    I have the maxus 2 wicked wings version and love it. I just about bought the Beretta but I agree it felt bulky. I had the Maxus 1 and it was very reliable but the 2 is so much better all the way around.

    You're absolutely right about feeding the shells in this gun. It's as smooth as butter to load and unload them from the tube.

    I used to duck a hunt a while ago. Decided to sell my older browning gold hunter and O/U last year. Going to pickup a browning maxis II in about two weeks. I’m looking forward to your new videos.

    As a gas driven action the Browning Maxus 2 is unequivocally the best designed shotgun. The SX4 Winchester uses the same action and their Hybrid Model is cerakote receiver and barrel is the economy model for around $750. And it has speed load from the magazine too.

      I think the Fabarm XLR5 has a better designed piston, but not many people in the US know about them. But the Maxus/SX4 is a pretty nice design as well.

      @@ncsmooth22 I do! I have the XLR5 Waterfowler and absolutely love it. Very high quality materials/machining, incredibly simple piston to take apart/clean. Really nice quality factory chokes. Soft shooting and reliable. What do you want to know about it?

    I admittedly don't have much of a use for 3.5 inch shells but the fact a 3.5 inch gun has a higher pressure rating than 3 inch is what I like. I have some handloads that are 3 inch but tested slightly over pressure for 3 inch but under pressure for 3.5. I do like the Maxus from what I am hearing on the cycling front as well, we hunt crows and typically fire 1 1/8oz lead load which my cousin's gun has issues with.

    Thanks for your review on this outstanding shotgun. Question: do you think that the rubber overlay on the grip, stock comb and forearm piece will hold up over time? I’m loving the bronze finish on some models, but the rubber is concerning. Thank you.

    I have a maxus 2 and a SBE3. Shot the Benelli more than the maxus 2last year. This year I’ll be shooting the maxus 2. I’m the same way with my maxus. I love mine. And for once, I’m satisfied with the stock choke tubes that came with it plus they look cool. (I have the wicked wing version)

    Thanks for the video. I have been saving my nickels for a new Semi Auto 12. Been on the fence between this and the SBE 3. I liked how thin the fore end was on the SBE. Then I shouldered the Maxus 2. She felt nice too.Have not shot either before. Def like that these shoot 50/50. Thinking I am gonna pull the trigger on the Maxus 2. Wicked wing. Buy once, cry once :)

    Switched from a Benelli M2 to the Maxus 2 late in the season. I just could not get that Benelli to shoot like I wanted it. I love the 50/50 pattern of the Maxus. Did not get to shoot anything with it but I have spent some time at the range with it. Using a Kicks High Flyer Full it does good with several steel loads. I have a Kicks High Flyer X full and 2 cases of Boss for this coming season. Now if I can just find some ducks here in NC.

    I've owned a maxus 1 stalker since day 1 release more or less. Just purchased a Maxus 2 about three days ago and have yet to shoot it, hoping to line up some clays this weekend to make sure everything is good for the first duck day on October 1st (where I live) but I'll be bringing both guns for opening day.

    • @publiclandwaterfowler
      @publiclandwaterfowler  2 роки тому +1

      Very nice! The Maxus 1 is a great gun, the only thing that I didn’t care for was the square shaped forearm. I also didn’t like the fact that you couldn’t put an extension tube on it if you were chasing snows during the conversation season. I think you’ll love the Maxus 2.

      @@publiclandwaterfowler on the maxxis one that was never an issue for me in particular but I could see another areas where you needed more than three shots or were allowed to use more than three shots that this could be an issue.

      @@publiclandwaterfowler So I had a chance to take the Maxus 2 hunting and have cycled some rounds, cleaned the gun etc. I honestly have to say that I think I like my maxus 1 better than the maxus 2. Other than the duratouch recall (which I took care of myself because browning Canada has failed me) it's lighter, it seems to fit me better and just feels better when mounting it. I don't dislike the maxus 2 but I don't get the feeling of "ultra premium" like I did when I first shot the maxus 1. Also the maxus 2 went to a plastic tube assembly in the gas system and the maxus 1 had a metal sleeve that drives the bolt. This to me is a bad move and doesn't scream "premium". And the maxus 2 is heavier still than the maxus 1 even after that. I do like that the 2 comes with a fiber optic sight from the factory, but the recoil pad on the maxus 1 is better imo.

      @publiclandwaterfowler  Рік тому +1

      @@TheIceMan9304 thanks for the feedback! The Maxus 1 is a great gun, the only think I didn’t like about it was the squared shape of the forend and the lack of a magazine cap. But that’s just personal preference. I’ll keep everyone updated on how the Maxus 2 is holding up after this next season.

  • @collinwilliams9510

    How has the finish held up on that one as well? I've seen a video of where one dudes was starting to come off or it wasn't coated right and rusted after a year

    • @publiclandwaterfowler
      @publiclandwaterfowler  2 роки тому

      The Max5 finish has held up great, it feels almost rough to the touch. I’m not sure if it’s an extra coating or what, but I haven’t had any issues what so ever. I didn’t go with the Wicked Wings edition because I’ve heard there were problems with that finish.

    • @publiclandwaterfowler
      @publiclandwaterfowler  2 роки тому

      You can’t go wrong with either one.. I prefer the Maxus 2 because it has a slimmer frame and I’m used to the safety being behind the trigger instead of up front like the Beretta.

      Can’t go wrong with the Maxus 2. I think the new Comfort Tech design that Benelli came out with has a lot to do with why their new shotguns are shooting abnormally high. Thanks for the comment!

    Have you used it in single digit temperatures? Here in upstate NY (not too far from Lake Ontario) we all have New Model Browning A-5's and SBE's because most gas operated guns won't cycle in very cold weather. Inertia guns go bang every time, even when covered with ice or snow. If I hunted in a warmer climate, I'd get the Maxus and I'm sure I'd be happy. Good video. Thank you

Only one guy shoots an old Golden clays browning and shoots it well. @@publiclandwaterfowler with the receiver as part of the sighting plane a 26 inch barrel has a 34 inch sighting plane. The extra couple ounce weight of your 28 inch model may help you swing thru though. An extended choke on a 26 inch barrel makes it like a 28 inch model without an extended choke.

      Something you might try. Water can get in the butt stock and rust the rod that is in the butt stock. Just get a drill and go to the recoil pad attach area and drill a drainage hole underside the plastic stock. Mossberg does this on their gas operated shotguns and it is a good idea.
