Here's some issues with CrossFIt. Not everybody who does CrossFIt is an athlete. CrossFit games and your CrossFit classes need to be separated. If I play recreational basketball, can I call myself an NBA player? Same should apply with CrossFit. Just because you do classes at your local CrossFit does not make you a CrossFit athlete. I strongly feel CrossFit is not a sport, most defiantly not a professional sport. Want to ague that with me? Name one sport where the "athletes" pay to participate in events where the spectators also pay, and anybody can pay to "participate". Name one professional sport where they have volunteer judges, safety staff and in this case, volunteer lifeguards. With that said, there is little to no investigation that needs to be done here. CrossFIt and the CEO need to be held accountable for what happened to Lazar Ducic. Why is there even an investigation? He was right in the middle of two "lifeguards". Let me be clear, they were just two volunteers with no lifeguard experience nor training. Even a spectator FROM THE SHORE saw him struggling and ran to the lake to try and save him, only to be stopped by security. This was an avoidable situation and Lazar Ducic's family should sue CrossFIt six ways from Sunday. CrossFit will never be taking legitimately without paid professionals. Paid professional judges, safety and lifeguards. Until then, you're just a regular person paying to participate. And swimming should always be first!

This isn’t really MetFix versus CrossFit, rather it’s about a brand new company now trying to compete all the groups that have popped up like F45, and the thousands of other weight loss, health, whatever groups. The noncompete isn’t really a worry, because Greg used to own a company that was “cutting edge”, but really was just a new bully in the fitness space. The landscape is completely different and while they might get some people to move forward, it will be a much harder sell, given some of the baggage Greg Glassman has. Doesn’t mean that they can’t make some money and make some change, but again, the landscape is way different today than it was even three years ago

Seems to be getting back to the roots. I think this is what Greg wanted back when he started firing staff and pushing for less focus on the games and sport of CrossFit. I love the sport and being competitive but I agree it has caused a glossing over of the foundation and why we should be doing this. It's unfortunate but I think it's because the sport direction is fun and exciting vs prioritizing nutrition first and focusing on the core methodology.

Nothing about Greg or Emily screams "wellness". Put them in a line up with 10 other average people and tell someone else to pick out the Wellness Gurus out of the bunch, no one would be able to do it. They're going to have an image and credibility problem. The only guy that can could ever pull off the "laid back, disheveled, Jimmy Buffet" look is Jimmy Buffet himself. I’m in the UK and you’re right most people find out about CF from the games and the sport not Greg . When I got in to CF I saw a picture of Greg Josh Bridges Rich and Andy Stumph I thought one of the 3 fit looking dudes was Greg not the overweight old guy 😂

In response to your question as to how using HSAs will drive more people into affiliates, making CrossFit more affordable will definitely encourage at least some of the holdouts. It can be cost prohibitive for many but perhaps this incentive will give some people the nudge that they need to give it a try.

When is CrossFit going to realize the huge disservice they're doing themselves and the athletes by not offering all CrossFit sanctioned events on their UA-cam channel? It starts to make you wonder if the financial position of the company is far worse than anyone is aware if they can't, or won't, invest the media resources to broadcast all the events that are tied to the "Games" i.e. Adaptive. It's one of two things; 1) They don't have the money to do it, or 2) They don't believe the Adaptive athlete competition is "worth" the investment. How hard would it have been to partner with Wheel WOD to simulcast on the CrossFit UA-cam channel? CrossFit wouldn't have had to use virtually any of their media team resources to do it.

I’m sure there are a few considerations they would have to take like making sure music hitting the livestream isn’t copyright protected bit otherwise sharing your channels live feed is really simple and costs nothing to do.

Yeah, dude - Brooke Wells is working part time as a seamstress hand stitching that active wear. She’s a ‘co-founder’ in name only, her involvement was picking out colors and maybe fabric. She wasn’t drawing up designs. Next thing you’ll say is she ‘wrote’ Resilient.
