In answer to the common criticism, why do you go to a concert and watch it from behind a screen, there is a simple answer, because I like it. Sure I miss some of the immediacy of the moment, but I also gain things that add to my enjoyment of the experience. There's the challenge and creativity involved in trying to catch that moment to the best of my ability and my limited resources. I know I'm never going to create professional quality footage but that's not the point. Above everything else it's to give me something to take away and relive in the years ahead.
If you own the copyright of any of the material on my channel and would like me to remove it, please contact me. I have removed a couple of videos but have had more of my footage used to enhance other videos. These have included Wreckless Eric, Midge Ure, The Damned (in one of the band's own music videos) and Kev Carmody (by SBS in a TV doco). Obviously, I'd prefer the latter to the former.

Imogen Clark - Sydney - November 14 2024
For the past six months Imogen Clark has been living in Nashville and by all accounts having a wonderful time. During that time, she also released her album, “The Art of Getting Through”, which although it had been recorded before she left Australia, she hadn’t performed here. This was her opportunity to officially introduce it to a sold out, hometown audience. As well as 11 songs from “The Art of Getting Through”, Imogen played five older songs, and one cover. I limited myself to recording six:
First Class Man (00:11)
High Tide (04:58)
Silhouette (09:55)
The Art of Getting Through (13:20)
Never This Time (17:12)
The Last of Me (21:13)
Imogen sounded great and her band of friends were spot on. The audience loved them. From my perspective of videoing, I was confronted with the dreaded red lights and sound levels which were a touch too loud for such a small venue. And of course, there’s that microphone that continually got in my way. However, none of that prevented me from thoroughly enjoying the night. Imogen is a great songwriter with a fabulous voice. I’m very glad I got this opportunity to see her with a band on this brief visit home. And I wish her all the best continuing her career in Nashville.

With the release of their first album, "Mayawa", Ripple Effect Band left their Top End community of Maningrida for a south-east tour of NSW and Victoria. This show wasn’t included in the offical tour. It was more of an intimate preview at Phoenix Central Park in Chippendale. Unfortunately, I didn’t have much luck with my random selection, recording only one song from the new album. The other th...

After supporting The Killers in 2022, Tim Rogers decided he needed to record some music which he could take on the road as Jack Ladder (sans The Dreamlanders). Thus “Tall Pop Syndrome”, his seventh album, came into being. It has a very different sound to his previous albums, being percussion and synth driven. At this Wollongong show, the synth side of things was handled by Billy Charles, which ...

It was a most engaging performance from French musician Ryder The Eagle on his first tour of Australia, supporting Jack Ladder. These two songs, “Autotango" (00:10) and “My Baby Girl’s Favourite Singer” (04:43), were early in the set and are very reserved by comparison to the later numbers. As the set progressed Ryder became more and more animated with many of the later songs taking place on th...

It was wonderful seeing Grace Petrie (and Ben Moss) back in Sydney with a new album, “Build Something Better”. She was in fine form, laughing and joking with the audience one moment, and giving impassioned pleas about the state of the world the next. And between them, Grace and Ben beautifully reproduced 13 songs, of which I recorded six: The Last Man on Earth (00:26) The House Always Wins (04:...

Ben Moss describes himself as “a folk singer rooted in the 21st century”. He’s also Grace Petrie’s ‘best friend’ and accompanist. Before Grace’s set he entertained us with a number of songs from his album, “Lost Lands”, and one new song. I recorded two songs, “The Nightingale (00:07)” and “Sturdy Oak (05:52)”. What I haven’t included here are any of Ben’s amusing introductions to his songs, exp...

Just a week ago Jack posted on social media that he had new music coming. He was in the studio recording his second album. This year’s State Theatre concert, Richard’s 15th, celebrated the re-releasing of three of his best albums, “Prussian Blue”, “Goodbye Tiger” and “The Great Escape”. And for me, that combination resulted in a sublime setlist. The first set featured the acoustic numbers. The second, the upbeat rock songs. I recorded five songs from each set (although I could have easily recorded many more): Get B...

It’s been over two years since I last saw King Stingray so when they announced a regional tour with a local gig I thought the time had come to see them again. I also thought it was time to see them up close from the barrier even though I knew I’d be sacrificing sound quality. And sure enough the vocals on my video have been buried beneath the instruments, but the rendering of Lewis Stiles’ drum...

Musician and surfer Colbey was one of two special guests on King Stingray’s Regional Tour 2024. Originally from the Northern Rivers region of NSW, he did his fair share of travelling before settling in Sydney, where he plays in the alt rock band Borneo. As a solo artist, he’s released two albums. This song, ‘Travelling Band’, is from his first album, ‘Brandon Street’, which was released in 2020.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of their third album “Dream It Down” Underground Lovers undertook a three date tour of the east coast capitals. As well as playing most of “Dream It Down”, there were five other songs, two of which were deep cuts. My sel...

Youth Group is another band which I’d never heard of before they were announced as support (in this case for Underground Lovers), and another band I’m now very pleased to know. A Sydney band, they’ve been around since the late 90’s and have released four albums. They’ve been a little quiet in recent years but apparently there is a new album on its way. Hugh Cornwell returned to Australia to play songs from his latest album, ‘Moments of Madness’, and a good selection of his earlier solo work, along with a few ‘nuggets’ from his time with The Stranglers thrown in. Thank you, that was wonderful ❤
Glad you enjoyed it. My video doesn't really do the event justice. It was life-affirming. Stephen touched us all. Thanks for commenting..
Sorry but Susan sounds terrible on DYWM. Thus, I'm wondering if all their choruses are prerecorded.
What are you comparing it to? A studio recording that was made over 40 years ago?
@@Peter_LiveMusic I'm comparing it to everyone that sings well.
@@jbw9999 As she's always been "just" a backing singer, I think your comparison is a little unfair. But thanks for your opinion.
@@Peter_LiveMusic Thanks for not being an offended "Human League can do no wrong" fan.
magnificent voice
This is fantastic. I had never heard of Jack Ladder, but I just watched him sing a duet with Sarah Blasko, what a voice. Down a rabbit hole I go :)
I too discovered Jack quite by chance and disappeared down his rabbit hole. That was a couple of years ago now. I've had the pleasure of seeing him live three times since, each time very different but always a wonderful experience. Yes, I watched his performance with Sarah Blasko who I also like very much. He'll be at her second Factory Theatre show in Sydney this Sunday. I'm not sure if as support or if they will be doing the duo together. Sadly, I won't be there. If you like this performance of Jack, you'll probably also like an earlier show I videoed. Some of the songs are the same but 'The Dreamlanders' are a different band, creating a significantly different live sound. ua-cam.com/video/DIGw4HCrDrI/v-deo.html Hope you continue to enjoy Jack. He definitely deserves more recognition. Thanks for commenting.
One of Australia's most Amazing Voices I've ever heard. Compared by many to Nick Cave. I'm 60 and adore them both. It's imho a very fair Comparison...
Enjoy the Rabbit hole it's Awesome.. A truly under discovered Australian Treasure 🏆🥇🪙
@@terrifiedtomatosauce1964 Yes, a great voice which needs more recognition.
Very Cool, Thankyou for this. Big Fan since early 1980's. Champions every one. Cheers

The Human League doesn't age
I was over the moon when China Crisis announced they were coming to little old New Zealand , in 1986 ? something came up so they had to cancelled.now living in Sydney 36ish years and 3 postponed concerts’due to covid Later , we were blest to see my first favourite band . Next big trip to England I will see them at home along with my other favourite band Depeche Mode.
I have been lucky enough to see them live a few times now, including being in the front row at many of them including one of the best - Garma 2023. They are amazing live.
Yes, a truly terrific live band. I've seen them a number of times too, including their first visit to Sydney as complete unknowns. That show blew me away as it did everyone in the audience. This is the closest I've ever been. The sound suffered but the excitement was electrifying. It would be great to see them in the Top End in front of a home crowd. Lucky you.

Good as! But fuck, I still miss the Jezabels!
I think most of us still miss The Jezabels. But I was very impressed with this very low key gig. Both Hayley and The Hurricanes sounded great (much better than in my video) and she is starting to get an impressive catalogue of solo material. Definitely worth catching live if you can (she is currently touring).
Some thoughts on comments here about Tim's voice - I put part of Tim's voice down to the fact this is live (I've never found live music to sound anything near the studio versions), the potential bad acoustics of the venue, whatever device this was recorded on (one would assume a phone these days, with a poor mic), and potentially a throat infection (he does seem to sip water a few times). Also, he sounds 100 times better here than I ever could. On his last 4 collaborative albums (all released since 2020) his voice is in fine form.
Yes, live recordings rarely sound as good as those made in a studio. Yes, the sound device used here is not professional but it is considerably better than a smart phone mic. While the venue's acoustics had been criticised in the past, since it's major renovations/upgrades, they are now world class (as they always should have been). I can assure you that his voice didn't live up to expectations/hopes on the night. Some people left after only a couple of songs. His voice issues may have partly been because prior to this tour he hadn't performed live in many years. He has since done several other shows which is a very good sign. I'm in no way passing judgement on this performance, just stating facts. After some initial readjustments, I thoroughly enjoyed the night. It was wonderful to see this giant of antipodal music again. However, I also think people need to be prepared that Tim's voice may not be what it was. In fact, to think there'd be no changes over almost 50 years would be rather naive. There are numerous reviews of this tour in both Australia and New Zealand cities online. Only one (Brisbane) makes a direct reference to Tim's voice. So perhaps you are right and he did have a sore throat for a couple of concerts. Thanks for your thoughts.

Man I wish I knw this band when they come to Wollongong. I woulda gone and watched them. Only found out about them a week ago. Totally bringing back that Aussie spirit of rock.
You missed a great night. They always put on a brilliant live show. Their new album is out next week. Get yourself to the Hordern March 21. You won't be sorry.
@@Peter_LiveMusic Yeah if my uni assignments aren't due that day, I'd go. I work near the Hordern.
i was amazed he still can reach high pitch voicing , its was good to hear songs from the Prussian Blue Album
I'm literally in my teens, but my dad was born in 1968, and they were his favourite band, still are, and they are now mine as well. It's my dream to go with my dad and see them LIVE one day 😃🥰 They still sound so good for singers/performers in their 50s and 60s! Absolutely amazing 😘
Yes, they still sound remarkably good considering how long they have been performing for. I hope your dream comes true and you and your dad get to see them live one day soon.👨👧 Thanks for commenting.

Loud - in the Dark - and the biggest bag of Weed I can find - just fly - they are brilliant
Vocal sounds better than I expected , seems to have some of the old bite back compared to other recent gigs .
It was a good night. Only slightly marred by a few people who only wanted to hear Stranglers' material. Hugh did his best to try and ignore them. He was in fine form. Hopefully he's still got a few more years of gigs left in him yet.
I love Susan and Joanne😍🤩😍🤩😍🤩
Peter, this is a great video, thanks for posting it. Front row videos generally look and sound horrible, they are too close. You have the entire band in view, and I hear a good coherent sound mix and not random stage noise.
I used to video from up front. You can get some terrific shots and there's a greater sense of immersion. But more often than not I was disappointed with the sound. Sometimes it was plain terrible. So now I usually video from further back, hunting out a place with the least interrupted view. I would definitely have liked to have been a little closer for this one but the Hordern was designed primarily for sporting events and there are no ideal sitting positions off the dance floor. Also it was reserved seating, and with intense demand, I was lucky to get a ticket at all. So overall, I am pleased with this footage. It was an incredible concert - a once in a lifetime event. I hope I've done it, the band and their music at least a little justice. Thanks for commenting.
I saw Grace on this tour at Leeds, here's a video I took of her performing Backstreet Boys' 1990s hit Everybody (Backstreet's Back). ua-cam.com/video/WPRkZEpqMsI/v-deo.html Seen her four times now; three playing music, once doing stand-up, and she bangs it out every time, guaranteed.

2025, as the video caption says! Are you a time traveller?
If you have nothing better to do than criticism things, at least get you whinging right. The date is 2023 on both the webpage and on the video. Sorry if you have a problem with the font but that's a different issue altogether.
@@Peter_LiveMusic Oh dear. Sounds like I’ve hit a nerve with you. It wasn’t a criticism, nor a whing. It was a genuine observation / enquiry, and not intended to offend you, or anyone in fact. Yes, I might have had a problem reading the font now you mention it. It did look like 2025 to me. I thought the video was excellent and most enjoyable for an amateur. I look forward to watching more, even if the font can be a little confusing. I will attempt to read your fonts more carefully in the future, laddie.
@@TheBeeryBoater Had you said some of that in your original comment my response wouldn't have been as harsh. It was your 'time traveller' question which triggered me. I don't mind criticisms regarding my uploads (hell, there are far from perfect) but I like them to be constructive. I get far too many trolls going on about the bands or my videos. Usually, I just delete them straight away. No time for the haters anymore. Anyway, thanks for the clarification. If you like Deacon Blue, you'll find a much longer video of them from 2019. It was taken from the front of the stage which means better visuals but a little sound distortion: ua-cam.com/video/3hxONhM6azA/v-deo.html Hope you enjoy it.

Neither Radio Birdman nor The Saints were happy about being labeled 'punk' but that didn't stop them being adopted by young Australian punks, particularly when initially there were so few other local bands to see live.
