Cub Cadet 782 Clean up
Переглядів 215Рік тому
In this video we have the mighty KT-17 waking up after a several year hiatus. This motor was rebuilt with new rods, rings, bearings, governor gear and gasket set many years ago. We ran into a problem with the starter coming loose and a fuel pump starting to fail, by leaking into the engine, which was never repaired prior to being put away. We replaced the mechanical fuel pump and installed lock...

Farmall H pulling jack pines out
Переглядів 3183 роки тому
The H is on duty this afternoon pulling out jack pines in a new piece of ground that a friend of mine started farming last summer. Wife wanted to know if I needed help so I convinced her to climb up and drive the tractor. Her first time running a clutch and she did great! It left me on the ground to chain up trees and made the job much faster, even with her still learning. Best of all we got to...

Farmall H on the 8 foot Woods mower

After installing a stand pipe in the main fuel tank, I also went and retarded the timing just a bit as it was hard to start. So far so good now, a little less power but easy to start. Handled the woods with no problem.

Nice job lots of nutriants going back into your land all the green grass nitrogen
Looking for a little 2 bottom stubble plow.
Your videos are amazing! If you like farming or harvesting videos, I look forward to having you visit my channel to have relaxing moments together!
Would love to see how you set up and adjusted the plow. Also, how well the trip mechanism worked for lowering / raising the plow and the end of furrows.
The plow is poorly adjusted to be very honest. I need to center the line of draft to the center of the tractor for the best job. My draw bar is slide way too far to the land side and needs to be adjusted. My Dad used to pull 2-14's behind his M so I can't say I didn't come by it honestly 😂. As for the raising and lowering, it was very poor when I first started using it. I didn't know the springs needed tightening. Now that I purchased an owners manual and tightened the lift springs to spec, I don't skid the tire and it trips more consistently. Hope this helps!
Beautiful H, muffler and stack looks nice too nice and shiny
Sounds good with that muffler......it looks to be a ww-2 H with the steel shifting knob ?
Looks like a stainless muffler!!
Yes, it is. It's a Steiner stainless reproduction of a period correct muffler. It's pretty quite considering.
Too bad you didn't show us how you did it, that would have been nice.
what size is the left wheel our plow has the wrong one
The only tractor I have switched to an alternator is the tractor I plow snow with, because I wanted to added amps for lights. I really like the old Generators and Regulators for my other tractors. Plenty sufficient of a system and keeps the original look. Helps I am decently proficient at working on the generators and regulators.
Haven't had much luck giving advice. However the right (depth) lever (as we are looking at it could go up about 2 notches. And the left (leveling) leveling lever up about 4
just bought one of last 48 built h,s i,m one of last 48,s myself i bet the h will outlive me i used to have 2h 2m 1 450 1to30 mf 144mh those werev the days
What do u plant I know u have or had chickens what else do u have and how many acres you plant and with what?
0 acres and 0 animals. Just running some tillage for a friend.
What a nice looking and running Farmall H there isn't anything that sounds, pulls, drives like an H. Glad you have taken the time and pride in this tractor. Thanks for the ride!
That was the First plow i ran as a kid. 3-16 pulled by 44 Massey Harris! Wish I could find one?!!!!!
There out there. Just keep your eyes open.
@@fbh31118 i hear that. i am!!!!
Looks like 14s or 12s. Inch
Little Genius No. 8 with 2-16's. I would prefer 14's for most of the ground I work in but this was pretty sandy ground.
I'm telling you what that is music to my ears
Thank you! I love it too.
Amazing how nice a job that they do for how old they are
Brings back fond memories! My Dad bought a 1939 Farmall H with Little Genius 2-14 bottom plows along with a set of cultivators back in the early 50's from the local IH dealership. My older brother still has this equipment along with a International 45 baler.
I'm not that patient, I put a 10si alternator on and modernized the charging system on ours. I can't find decent 6volt batteries anymore.
My challenge was understanding what the correct parts were for the system and how to adjust the generator output. Works great now, just have to clean up my mess from learning.
That is a beautiful furrow wall.
Thanks AJ! Took a while to figure it out when I first got it.
Looks good, how are the reproduction tires holding up?
Was this H originally a kerosene model? Do you still run on kerosene or do you run it on gas?
This was originally a distillate tractor. I built this motor for gas but I saved the original pistons for a potential future distillate engine build. Thanks for asking !
you did an excellent job on the conversion to Gas Engine! is Distillate A form of kerosene? I’ve heard of it before but I did not know what it was!
@@rudycarlson8245 If gas is the highest octane and fuel oil (diesel) is the lowest, kerosene (K-1)is in the middle. Distillate would be between kerosene and diesel fuel. It was considered waste from the process of making gasoline and was sold as cheap tractor fuel.
@@fbh31118 thanks for the info!
You can get a free safety gas cap on the internet if you want it.
I need to get one for field work. This is a slightly modified version that deleted the hole in the middle of the cap but still let's the fuel run down the side of the tank. :-)
Sounds like that H has some lugging power. How do you like the stainless muffler?
It seems to work well. I'm sure it makes a little less power but it's pretty quiet considering.
Draw bar needs to be moved over one hole to the right as you set in tractor seat. The furrow wheel on the plow should be right next to the edge of the furrow. That plow shear is only taking 1/2 the normal cut.
U know that h will pull that plow in 4th gear and a lot deeper wouldnt
You are correct. Just making as long a video as possible. 😁
Man i love those m's
Thank you! This one is an H though.
@@fbh31118 oh ok cool, they still sound awesome
what model baler is that? i have a new Holland 268 hayliner and it works pretty well does need some work tho. the knotters work great.
That is my friends New Holland Hayliner, model 55 I believe
@@fbh31118 cool
I hate to say anything bad about an H , but do you suppose it made it up the hill?
Sure did but I wasn't pulling a wagon either.
@@fbh31118 Good to hear. Im in the engine of my 2nd H. The other ones my sprayer tractor. Ive get 5, I guess 6 Ms, 2 of em Lville Supers.
My buddy found a set of Massey wheel weights about to be scrapped and gave them to me. Way better use of the Firestones with ballast. My last video you can see them mounted on the tractor.
Looks great I just picked up a No.8 plow couple weekends ago can’t wait to see it behind my H
Sweet. Well done sir.
Runs real strong!!!
Love IH 4 cylinders. Never get tired of hearing their "music".😊
It was a day that was 40 years in the making. Never thought I would see the day, honestly.
@@fbh31118 I can relate. I've been working on my Cub Cadet 149 for several years,( not for 40...yet). Can't seem to get time AND money at the SAME time! Lord-willing, I'll see it done later THIS year.
Good luck on the 149, we've got a few Cubs too! Check out my last video running the brush cutter. Nearly wide open and you can hardly hear it running.
She sure sounds good! Like that stainless muffler as well.
I probably would have bought the steel muffler myself but this was a Christmas present.
@@fbh31118 That's a nice present!
I need a tail wheel just like that. Are they available? Thanks, Johnny
Are you looking for the tire, rim or the entire tail wheel assembly? Tires are available thru m.e. Miller tire company. All the other pieces like the rim and hard components can be sourced thru many IH Collectors or salvage yards.
@@fbh31118 I need a tail wheel that holds a pneumatic tire. I guess I was looking cross eyed at your video. Sorry.
I do believe that is Miss Connie driving.
Why yes it is.
Nice tractor 🚜
Thank you! It's my wifes machine. She wanted a tractor with hydro lift.
@@fbh31118 oh well I enjoyed ur video
What a smooth runner!
Thank you Kenny!
Nice, are those new firestones on the front? Remakes of the original. I am thinking about getting those too. Again nice!
Yes. Bought them through MEMiller tire. Even had to put new rims on. There was nothing to start with. Thank you for the kind words!
Sounds very strong. Very nice job, sir!
Thank you Kenny. Been a long time coming. Still have a few issues to work out yet but getting there!
I know how that is bud! All of mine still have a few "issues" I need to work out!
I was watching your video on the water pump and decided to tear mine down as opposed to replace, I still have a little drip though. I'm wondering if I should have purchased the CNH packing material. Also has a weird low pitch squeak. Might try and tighten up the packing a little more as I was not sure were to set it to begin with.
You could try tightening it, or add another row of packing to take up more space. I don't lose a drop with mine.
Looks like they are working well! Nice job!
Nice job Brian!
Thank you Steve. Been a long time coming.
Dang I love the old Cast Iron engines!
They run so much better when the valves actually seal. This was taken right after they had been replaced and lash set.
I'da laughed if you would have fallen off during the face making!!! Nice vid!
This is the first time fired after rebuilding. The engine lost a front seal and dropped a bunch of oil. After replacing the seal I added a remote filter kit which I installed incorrectly and destroyed another rod, this took place shortly after ending this video. After realizing my mistake I opened the motor back up and polished the journal back and replaced the rod that I messed up. I also elected to replace the oil pressure spring and ball which ended up putting the motor right at 50 psi of oil pressure and falls back to around 40 psi after coming up to full temp. I also added an oil pressure gauge to the dash and hooked it up with soft copper oil line. All in all a great (and drawn out) experience.
*edit* tip/leading edge on the plow share.
The notched coulter will help prevent the plow from coming out of the ground in hard soil. With the right adjustment to the moldboard, it should help to suck it in. Just make sure the tip on the plow isn't worn out. Will tend to want to lift out more if it is worn out/dull.
