    Thanks for your review on this outstanding shotgun. Question: do you think that the rubber overlay on the grip, stock comb and forearm piece will hold up over time? I’m loving the bronze finish on some models, but the rubber is concerning. Thank you.

    I admittedly don't have much of a use for 3.5 inch shells but the fact a 3.5 inch gun has a higher pressure rating than 3 inch is what I like. I have some handloads that are 3 inch but tested slightly over pressure for 3 inch but under pressure for 3.5. I do like the Maxus from what I am hearing on the cycling front as well, we hunt crows and typically fire 1 1/8oz lead load which my cousin's gun has issues with.

    You're absolutely right about feeding the shells in this gun. It's as smooth as butter to load and unload them from the tube.

    My 30+ years shotgun opinion. I own and shoot a variety of different brands and action shotguns. I have an A400 EP and SBE3, both newer 2022 models. Hands down I love the A400, 100% shoots and hits better. It is bulky. I really want to love my SBE3 because it is slim and light for long distance hunting but it is the only shotgun i shoot fairly poor with wether I'm swing on birds or shooting stand still squirrels. On paper at 40yrds it shoots about 60/40 and a little to the left like what most shooters are saying. But I would say not enough to shoot poorly at game. I dont know for sure what the issue is with my SBE3. I might just keep it around because I'm not the seller type of guy on my guns. But so far Benelli is a disappointment for me. I think it will be very difficult to beat my A400 EP but I'm leaning on getting and trying out the Maxus 2 to challenge against my A400 and see which hype or truth holds true. I'm looking forward to the slimmer feel of the Maxus 2 but I still think overall design, features, and latest gadgets like oversize bolt, bolt release, and kickoff cannot surpass the A400. Guess I will find once I get one the Maxus 2. If anyone thinks another auto loader shotgun around the $2k price point is better than the A400 EP please I want to hear it? I'm just a regular gun lover and hunter who loves testing guns and ammo for that best combo and matchup.

      Thanks for the comment! I really wanted to like the SBE3 as well because of everything you listed. My dad has solely shot the H&K SBE1 since 1993 and it has performed flawlessly. I was looking for a shotgun that would withstand the abuse for 20+ years. The A400 is a great shotgun! It’s a little bulky for my liking, but it’s reliable. You’ll like the Maxus 2, the slim design just feels good. It shoulders and points very well and it hits what you’re pointing at. My only complaint in the rubber over mold on the fore end that has started to separate. I talked to Browning about it last year and they’re trying to find a better bonding agent that holds the rubber to the plastic. But they were willing to send me a new fore end if I wanted. Other than that, it has been a great shotgun for me.

      That's what I've been hearing about the SBEs, so sounds to me like the quality has dipped over the years and with newer models. They better turn around or people will be leaning towards other brands of shotguns. Talk about a shotgun that my dad used to use since the 90s and now I do and is still very reliable for what its worth from its time, the good old Remington 11-87 auto. Since my dad's usage and now my heavy usage I have only had to replaced the ejector. It has seen up to a thousand rounds per season for doves. So again for what it is with no great nuisances like with modern day shotguns, that I can almost say is an excellent shotgun similar to your dad's SEB1. Since we're both on very similar experiences here let me also say that I seemed to have better performance and patterns with 30" guns. I wish the Maxus 2 camo or wicked wing come in a 30" barrel but it does not. Since it doesn't I'm leaning towards the sporting carbon fiber model. I rather have an all camo but...Talk about the rubber peeling off thats a concern,.come on Browning! I love Browning rifles, owned a stalker model with its teflon rubberized forend and butt stock and now its all a gluey mess! I heard from reads that Browning is aware of this and is willing to change out the stock but because my gun has sooo much luck in the woods I am willing to deal with the gluey mess, at least for now. I have other same experiences with things that are made from modern rubber materials, from guns to rods. I also worry about the ones on my A400 as well, only time will tell. BTW I live in CA (too, pass tense for you since I saw one of your comments stated you moved out of state, don't blame you) and I hate so much their ban on lead, it's ridiculous! I also love Kick chokes but their extra full seemed to be too tight that deforms the pattern out on my gun. But their M and F are outstanding for my guns. I am also still testing out other highly stated chokes like Carlson’s and Muller’s to see which is best for each gun.

      @@publiclandwaterfowlerJust an update, I did ended up getting the maxus 2 in the carbon option because I wanted the longer barrel for a particular purpose. I pick it up the Friday before the closing of quail season. Took it out to test it out it and so far I love it. Went through a box of shells. I love the way it swings and feels. Its not as bulky like my A400 and not as slim as my SBE3. You are right its between the two. Need to shoot more and with high brass to really know how it is compared to my A400 but so far surpasses my SBE3 in feel and POI. Looking forward to 2024 season with new toys and see how they are.

    I’ve got a sbe3. Mine shoots high. It’s been absolutely flawless. Never jammed. Feeds everything I throw in it. With that being said, it’s now my backup shotgun. I got a maxus 2. Love my maxus 2 but man it kicks me in the face more than any shotgun I’ve owned. Other than that it’s a great shotgun.

    Have you used it in single digit temperatures? Here in upstate NY (not too far from Lake Ontario) we all have New Model Browning A-5's and SBE's because most gas operated guns won't cycle in very cold weather. Inertia guns go bang every time, even when covered with ice or snow. If I hunted in a warmer climate, I'd get the Maxus and I'm sure I'd be happy. Good video. Thank you

    Hey man, if you have time can you share some input? First, what camera are you using on the shotgun? That's pretty awesome footage getting to track the dot vs the bird. Also I just bought the maxus 2 wicked wing in 3 inch chamber. Never have any reason to run 3.5 inch here in Georgia. Probably around 60% of my time will go to dove. 30% duck. 10% shared over clay, geese, turkey and other. I know I'll (if I can) run low brass and low steel occasionally. So I went with 3 inch chamber for maybe a bit more cycling reliability. High brass and high speed shot gets pretty clostly for me to shoot clay and even dove at times. So anyways, what's your thoughts on your maxus 2 so far? I compared maxus 2 vs SBE2 and SBE3 vs a400 vs a300 vs SX3 ans SX4. They all felt good in the store. But ultimately I settled on the Maxus 2. Thanks for your time!

      Thanks for the comment man. The gun camera is a ShotKam. It’s a bit pricey, but from a training perspective, it’s a great tool. The settings on the camera allow you to slow down the playback speed and you can tell exactly where your pattern is compared to lead. The Maxus 2 has been a phenomenal shotgun for me. I shoot the 3 1/2 inch chambered model, and even with a longer bolt, it has zero issues cycling low brass shells.

    • @tt01388
      @tt01388 8 місяців тому

      @publiclandwaterfowler Whew! I just looked up that camera and yeah, it is pricey. But when you have a benefit or need for something, it can definitely come at a cost. I'll keep it on my radar. That's awesome to hear on the maxus. I'm eager to get mine in. I've ran only pumps my entire life just because of reliably and the easy access and lower cost of low brass. So many affordable semi autos that I've been around just won't cycle them. The maxus will be my first semi auto. I am taking it to the field and lowlands over the next 2 months. Very excited. Thank you for taking the time to reply and give the feedback!

    I have a sbe3 best model and I haven’t had any cycling issues. It did pattern high tho which I shimmed it as low as I could which got me down to a 80/20 but the only problem I’ve had is with my carbon rail. Lost the bead first day of duck season and had to finish it with running the small back up pin. Had to wait 6 months for the front sight to get in from across seas. Finally received it and lock tight it and blew it back out in 3 shots had to send in barrel in at the end of this August and they put a new carbon fiber rail and sight on and got it back 1 week before early teal and haven’t had anymore issues with it as of now. But I can say when you pay good money for something that doesn’t out perform the other guns available and run in to little issues is a problem for me. After all that’s why I paid 2200 to not be in that boat. I think I will use this for another season after this year and see if they make any changes within the sbe model before stepping into beretta. That’s whats has my attention at this moment. Also im old school and not a fan of floating birds but I’ve adapted to it.

    Great video, you made some long ass shots with that steel. My 12 year old son and I have settled on 7/8oz of #6 steel , modified choke out of our 20 gauges. I load them and they are about 1275fps, not the best but they are never out of stock. Still looking for a powder that will safely get me to 1400fps. Speed seems to be the key with the steel shot. The Federal upland 12g 7's at 1500fps seem to do a decent job but I still am not a fan of this steel shot.

I took the gun apart notice that the firing pin retaining pin was not seated that was not good then it worked fine for a while after that I went back out in the field shot another half a box start jamming again this time I noticed the shells were getting stuck getting from the magazine tube to the carrier so I oiled the magazine tube and follower and it worked very well I should never have to do that so now all I have to do is think about that while I’m hunting I am not a happy camper.
