounted tanks also. Check out al...

    • @BicycleEngines
      @BicycleEngines Місяць тому

      There are two main types of piston a low hole and a high hole. If you try to use the wrong combination of connecting rod such as a long connecting rod with a short full distance it's going to hit the head. Confirm you have the correct piston with the correct bottom end and if still the problem persists maybe check the bottom gaskets

    I had to take mine to a bike shop to get installed, I found installing the fork too complicated. Rear brake disc came bent for me and some damage to the kickstand. I would suggest anyone trying to buy one of these bikes to just buy the frame and build it from there as shipping all these parts together results in them coming damaged from mishandling.

    How do you take the engine apart if you ordered pre-assembled, but want to grease the piston to be sure? Can u just pull it off? or will tht break the piston rings?

    • @BicycleEngines
      @BicycleEngines 3 місяці тому

      You can remove the top end from the bottom end as many times as needed for repair or gasket change out. You will just have to torque the acron nuts again putting it back together. We always grease the piston before assembling it here in our warehouse. Just becareful you can tear the gasket by taking it apart. Here is the instructions from our website if you want them. www.bicycle-engines.com/product_images/uploaded_images/Cylinder-Assembly-Instructions.pdf

    Man I have been really critical over the beta testing that has been done using unwilling customers for V1 & V2, and I stand where I believe it was a quick cash grab that took advantage of our desire to get something with good performance at a value. Trying to build up something that runs this strong out of the box is going to cost us a lot more than actually purchasing one of these ready to rock and roll. However... I am willing to admit, they have been extremely quick to release the next version of the phantom with actual updates that should eliminate or decrease the issue which was causing failure. I don't know the details of warranty work for any of the poor guys who dumped a chunk of change into a full kit one of these, they probably got zero, but I don't communicate with anyone that may have been through the process. If they were totally honorable, they would send a cylinder with needle bearings or whatever has brought them to this point. Yeah it would be a tough position for Phantom, but they are the one's that released the not ready engines to start with!! The customer should be the one protected and if they know anything about retailing they would know that people are ten times more likely to complain about something they see as a negative than a positive. Replacing cylinders for customers that could verify the v1 or V2 purchase who reported a failure would go hundreds of miles in the right direction of the company. I'm not as plugged in to the details of all this issue and what people's experiences have been in totality, but I just get irritated beyond belief when I hear about people losing money on something that was obviously poorly executed. Really all that however to say that I am glad that phantom has had the guts to update and resell the New versions as themselves and not just disappear and come back as another company or something. I'm not even sure how many of the older kits are still going, but I've gathered the failure rates were ridiculously high. I have never used the phantom but was excited about it's release until I started hearing of the problems. Initially I was totally against trying the V3, but after consideration that they stuck it out and are still trying, I may have to get a kit and give it a try. 😂😂😂, I have been on the fence for a couple days, as I don't have money to burn. I'm building a little minerelli however for a bike I want to be a road Slayer right now and it's going to take me some time to get all the funding inline to complete what I want to do properly. I may get a V3 and mount it first before I have the engine completed. One of my goals with the build is to create a really solid chassis that can easily withstand higher MPH without a sweat. The only thing is that the engines I have are not adequate to put my frame to that test TBH. Oh well, maybe I'll do it and won't wind up feeling like a sucker 😂😂. Thankfully I do this with a lot of my purchases... It's easy to pile up parts in the shopping cart and wind up spending money you don't have to, ya know? Thanks Alex for the honest and uplifting review. These things are good for Gas mileage, but if they aren't FUN.... What is the point.

      Hello, thank you for sharing your opinion on the course of events since the initial release of our Phantom 85 engine. However, there are a few things we would like to clarify for you to give you a more well-rounded and understanding perspective as some of the information you assumed is incorrect. Yes, there were some initial problems with the V1. It was unexpected, as we had been under the impression that they were tested and ready to go, from our manufacturing partner. Please keep in mind that the phantom 85 is the very first true 85 cc engine. The idea and design had not ever been done before; we were the first. It was in the works for years before it was ready to be produced. Now it is to be expected that some information can be lost in translation when two companies are based in different countries and speak different languages. So, the bushings were not up to par, they were disintegrating, and we did rectify that with the customers that purchased that first version and sent a replacement bushing, that was made from a stronger metal to everyone. And it worked! The upgraded Bushing fixed the issue for the V1 Phantom. Now we did some research on the differences and benefits of a needle bearing vs. a bushing and decided that the bearing was the better option. So, the V2 came out with that specific upgrade. A few months after the V2 was release it came to our attention that SOME of the pistons had piston ring pins that were placed to wide and were snagging on the intake and exhaust ports, which were also too big. When we discovered this issue, we started working with the manufacturer immediately to get the issue fixed and that fix leads us to the release of the V3 that is currently on the market. But until we could get them delivered to our warehouse, we had to make the best of what we had. Since not all or the pistons and cylinders were affected, we had to weed out and pull all the ones that had the defect. So, one of our customer service representatives spent days to weeks going through the remaining stock of cylinders, that we had stopped selling, and personally measured each one to make sure that the pins were not too wide and that the ports were not too big so that the likelihood of a ring snag was next to Zero. Then we used the one determined not to have the defect for warranties until we finally got the current version, the V3. So, you see we were never beta testing anything on anyone. It was merely human/manufacturing errors that caused our journey, as the very first company with a true 85 cc engine, to be a bit rocky. Being that you say you have not purchased one or had to go through the warranty process, it is unfair and uncalled for, for you to assume that we did not do what we could to make sure our customers got what they paid for. However, these engines do require a very specific break in process, and it must be at least 310 miles of break in procedures for the engines to be fully functional. If it happened to be found that the break in is not followed to the letter, we would have made one acceptation, sent out a replacement and told them how to fix their break in, in the beginning of the fiasco. After the news of the defect was out there for a certain time, if break in is not followed to the letter and the motor fails, it is impossible for us to tell if the failure was caused by defect or by the error/misuse of the rider. So, we must default to user error. I hope all this information gives you a clearer understanding of how this all occurred and the fact that you are wrong to make assumptions when you don’t have the engine that you’re commenting on. It is also not right to call into question the integrity of a business when you don’t have the knowledge of the policy or even the story in its entirety.

      We can never give a exact time frame on how long a motor will last. However, I do know a few of the guys that are on our Motorized bicycle group on FB that have a V1 Phantom that first came out and and still running strong after all these years. My guess if you maintain and treat it right it can last you years. Good luck on your build.

    Question if I have to attach my chain and bearing plus a small cylinder rod falls out how do I reinstall it?

      Good question! The ball goes in first then the pin. I add some grease while I'm in there. No trick just slides in. It goes in the little hole in middle of the drive gear. Just in case you are not sure.

    Soo no video showing how you install the sprocket, fuel kit etc on a regular bike? Youre selling engines but only advertise for your bike combo? Thats not very welcoming for new builders. :/

      Thanks so much for leaving a comment. So sorry for any confusion this video is a demonstration of how to assemble our screaming demon bicycle package. If you would like to learn more about our standard bicycle conversion kits you can see our manual section here. You can also email us and we can send you a brochure and instruction pamphlet! Hope to speak to you soon and thanks again.
