Favorite Clips from Baja California Sur

At the beginning of 2024, we spent almost 3 months in Baja California Sur. While there we tried to enjoy it by not spending too much time trying to make videos of it all (a.k.a: WORKING). But of course, Tim can't be stopped and he shot a fair amount of video and decided to put this up to share with our subscribers and our family. So this is just a laid back look at some of our favorite visuals ...

HIKING UTAH - THE WEST RIM TRAIL at ZION NATIONAL PARK BEYOND ANGEL'S LANDING

We failed to get permits for the Angel's Landing Hike at Zion National Park in Utah, but it was a blessing in disguise as the West Rim Trail hike past Scout's Lookout (the beginning of the Angel's Landing hike) was spectacular and hardly anyone was there. It was so nice to see such natural beauty without the crowds. Check out EPIC WATER FILTERS at this link: timshannonltd.com/epicwaterfilters A...

this little trick saved me an expensive trip to the MB dealer just now. Thanks!
So glad to hear this - thanks for the feedback!
Thanks ! Lots of great ideas
You're welcome, glad you like them. Thanks for the comment!
I am going to use your back window hook idea for the dog harnesses!
Glad to hear it!
What a great idea! So simple to do. I will definitely make this for my Dodge Caravan. Thanks for sharing 😊
Sweet! Hope you enjoy it!
Thanks for this!
Our pleasure - glad you enjoyed it!
Just an idea for the step. You could install a truck step on the side of the van. Then you wouldn’t need that folding step stool. 12:23
Yep, that would work too! Thanks -
Missed opportunity….. put a hole in each of those over door braces and add S hooks… another two hooks to store things.
Yeah good idea - didn't think of that!
Hi Tim. What is the distance between the floor and the bottom of your bed to acomodate the bikes? Thank you. Rafal
We designed our bed so its lowest point was about 1/2 inch above the highest point on our bikes which was the seats. But later we replaced the seat posts (dropper posts) on our bikes and the newer ones don't go as high, so we now have about 3 inches of clearance between the seats and the bed frames. I think it's about 37 inches total, but I'm not positive, and I'm away from the van for a couple of days so I'll reply again to this comment if it's different, but I wanted to put this answer here now to let you know I read your comment.
Hi Tim. Thank you fot your help.
OK, I've just measured and it is 36-1/2" from the floor to the bottom of the bed frame, and it's 35-3/4" from the top of the bike sliding tray to the bottom of the bed frame. Hope this helps.
Thank you again. This will help me greatly. I'm starting converting next week. All the best for you.
If you avoid the nylock nuts with the plastic inserts in them, it'll make it easier to fit, as you'll have less friction that could turn the drop-in bolts out of position before they get tightened upto the rail. 🙂
Yeah good call. Thanks!
Awesome 💯 I want to do that drive
We would definitely encourage you to do it. It still remains (2 years later) one of the all time highlights of our van life experience. If we ever go back to Alaska, we'll do the Dalton again for sure.
Thanks Tim 👍 For any fellow viewers who like me, don’t have time to sit down and decipher 4 mins of rambling about unnecessary detail, skip to 4:21 😅👍
LOL I know and Shannon is always telling me, I can get kinda long winded, so apologies for that! But I hope this helps you. FYI: it's still working great for us after a year with this fix.
Thank you for that amazing video!❤
You are so welcome, glad you liked it!
Can't wait for you to brew me a cuppa!! Good job Tim!!
Sounds great and I can’t wait either! Are things finally warming up for you guys? Snow all gone I hope?
This is such a niche video but thank you for making it! I’m having this exact issue!
Glad it was helpful and we hope you're able to get yours working again!
What a a very professional video, thanks for sharing. Because of "advanced maturity" I'm not going to get there in person, sharing your adventure is the next best thing.
I have the 5lb tank. I store it in a 5 gallon bucket. Fits perfect with enough room for the hose and as an added bonus the bucket can be used for multiple tasks.
Good idea - thanks for sharing!
It's the little things that make a big difference. THANK YOU for sharing what has worked for you.
Absolutely, it really is. Thanks for the feedback!
THANK you for sharing your creative ideas ! And enjoy the blessings of having a brother who is also creative.
Thank you! 😊
Very useful. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful, thanks for the feedback!
This is great, I have been sitting here pondering how to do the upper cabinets and I was able to know this out pretty quick. Also, I'll be putting fronts on them that open up
Cool - glad you liked this!
Great to know for my Toyota Sienna. Thank you!
Happy to help!
I would suggest you to add a proper inline filter. The filter in the pump is not enough. So you don't have to clean as much and it's much easier to replace. Mine works for years without problem. No cleaning. But your right with altitude kit and let it burn on max. I do it for max 15 min at the time especially if it was running at low power.
Hmmm, good suggestion. Thanks!
Did you put a new radio with Bluetooth in there
Yes, we put in a Kenwood head unit with GPS and Apple CarPlay.
Do U have a vid of that install and links to the product?
@@LydieCakes Hi there, no unfortunately we did not make a video of that installation. Sorry!
Great video
Thanks - glad you liked it!
Problem is door is too heavy with insulation inside.
Could be, but the insulation doesn't weigh very much. However the window we added is quite heavy. Either way, we fixed it with this trick. It's been over a year now and it's still working great.
Great video. Love that they added barrier walls to protect the people instead of just paint.
Thanks Arthur! And yeah, concrete barriers are much more protective than paint stripes!
Lot's of helpful ideas. So much easier than what I was imagining. Cheers buddy.
Cool - glad it helped!
Every one of those are excellent ideas! So practical and useful. Nothing fancy schmancy, just really great ideas. Just came across this video but loved it and will now subscribe. Thank you for this!
Awesome - glad it was helpful and thanks for the Sub!
Thank you for your amazing video, mine is a sprinter 2005 & it has been playing up on & off, but I can open it from the front door when needed, I will check out where you have shown & thanks to the below comment on peeling skin off your fingers, so I will use gloves, very much appreciated😁
Ok good luck - hope you have the same happy result we did!
Very helpful
Glad you think so! Thanks for the feedback! 😊
How many hours a day did you drive?
We drove only about 3 to 4 hours per day. Just wanted to take it easy and have time to soak it all in.
A tip. Take a large sheet of heavy duty aluminium foil, scrunch it up then smooth it out a bit so that it is still wrinkly. Fold it up so it fits easily in the oven. Place it on the rack, as a trivet. That will prevent the bottom from burning.
Wow, interesting idea. Thanks - we'll give it a try!
You cld also have mounted the hooks upside down to utilize the two huge flat hooks on either end. Great ideas! 😃🎉👍🏼
Great idea! Never thought of that. Just might have to try it! 👍
I like that idea. I’m remodeling my vintage camper now and I may have to borrow this idea. I want to keep an open front concept. Don’t really want doors and such. I’m a decent carpenter but not great. lol.
Sounds great! I'm not sure I would even call myself a decent carpenter, but these were super easy to build. Good luck and have fun with your remodel!
@@TimAndShannonLTD thank you. This has been a long road for sure. Once I got the corners all fixed on the outside. It took 1 1/2 days to demo the inside to nothing but floors and walls. Now comes the hard part of designing a way to make the most out of the small amount of room.
Yep. For us that was about 75% research and 25% action, but what a fun process and so nice to have a blank slate to start with.
@@TimAndShannonLTD that’s exactly how I thought. Not only will I get the satisfaction of knowing I built everything that’s in there. But the simple fact it will be set up exactly how I want it to be. To fit my camping needs and wants.
And that's the beauty of doing it yourself. Enjoy the process!
I have a different van and im just starting out. I really appreciate your ideas! Thank you!
Oh that's a fun place to be, just starting out. So many possibilities! Best of luck and enjoy the process!
Is boiling for 15 minutes too long? Won't that make your potato's mushy?
With large potatoes, 15 minutes has been about right for us. Smaller ones, maybe only 12 minutes or so. But you're right - too long and they get mushy so it's better to err on the side of not long enough I think.
AWESOME VIDEO, THANK YOU GUYS.
Our pleasure - thanks for the feedback!
Thank you so much, this worked on UK Citreon Relay. Just need to figure out how to take stretch out as slight duff to yours. Cheers
Glad it helped!
Cheers mate. Think i need to open my old earing hole. Just love that bit of anti establishment thinking
LOL - Me too!
Great ideas! I just subscribed. Thank you!
Welcome - Thanks for the Sub and glad you enjoyed this!
Brilliant ideas!
Glad you like them, thanks!
Looking great!😊
Thank you, much appreciated! 😊
Wow, so easy! Thank you so much x
You're welcome! Glad this helped!
Does it hold up in heat
Very good question and the answer is "sort of". It depends on how much heat you're talking about. The things lasted 2 years up until last June in Arizona, when the heat was too much for the duct tape, and we've been looking for something better ever since. So far, haven't found a tape that can handle high heat and still stick well enough to the plastic screen. New video when we find a solution.
Really refreshing: Just explained, without music and all the tamtam. Thank you
You're welcome - glad you liked this!
I like that your front curtain hangs flat like a wall, rather than a gathered curtain. It ads to the stealth.
Yes it does! And we just had an experience 3 days ago where it was it was evening, but still quite light out - we were in a parking lot with no signs whatsoever about parking or no parking, but a security guard was repeatedly making his rounds, and we saw him drive around us several times (we were looking out our tinted windows which he couldn't see in). He was very close, checking out our van. But every time, he kept driving and we never got the knock; we stayed all night and got good sleep.
Umm you stuck your hand in a hole and now it works. Excellent explanation.
Hi Jason - apologies for not making it more clear that there is a link to the full explanation video in the the description. Here's a link to that video: ua-cam.com/video/Ub9aSsdjhNo/v-deo.html
Great info, thanks!
You're welcome, glad you liked these ideas!
